Well, this site has put up screen shots that appear to be from a First Texas meeting with details on the upcoming multi frequency and PI (or PI like multi frequency) detectors. $1000 - $2000 range sand 2016 sounds about right.

My old 2005 Toyota only had one 12V outlet for all the stuff I wanted to charge and the key had to be on for it to operate. The next time it was in for a tuneup I asked them to add a new wire off the main harness to another outlet in the dash that was always on. It worked great.
That is what got me in trouble last time. I was plugged into the cig lighter outlet on my 2008 4 Runner, and again had to have key on for it to work. I turned the key switch one notch too far, and heater kicked on at low level and I did not notice.
Separate battery all the way from now on!

From the White Paper:
"Further technical information
A ‘dust iron’ toroid suitable for the HF frequency band (e.g.1–30MHz with an initial permeability of between 6 and 10) has been carefully selected. It is recommended to use this specific Minelab accessory, only. Alternate ferrites may significantly degrade ground balance quality."

Not a whole lot unless you are on wet salt sand. There is no salt mode so it may take increasing id mask to eliminate salt signals. Not as efficient but it will work.
-
Can't say I have found the salt ground more than annoying. I reminds me of beach detecting. I do have some more experiments to try yet myself but for now have an essay at http://www.detectorprospector.com/forum/topic/970-minelab-gpz-7000-a-super-vlf-saturable-soil-tips/ that relates to this subject.
-
Will be included going forward but were not earlier. Free now in any case if you did not get one initially.

Hopefully this clarifies things for people!

Just for general information. I have the Nokta FORS Gold and the FORS CoRe plus the Makro (Nokta sister company) Racer and in my opinion all three offer the same performance on gold. The only major operational difference is that the CoRe and Racer have salt mode for beaches and salt flats. So anyone considering a FORS Gold would be well advised to look at all three models.

Hello Chris, Welcome to the forum! Good of you to stop by.
Nice stuff, the SDC is the Gold Bug 2 of PI detectors. Nearly as hot and with far more punch in mineralized ground.
-
Chuck, I put you question and answer at http://www.detectorprospector.com/forum/topic/984-first-hunt-with-minelab-gofind-60/
Good going with the FORS Gold. Lowering the id mask will make the unit hotter but will bring back more ground noise. Personally, I would not do it in high mineral ground unless you try it at 10 on found targets and feel the lower settings are really worth the extra noise. The stock mask setting should still get the gold but will run quieter. But it is there to use and adjust so do what works best for you. Leaving a control like that always at stock levels is a mistake - why have the control at all if that were the case?
Results speak for themselves!

Chuck asked.....
Hey Steve H.
Have you had your hands on any of the Go Find detectors? I always like reading on what you have to say on a detector. I know what's said be it good are bad I know it's true. Thanks for your time you take on doing it.
Chuck
Hi Chuck,
I got to play with one. The Go Find is direct competition for the Garrett Ace 150, 250, and 350. If moderately performing entry level detectors are your thing than the Go Find, Ace detectors, the new Fisher F11, F22, and F44 plus the new White's Treasuremasters are all good options. Not what I am looking for myself however.

The charger is not adjustable.
As long as the charging LED is flashing green the battery is still charging, even if the power LED is flashing red. See the note on the last picture below from the owners manual"
"For input voltages between 11 and 12 V DC, the charger will still operate however the battery will take longer to charge if the power LED is flashing red."
It does not mean you battery per se but the circuit, and can be caused by nothing more than inefficient wiring. Frankly, the charger is too sensitive to small voltage issues but again, if the battery LED is flashing green just get on with charging.
Minelab includes a harness for the charger that allows you to directly hook to your battery. Do this, and if the problem goes away it is in the wiring and could be from other items on the circuit.
My charger works perfectly from my front 12V outlet but there is one in the rear of my truck that makes the LED flash red. Too long a stretch of small wire? No matter, it still charges the battery.
I accidently ran my battery dead because I stupidly was running the heater while charging but truck was off so no surprise there! But I now have a separate deep cycle battery with charging harness for field use.

More and bigger nuggets....

Opals sounds fun! Good luck Scott!!

When I look at the page it says item relisted at http://www.ebay.com/itm/Whites-Goldmaster-II-2-10-6X10-Longscan-Metal-Detector-Search-Coil-50kHz-/171803420606?
Don't know though beyond that.
-
Same thing I keep running into. You would swear that is going to be a bigger nugget than if finally turns out to be. There is no doubt at all in my mind that the GPZ really punches up the response on targets.
-
Welcome to the forum Stinky Pete and hello again Rege, thanks for chiming in on the thread. Nice for anyone that has any questions to have some contacts.
In case anyone is wondering I am not promoting any particular brand of coils. I am just trying to give some less discussed brands some exposure because many people are not aware of them.
-
This is a nice clear video on a descending tone target, the kind I have yet to dig with my GPZ 7000. A descending low tone is usually junk or big gold.
I normally hunt in High Yield but this video does nicely illustrate what Minelab says - General will usually respond better on larger deeper nuggets.
-
And more coils, this time from Miner John, also known as Razorback coils. Now for both White's TDI and Minelab PI detectors at http://razorbackcoils.webs.com/
Don't forget this guy makes a heavy duty scuff cover for the GPZ!
-
Good to hear of your positive experience Dale. I have a couple DeTech coils but never used one on my Minelabs. We can certainly use some price competition in accessory coils for the Minelab PI detectors so the more the merrier. We do not hear too much about these because so many dealers are already heavily invested in Nugget Finder or Coiltek.

What I find really intriguing with this detector is the interface with the phone app.
The screen only displays a few icons displaying the possible identity of the found item. However, the phone app can use custom target dictionaries to vastly expand the possible target id. For instance, you can have a U.S. coin dictionary, or a Canadian coin dictionary. The target information is passed to the phone app, and then depending on the dictionary loaded the item identified.
Better yet, the app is a custom operating system that can be upgraded by Minelab at any time. Lots of people out there have totally overlooked this aspect of the machine. Very cool. Where we are headed is DEUS type detectors but you will only buy the detector itself without a control box. The coils can be wired or not but the key is the display, audio and control system will be totally through a phone app. Right now the main limitation is that most phones communicate with accessories via Bluetooth and the lag inherent in that system, but I believe as phone manufacturers key into realtime control of external items via a phone the lag will be eliminated.
Good luck with your new GoFind! And thanks for the post!!

Bluetooth issues are pretty much the same with all detectors - good thread on the subject at http://www.detectorprospector.com/forum/topic/595-wireless-headphones/
Many people can't stand the small lag time. It is not enough to bother me as my brain seems to compensate quickly for whatever lag exists so it appears to be a personal issue thing to me. I never did try Bluetooth on my SDC and it looks like I never will now that it is up for sale at http://www.detectorprospector.com/forum/classifieds/item/81-minelab-sdc-2300-package/
Sure a great little metal detector though. I could own just an SDC for prospecting and do pretty darn well.

Sounds like you were sold old stock by the dealer so your ire may be misdirected. I bet it is made good on either case.
