  1. I posted these 2 rings I found in a separate Nokta Legend thread that you  might not have seen. My best ever beach finds.

I had them cleaned and appraised and was shocked and surprised at their commercial value..😄 😛.. 18 ct. white gold and approximately 1/2 carat VVS1 diamonds.

  2. G’day George, do you mind telling us what price you paid for the SPP.... just ‘cos I’ve got one I’m thinking of selling here in Oz. Mine has the High/Low Conductivity switch fitted and I’ve also modified the rechargeable battery pack to take eight 3.7 Volt lithium 14500 batteries. (2 parallel banks of 4 ) giving around 15 volts with 4000 m/ah of run time. The extra voltage over the stock 11.5 volt pack gives  much better depth/ sensitivity.

The 12x8 Razorback coil is dynamite on any TDI machine and also handles EMI great, being a folded 8 noise cancelling design.

Just wondering what I should be asking for it ?

That's a great looking tool you make there Bootscrape, I am big on Diy stuff. Did you use some sort of template for that shovel or did you just wing it as you went along.

Hey unox.... as you can see from this pic, I just drew out the shape on the plough disc and cut it out with a angle grinder. The curvature of the disc is ideal for a digger. I did get the cutting slits done by a saw workshop.

I think it's more a case of quality has gone downhill over the years, mine was a recent purchase, they were great replacing it under warranty as it bent so quickly, but the replacement was no better.  The tube is super thin.  I put photos up on here, I can find them if you want to see them but the first bent easily, the second snapped on the shaft.

Maybe you're lucky to have an old one

Yes, you’re probably right with the downhill trend regarding quality with anything these days. I got mine almost 10 years ago.

  5. Sorry to hear that about your Lesche digger mate, but I couldn’t disagree more after having used my Sampson for many years now. I have found it to be very robust and effective in all types of Aussie ground. I have also used it to dig many a “long drop” dunny in hard rocky campsites without problems.

Maybe yours were ‘seconds’ or just had some manufacturing stress faults.

These pics of mine show how much wear the blade has suffered over the years, but the integrity of the welds is fine.

  6. This is the scoop I use here in Oz. They sell for around $US120, so won’t break the bank. Mine has stood up to some heavy work in the tidal rock zone, so I’m happy with its durability.

I have added two aids to my fibreglass handle, one a central lifting stem and the other a top mounted Raptor handle both of which let me lift or pull a full scoop from deep sucking holes without straining my wrist and forearm.

The Raptor handle also allows me to drag the scoop behind me in my left hand leaving a gridding line in the sand while I’m walking and swinging. Win, win....

  7. Sorry to hear you Yanks are snowed in and have ye old cabin fever, but where I am in South Oz it’s high summer beach detecting weather.

I’ve had the LG24 for a few weeks now and all I can say is wow, what a little beast it is.

I think it is the perfect match for the Legend with it’s light weight, separation and sensitivity and depth for size capabilities. I am actually enjoying using it over the stock 11” coil at the beach, with obvious less coverage. It does not suffer with much less depth, but pinpoints great.

Anyway, I hope your weather improves so you can get out to experience this great little coil soon.

A couple of pics of what this coil has unearthed.... some trash and treasure.

  8. I thought I’d post some beach finds up after using the LG24 for the last couple of weeks along the coast here.

First thing I have to say is wow... how easy it is to swing for extended sessions on the beach compared with the stock 11” coil. And it does not seem to lack much in depth either (on the targets I’m digging anyway). Obviously ground coverage is less, but my swinging sessions are longer without the fatigue factor, so call it square.

Pretty sensitive too on the fine gold chains.... all in all I’m very impressed with the lightness and balance of this little beast. It ain’t coming off anytime soon.

Both diamond rings have been professionally cleaned and appraised as 18ct. white gold with VS1 clarity and F/G colour stones..... I almost choked when I first saw them in the scoop...... my best detecting finds ever. 😃
