I talked to Reg's brother at the club meeting last Thursday and Reg is not doing too well. Reg had one his leg's amputated last year and now is in the hospital with possible cancer tumor on the liver. Any prayers for a good outcome would be appreciated.
Sorry to hear that.

Reg had done a mod on my TDI and some other things for me over the years. I tried to call him a while back and never heard back from him.

Two of the pictures shows treasure crusted over and what you’re looking at is a X Ray. They have each item numbered but too many items and the print is small.
The last picture shows where the ships was found. How they knew they were there to start with is they dug through one when they made Mansfield cut to open water .
Jim I’ll be happy to make you copies of some of what I got. Just PM me with your address and I’ll get it to you.
No cost !
Chuck
Wow! Chuck thanks for posting these photos. I appreciate your willingness to send me more, but since it's a lost cause; it wouldn't do much except make me drool more. LOL

The State of Texas took what they had found and they didn’t get anything. It was made a National Sea Shore in 68 to keep Treasure Hunters like me out .
I got a map showing where those Treasure Ships are . I also got pictures of what was found by that Treasure Company.
Chuck
Yes Chuck, they got ripped off by the state of Texas big time. And kept me out of there also. One my friend's dad was a surf fisherman at little shell and big shell and found a piece of eight silver coin that was washed up in the surf. I lived in Corpus Christi in 1965 and I had rented and old surplus mine detector to search the area back then, but didn't find any thing. Yes there were several treasure ships in the area.
I'd like to see that map and the pictures of the treasure. That would be cool!
Best wishes!
Jim

Steve, here's the reason that " Padre Island National Seashore " was created. I knew of this ship wreck in 1965, but didn't have the money and knowledge to do the salvage operation.
This case has a long and complex history. In 1555, the Spanish galleon Espiritu Santo sank in a storm. The ship was lost beneath the sea for over four centuries, until the plaintiff, Platoro, located it in 1967. Platoro recovered various items from the wreck and removed them to Indiana, Platoro's home state.

Has anyone come across a good quitclaim deed for transferring ownership of mining claims? This would be for California.
Tons of forms on internet but was wondering if anyone found a specific one that worked great.
Thanks.
I don't know about California, but I have been using this one for years with no problem.

This story is of a friend of mine, "Bob Ellithorpe" an equipment operator in Colorado. The rock is on display in the Denver Museum of Natural History and I have personally seen it on display!

Is there anyone still hunting for meteorites in this area? I'm in Roswell and spoke to Skip Wilson (famous meteorite hunter in Portales, NM), years ago. I just never found time to go look myself.

The good old days. I was a Minelab Dealer and Wilma Beaumont was the distributor near Las Vegas. My dealer cost was $2836.00 for an SD2000 in that first shipment to the US.

I never met Jim in person, but had corresponded with him many times over the years. I have many of his books. He will be sorely missed.

Does anyone know where Reg Sniff might be hanging out since Findmall removed the White's forum?
He did some work for me a couple of years ago. I have his phone number and tried to call him a while back, but he didn't answer the phone.

my thoughts on the penny... when some one reached into a pocket it might have fallen out . getting cig lighter , or something.
Just my thoughts on it .
Back say 20 to 30 years ago, it was common practice to leave a coin where we found a nugget with our detector.

You might try this one, and it won't break the bank.

Download the manual to see how it works. It will not detect single coins, rings, small items, etc.

Devilsrenegade, I have a friend there in Polson. It must not be too far away. Allthough it's a big lake?
Best wishes and best of luck to you!

Wow! ? Ig
Back in the early 1980's I repaired a Fisher Gemini Detector for Letha Guthrie. I also sold her group another detector. She was Doc Noss' stepdaughter(Ova Noss' daughter) and lived in Clovis New Mexico. They were trying to get congress or had just got an approval from congress to get into White sands missile range to look for Doc's treasure cave on Victorio Peak. A very interesting Lady and story.

... Is Fisher Gold bug-pro / TekneticsG2 a suitable meteorite detector..?
Yes, just run them in all metal mode and ground balance them.

Greetings all,
I am new to this forum, and my friend is looking to buy a metal detector, however he could definitely use some advice regarding what he should go for.
He is thinking about OKM fusion metal detector and 3D ground scanner. I checked the site related to that product.
However it feels kinda fishy and expensive for what it is... Therefore, my question is, what is your opinion on that product and if you have other alternatives please do share.Thank you all, much appreciated!
My opinion is "Don't waste your money!"

I have never prospected in Oregon so can’t help you directly. However, to get started here are some locations:
Most of these areas will have mining claims or land management restrictions. A good place to start learning about these is:
Finally, here is an article describing how I go about looking for gold, with New Mexico used as an example:

I hope this helps get you started.
Interesting. Thanks Steve.

I received this email from White's a couple of days ago. Quote:"
GOLDMASTER 24k AVAILABILITYThanks for your patience as we launch the Goldmaster 24k. We had larger than expected pre-orders as well as some part-availability issues, so we are running about one week behind on launch.
White's Electronics will begin shipping Goldmaster 24k's starting late the week of August 6th. We apologize for the delay.

Maybe the original Fisher Gold Bug, White's Goldmaster II, Minelab SD2000.
I have had and used so many since about 1985.
