If you have been to three classes and learned your detector...learned the signs...it is just a question of perseverance...

If you work very carefully, pay close attention and don't run off to the next "better" spot you will find some gold.

All the easy gold is gone...except when it isn't...try thinking out of the bedrock, exposed this and that Box.

I don't think you lose much depth with a small coil-in my experience with several detectors...you do get a very focused detection pattern.

I don’t know about your parks, but, the gardeners or. Rangers are fond  of putting what they rake in the low spots...just swarming with tabs and bottle caps especially under trees .

Did you dig dipper and around the edges...a coin on edge and just out of range can seem to disappear.

Same story different continent...There are plenty of piggish slobs to go around. Empty beer cans, empty water bottles and unfilled holes in the desert, in the mountains and on the beach. If their Mommies did not train them properly ,they will always leave the mess for someone else...

When I started trying to find nuggets with a detector about 1980, I needed a test nugget. So I glued a half gram bit to a nice white pice of river run quartz....

laid it down, gold. Side down, of course ...got distracted by something.."

never did find that gold. I wonder if someone else did....

your detector if shipped would be double boxed...if you bought it local and brand new there should not be scratches at all.

Go back to the dealer if local..

Too many variables to answer that question...one possible is iron near or some other target. You will learn with experience!

Another problem is that things are not always lost where they are noticed missing.like Steve said...a careful visual search of the parking lot is a priority...before too many cars go over it.

search the clothes and house  too.

They asked me to return the. Detector module and would ship a new one on receipt of the original.....I did and they did.
