  1. Thanks for the input. My line of thinking is that it might save some money to buy the D2 with the 11" upfront since it is the same price as with the 9". My reasoning is that the larger coils tend to be more expensive than the smaller coils when purchased individually, so it might be less expensive to acquire the 9" coil later. What do you think? I still plan to keep my Nox as a backup and for family members to use when they hunt with me.
  2. Thanks for the input. Greats points you make. Like you, I figure it would be the same scenario as other detector small vs large coil pros and cons.
  3. Greetings all. This is my first post here outside of the meet and greet section. I’m running a Nox 800 now, but I’m adding the Deus 2 to the arsenal tomorrow (getting on the order list). My question is: which is the better coil option, 9” or 11”, and why? I’ve watched most of Calabash Digger’s videos, but don’t find a video where he discusses this. I understand the improved separation with smaller coils in trashy areas with all the other detectors I have owned, are the benefits the same with the D2? Any other real differences other than a slightly larger coverage area and trash separation? Any advice from any of the people fortunate to have used/tested the Deus 2 would be much appreciated. TIA Mac
  4. Thanks dogodog. My dad was Marine Recon and served 4 tours in nam from 1963-1972. His experiences with AC130's saving his life many times are a large part of why I chose to be a part of the Spectre team. Thanks for the welcome, I look forward to more conversation.
  5. Thanks GB. I'll have to look into the groups.
  6. Thanks Rvpopeye. I grew up here and unexpectedly lost my wife at 43 in August 2018 so I decided to move back “home” to figure out where my life goes from here. I’ve been on a few other forums for many years, and it seems like many have migrated over here. It seems like the right forum for me. Thanks again for the welcome!
  7. Thanks for the welcome. GB, please let me know if you know of any good MD clubs here in CO. I will most likely have to leave the Springs to MD. From what I have read/heard, it seems the city admin and law enforcement here aren’t very fond of our hobby. Thanks
  8. Thanks F350Platinum. I was an AC130H Spectre gunship CSO/Mission Commander from 2000-2007 (lots of action both OEF/OIF), and transitioned to the RC135S Cobra Ball before retiring in 2013. Turned down 06 and a sure path to 07+ when I turned down a staff tour at the Pentagon. If I couldn’t fly/fight and had to sit a desk, the fun was gone and I knew it was time to pull chocks, not to mention that I’m honest and not a politician- neither are qualities that “fit in” on the Hill. Thanks again for the welcome.
  9. Thanks for the welcome Valens Legacy. I’ve been at it for the better part of 30+ years or so. Started with a Radio Shack VLF analog cheapo when I was 13. Deployments interrupted my efforts at times, but I’ve stayed in the game nonetheless. I’ve owned and sold many detectors since, mainly Whites and ML, and have been fortunate enough to detect many states and conditions. Nothing beats time out alone to think and dig the good stuff (with a “small” scattering of pull tabs and zincolins). 😂 I look forward to “shop talk” with everybody here.
  10. Greetings everybody. New to this forum, but not to MD’ing. I moved back to my home state of Colorado after retiring from the military. It’s not really a MD friendly city I live in, so I’m looking to travel around the state around the US lookin for loot. I look forward to conversing with you all.
