Some Photos from Vic and WA Aus.
Whites 6000D and Aus Whites GoldMaster from early 1980s on the beach after Gold jewellery.
Panning South of Ballarat. Note proper Steel Gold Pans. 😁
VIC. Claim I took out after finding 26+ oz in one day.
The brother-in-law on claim.
WA. Where I found my largest bit, 3500 gm with nearly 17 ounces of gold.
General Area of above.
Same area but wide view of general spot.
A photo that was used on another forum that has now gone the way of many others.
Four hundred small bits about 0.3 to 0.4 gm each.
I bet you wish gold was $2000US back then.....$$$$$$

Been lucky to travel a little with metal detector.
Below - 1st pic is Positano, Italy and I detected the beach. Found some coins and a sterling ring.
2nd pic (below) is my 1st ever one ounce gold nugget. Found on the runway at Ganes Creek, Alaska.
3rd pic (below) is from Australia and the hot ground.
Detecting England in the early Spring Rains and some of the success from the group trip.
Interior of Mexico and the soldiers watching over/protecting the gold
Anyone been around old mining should know what this is...MX
Lake Tahoe and the rock statues watching the gold.
I was able to earn a little yellow heavy metal from Lake Tahoe.
Last pic - My CTX-3030 says something metallic in the rock.
Thanks for sharing those amazing pics of your detecting exploits Gerry. You are definitely a well travelled exponent of our fantastic hobby. 👍

Hey Bootscrape, to see the Flinders ranges, approaching Port Augusta, after crossing the Nullarbor is a sight I never get tired of. Fuel and maccas in Port Augusta then left through Horrocks Pass to Wilmington, does life get any better than that !
Yeah mate, I never get tired of cruising around one of the oldest mountain ranges on the planet.

If only I could show the actual prospecting locations, they are generally very nice spots.
Don’t be shy...🤐
Beautiful country you got there mate.

Since there are many members here from different countries and points of the compass, I thought it may be interesting to start a pictorial thread. Show us favourite pics of the countryside you pass through or hunt in for gold and relics.
I will kick it off with these from country South Australia.
The Flinders Ranges.

Hope you didn’t need recovering from that last pic. 😬

Well, I was the one who brought this issue to Steve’s attention when my IPad just spontaneously got the problem. I had to PM him via my partner’s laptop to inform him about it.
Well guess what... today my postbox has miraculously returned to normal on my IPad and this post is coming from it. Bloody ripper !!!
I did initially try all the suggested fixes to no avail and just resigned myself to no posting, so yeah, no idea really. Just glad it’s back working.

Jeff, you keep mentioning your 10x5 inch coil. I have the LG24 coil which is 9.5x6 inches. Is yours the LG24 ?

One question I have is how does it handle EMI at beaches in built up urban environments where they build almost right up to the high tide mark. With all the emi produced so close to the water’s edge, most PI detectors really struggle.

Howdy Bootscrape, that's a fine grouping of relics and artifacts that you have there. I found my first barrel taps when I was just a teenager so they occupy a special place in my mind and heart and i never grow tired of seeing them. Also that retro hash pipe brings back a whole lot of very pleasant but somewhat cloudy memories from my youth.I have to admit that i really admire your meticulous effort skill and hard work to bring all of them back to there original condition and glory because they look sharp. However the thing is and please don't be offended but since I named my daughter and two different dogs that I have had Patina I obviously have a different preference.
No worries Doc..... I too love patina on the right stuff, not sure about the name Patina though. Certainly different.
These pieces certainly have plenty of patina even after a good cleanup.

Like Zincoln I give them a good soak and just wire buff them with a bench grinder or Dremmel tool. Sometimes I’ll use a metal polish on more fancy bits, but that can take away some of the character of the piece also.
Thanks for posting those nice pics Zincoln, and no, you’re all welcome to add more.
I love seeing old retrieved artifacts.
Cheers.

Thanks for sharing that link, I may just invest in some of that.👍

Lover that barrel tap, have found a few of those over the years, its personal choice if you wish to clean them or not i guess, they look great when they are done but its keeping them clean that is the time consuming part of it.
I find it therapeutic cleaning up my finds in the shed on a rainy day. And they only get one thorough clean and into the storage box. Their appeal seems to last well with this method.

I really don't save much items like that as I will just toss in a box and when I get enough of it off to the scrap yards.
Brass brings in good money.
Sorry
Yes VL... I have a scrap bin as well that I sort and cash out all the lead, ally and uninteresting brass when it adds up.
I couldn’t scrap beauties like this buckle...could be fully repurposed.

No mate, I don’t go to that much trouble.... just keep them in boxes sitting around the place ready for a show and tell for any visitors interested.
The old timers back in the day must have spent a lot of time keeping their brassware all shiny.
-
Or am I the only one who loves to clean up and hoard their brass relic finds, especially old buckles and horse tack.
I dunno, but I love to get these old relics shiny again, just to appreciate their quality and craftsmanship.
If you have a collection like me, post some pics.... I would love to see what’s out there.
These are just some of mine from South Oz.

Nice finds there dogo, especially the fox hunt button.
It immediately reminded me of this two piece button found at my favourite relic site in my home town here in South Oz. Also late 1700’s.
I am yet to ID the maker as the backmarks are very faint.
