  1. Hey Guys,

I can't tell you how many of the Goldscreamer Power Pack systems we have sold over the years.  There are two kits available, one for the Minelab SD or GP series (4 pin) or the Minelab GPX series (5 pin).  The normal price is $469.00 with free shipping, or $510 with free shipping if you want the "Slimline external speaker" included.

This unit is worth every penny in my opinion.  It's super lightweight, mounts right to the side of your detector with a control box cover and pouch included and also has the Signal Enhancer/Booster build into it.  You also get a nice dual charger and two batteries.

One of the best overall investments available for the Minelab SD, GP or GPX series.

  2. Hey Steve,

Yep, I remember asking him about the hat, but I can't remember what he said about it.  Reg was sure a character if anyone knew him personally.  In the early 90's thru the 2000's I met a lot of great people, Reg Sniff being one of those guys.  A true detector technology guru for sure.

  3. Hey Guys,

I knew Reg and his Father for over 25 years.  Reg was a guru when it came to metal detectors and PI design.  I used to love to sit and chat with him in the Arizona goldfields about how coils and detectors worked.  Reg used to love to tinker with coils, building, modifying and metal detectors.  I know Reg was involved in several metal detector designs during the early days, most he wouldn't talk about.

Reg and his Father used to venture out to Arizona from Colorado every year and we would hook up for at least a weekend hunt.  We spent time around Rich Hill, the Bradshaw Mountains, down in Southern Arizona and around Quartzsite.

Here are the last pictures I have of Reg and his Father from Nov. 2004 in the Quartzsite region.  I was able to get his Father over his first Arizona piece of gold in the wash shown below.

Reg wasn't a huge fan of Minelab as many might know.

Rest in Peace Reg, we had some great times together!

  4. Hello Everyone,

It's been awhile since I have been out.  We have been placering a large wash down to the paylayer and bedrock.  This time of year, you can only do so much digging, raking and detecting.  Here is a short Youtube video of a partner and I working for half the day placering for gold with the Minelab GPZ 7000 metal detector.  Hope you enjoy.

Watch, Like and Subscribe our "Nuggethunting" Youtube Channel to follow us on our Arizona Desert Adventures for gold nuggets.

  5. Hey Guys,

Okara - Ya, the picture was a give away, plus "TxxY" told me the story. Yes, we have met, maybe several times in the last 10-15 years. Hope all is well.

Reg Wilson - Yes that is correct.  I had several contact that were International gold buyer and there was a time when they could purchase big, Australia gold nuggets for less than spot.  Sometimes the big ones are hard to sell due to the size.  I think you are correct, those times are/were in the past, now for the most part it's spot or better, if not premium for big, unique gold nuggets or specimens.

I know of a friend/customer that found a whopper many years ago.  The person believes the piece is worth 8-10 times spot, which maybe it really is.  However, until you get money in the hand, you can tell anyone what you "think" it's worth.  It's one of those things where you might find the perfect collector right away that is looking for that perfect piece, or you sit on the piece for a long time trying to find that perfect buyer that will give you "what you believe in your mind" it's worth.

I'm sure we would all believe, that is shouldn't be worth anything less than the Market Spot value.

    Just my thoughts,

    Rob

  6. Hey Guys,

The biggest issue with the SDC 2300 as a dealer and end user was the overall length.  I'm about 6'1, but it seemed like I was always leaning/tilting down on one side to get the coil flat on the ground.  It the unit had 2-3 more inches of length it would be great.  I actually like it for prospecting really remote regions where a lot of hiking was required.   I found a nice Camelback backpack with a 100oz water bladder and was able to fold up the SDC 2300 and hike in (looking like a hunter or hiker).  This allowed me to have both hands free while hiking several miles in/out of remote locations (mostly canyons).

For this the SDC 2300 worked great for me, biggest complaint was the overall length.  The battery issue was never a big issue to me and I just wedged one of my business cards between the batteries to keep them from moving around and power ON/OFF the SDC while using it.

P.S.  Some California Snipers and Dredgers really love them.

    Just my thoughts,

    Rob

  7. Hey Guys,

Great news if Coiltek, Nugget Finder or any other coil maker can have the chip included in the cord and no mods needed.  I think for all us GPZ 7000 users, we need a few more coil options.

PS.  AraratGold - You are correct, here is a video I shot in the beginning of March 2015.  Man, does time fly .....

  8. Hey Guys,

I don't offer or sell the X coils, even though it sounds like they are working well.  Until they get something figured out that will not require a mod and a purchase of a used coil to clip the cable and chip off, I'm going to hold out.  I have done plenty well with the stock 14x13 and found some pieces I left behind with the 19".

I heard some rumors that NF has not figured this out either, and it will also require some mods to be done.  I'm not solid on this, but the sources I heard it from said no one has any kind of agreement to make GPZ coils at this time with the chip technology.

I was hoping as we are 4 years or so in on the GPZ 7000, we would have seen a few more coil options that would just plug in and work.

This all being said, anyone that purchases a new Minelab GPZ 7000 from their local dealer will get a FREE 19" Searchcoil during this Promo.

Wishing you all a great Memorial Day weekend.

    Rob

  9. Hey Guys,

Well I only got the use a Steelphase for about 2 trips on my GPZ 7000.  I can't keep them in stock here in the US for the most part.  They sell very well and seem to be the best signal enhancer out there at least for the Minelab GPX, SDC 2300 & GPZ 7000.  As Pat mentioned, you can use it on other manufactures as well.

If anyone is looking, I have a few left from the last batch, but they will go quickly.

  10. Hey Steve,

That is correct, for a limited time Minelab is including the 19" Searchcoil (value 1500.00) with the purchase of a Minelab GPZ 7000.  We are also including our 2020 Prospectors bundle with this promo.  I didn't think we would see another FREE coil promo again, but it has always been a great way to get the customers on the fence to jump in and get $1500 in free value + a nice bundle deal.

  11. Hey All,

A partner and I managed to escape this weekend to placer more of the wash we have been working.  We didn't do as well as we hoped, but did manage a few nuggets that you can see in the video below.  We were using the Minelab GPZ 7000 most of the time, but also had the GPX 5000 and Gold Monster on site.  We had several trash targets that were wedged in the bedrock cracks that we though were going to be gold nuggets.  Some of those targets were pick tips and pieces of old metal probably used as a tool to open up the bedrock.

Hope you enjoy the video.  We would love for you to Subscribe to our Youtube Channel by clicking the "Subscribe button," Hit that LIKE and follow all our new video by clicking that Bell icon.

Wishing you all many gold nuggets in your poke.

  12. Hey Guys,

I sell NF here in the the US, Arizona.  I talked with the US Distributor a few weeks ago, he said there is no ETA yet.  This could have changed, but I wouldn't get too super excited.  I know practically everyone with a GPZ 7000 will want to get one at some point, including myself, so I will just want to get more solid new.

It's great we know they are coming, it's just a matter on when they can be manufactured, shipped and available in the USA during all this Covid19 stuff.

    Rob

  13. Hey Guys,

That for all the comments.  I have to agree with all of you, gold may or may not be on bedrock.   Most of the places I hunt, which is typically the gully bottoms, I find majority of my gold on or very near bedrock.  I have found the exceptions, where maybe the nugget(s) rolled in from the hillside or maybe popped out of a vein crossing the creek.

I think the Old-timers had the best saying, "Gold is Truly where you Find It!" :nugget:

  14. Hey Guys,    The question has always been, are most of the gold nuggets on bedrock?  That is somewhat a loaded question, but I have found more nuggets on bedrock, or the paylayer on bedrock than not.  Here is a gold nugget I picked up working some shallow paylayer (ancient channel) that the old-timers just overlooked.  I had to chip the ancient channel apart, but finally knocked a nice chunk out that screamed on the Minelab GPZ 7000 metal detector.  The nugget was approx 3 Dwt's, so nothing to get super excited, but I did pick up about 6 other ones in the nearby area.   Hope you enjoy.  Rob

  15. Hello Everyone,

Wow, so sorry to hear about Fred.  He was a longtime friend and customer.  I had to dig through some very old pictures, but this was back in 2006 I believe.  Fred would email me or PM me on my forums and say, Rob, you're always finding gold down there in Arizona.  Fred wanted to come down to Arizona, down to Southern Arizona at the time.  We planned a weekend outing and 4-5 friends all met up for a hunt.

I had some pretty good success in the area over the years, but it was very trashy and extremely spotty when it came to nuggets.  If you hunted hard, dug as much trash as possible, sometimes you could come out of there with a 1/4 ounce or better nugget.

Most of us arrived Friday evening to set up camp.  Saturday, we walked around for a few hours, I showed everyone what I knew of the area and where some gold has been found.  The remainder of the day, 4-5 good friend all went their own ways searching for that elusive metal.  Everyone was beat at the end of the day, but some decent nuggets were found.  I believe 2 or 3 of us found nuggets, Fred and another guy didn't have any luck that day.

The next morning, most of us were a bit tired digging all the rubbish and hiking around for miles.  The next morning, we all did the same thing, everyone took off to either where they found their gold the prior day, or tried some new spots.  That afternoon everyone returned back to camp to eat some lunch.  I was lucky enough to find another nugget or two and a few more nuggets were found.  Fred wasn't having the luck, but that was typical of this gold placer.  I personally seen guys go, weeks and months without a single nugget find, but diggin handfuls of iron rubbish, bullets, bullet cashing and other crap.

I told Fred and the others I was going to hunt for about another hour or so, but then come back and break down camp.  I had to work Monday morning and had a 2-3 hour drive back to town.  Fred was a bit frustrated and said he's never coming back, better yet, he was going to head back to California!

I told Fred, get out of the trashy gully bottoms and try your luck for a few hours on the hillsides.  Fred said, that is like hunting a "Needle in a Haystack", and I agreed, but sometimes you could nail a nice one with minimal trash on the hillside or slope.  Fred agreed to give it a whirl, but I could tell he wasn't too convinced about having any luck doing so.

About an hour later, I hear some yelling from a hillside over.  I couldn't really tell due to the distance who or what was going on.  I ended up walking that direction and finally seen it was Fred.  He had this huge smile on his face.  I remember asking Fred, "Any luck?"  He said, Rob you were right, I got one!"  He dropped a nice piece of gold in my hand and I about shit!  It was a beautiful 3/4 ounce nugget with some quartz attached.  Fred was so happy.  We ended walking back to camp and doing the show in tell deal.

I remember asking Fred before I left that afternoon.... "Fred, where did you find that piece?"  He told me, Rob, I can't remember what hillside it was on.... LOL I think he was so freaking excited he found it, he dug it up and hauled butt back to camp to show it off.  He didn't really pay much attention on where he found it! 🙂  I never really followed up with Fred on if he went back to hunt the area real well, I know he spent another day or so there, so I'm hoping he found at least another piece or so.

Your friendship will always be treasured Fred.

    Rob

  16. Hey Guys/Gals,

A partner and I have been gold placering a wash for some time now in sections.  Every once in a great while, we find a nice crevice like this one with our metal detectors.  The old-timers couldn't get every crack or crevice, missing one here and there that might be rich in gold and gold nuggets.  We were using the Minelab GPZ 7000 and Minelab GPX 5000 metal detectors.

    Hope you enjoy.
