Just ordered mine!!! I've been checking almost hourly the last week or so. I ran across a couple 600's on Amazon and Cabelas but really wanted the 800.

"freeship" without quotes coupon code got me free shipping.

    Subtotal    $899.00
    Shipping & Handling    $0.00
    Tax (92111)    $69.67
    Total    $968.67

Good catch I was just so excited to order mine I didn't look at anything else

I was going to get a 600 to accompany the 800 I have ordered through a dealer.  Cabelas came up for $60 tax and $19 shipping!!  Making an Equinox 600 cost $730 or there abouts for me.  I said thanks but no thanks.  Hopefully the dealer will get one on its way to me soon.

It would be so easy to wait for the second Machine versus waiting as long as we have for the first

Right but if i had bought one from them and paid while they were out of stock wouldn't they have filled my order first? I never completed the order but I went all the way to the point of entering my CC info on a couple of occasions in January.

I don't think so! But can't say 100% all I know is the 16 that I tracked down were ordered when they said they were in stock and from what I can tell they all receive them within 7 days from ordering

So did you guys find anything?  I've been down there and found nothing.  But the beaches were badly sanded in.

I never count clad so I have no idea in change how much we found but after I believe almost 200 hours metal detecting, one woman's 14k heart-shaped Ruby with a diamond chip was it!

I believe my best luck is to stay in the Keys for Spanish treasure I have a hookah dive system and I want to do more diving around all the small Islands and the sand bars where everybody hangs out and parties...

After Hurricane Irma the beaches down here got the sand peeled right off of them! Sandbars moved hundreds of feet! But I was stuck up in Tarpon Springs working on some sailboats and didn't get back down here till 2 months ago!

Back at you if you head up this way I hunt from johns pass to Clearwater beach.

I live on my sailboat and travel all over Florida so chances are I will be up that way after I get done annihilating the keys just so everybody knows after I get done there will be nothing left for anyone down here... Lol I was just up in Tarpon Springs

I used to live in Key west while in the Navy. Regretfully well not so regretfully I was into fishing and not into detecting at the time.

I do a lot of freediving spearfishing! If you like hunting and fishing? Combined there's nothing better! Equinox I thought I'd better mention that I'm still waiting!

I've already sent a message to Terry Shannon through a mutual friend that he's gonna have some competition for those 1715 goodies next winter.    I'm sure he's staying awake at night worrying about it.

A friend and I worked the Treasure Coast like Mad Dogs for a week straight, out on every low tide so every day for us was two days. After the tide would come in we would go back to the Hotel and sleep then wake up to do it over and over and over again! That is one of the most quiet beaches I've ever metal detected in my life! if some City wants to clean their Beach throw a few gold coins down there and they'll be nothing left in the sand for miles!

  8. And it's loaded! I just have an old white surfmaster that I don't feel confident with! New Year's Day I pulled the ring that's my photo off that Beach 1.25 carats of diamonds 12 grams gold! Worth enough to buy two equinoxes!

The great thing about the beaches in the Keys we get people from all over the world constantly winter spring summer and fall...

I just recently decided to buy a new machine and get back into some serious detecting when I heard about the equinox. I was looking at the Excalibur  2  but to me  it's still a prototype machine they never finished it, look at those big honking  knobs hanging everywhere! And way back when I bought my Fisher CZ 20  that was almost the end of my career of metal detecting it turn me off so bad! I never found any small gold again! Well a little over 5 months after pre-order prepay and I'm still waiting for the ship carrying my Equinox to come in!

  9. Believe me you're not alone! Look at this beach the only thing missing is me and my Equinox! I've even been having dreams of all the good finds in my pouch!

I guess Cabelas website is going to be like a fish laying on the shore with a bunch of us Buzzard's flying above waiting to strike

Then there's the whole “where does the third wire go? (shown in some of the photos of the battery and the down-the-handle photo).

Like I said: it will be years down the road before anyone has to worry about this but whatever way they have the battery hooked up I'll find the solution to make a less expensive version with probably a better battery than Minelab uses... Check ebay in a couple years... I'll offer a complete kit with instructions, o-rings and lube... again it all depends on Minelab price!

The problem I see if someone decides to change the battery on their own with a third party battery is the wires with the plastic connector on the original battery are more than likely welded onto the original battery terminals.  You will need the connector from the original battery to use with the third party battery.  The green Panasonic battery doesn't have any wires or connector.  Soldering the wires cut off from the original battery to the replacement will likely damage the battery's internal seals in the process because of the heat.  Any battery replacement done at home should probably use the battery sold by Minelab to be safe.

I haven't really spent much time on the batteries because I don't think it'll be an issue for years but they do make 26650 batteries with solder tabs....

Back in my previous life for 15 yrs I was an electronic repair technician for an oem I know how to do things right!

  12. Nuggetbuddy,

Ripped up streets parks or anywhere that the ground has been peeled back... Are like virgin ground...

When I lived in Minnesota we used to drive around just looking for construction, some of my oldest finds came from ripped up parks!

From what I can tell about the equinox, if you just use the presets and don't mess around too much till you learn the machine you will be fine

  13. Detecting is a great Hobby you get plenty of exercise get to find cool stuff and like me I'm on the Florida keys beaches the sights can be extreme at times!

Get proficient with your machine and persistence will pay off! And remember you got the best thing going for you beginner's luck!

    My story is simple:

I've never once, ever in my life, have ever been out metal detecting. I currently own zero metal detectors. As a new years resolution, like with every year, I seek a new way to expand and improve my business in some fashion. This year it happens to be incorporating metal detecting into my picking repertoire. To be honest, I'm a little embarrassed, and feel like a slow learning dope for not recognizing the activity until now. Metal detecting fits both my working, and personal lifestyle... and just who I am as a person.

I very much sympathize with everyone who's been waiting since September 2017, as I've only been waiting since mid January. It's forums like this that have 100% sold me on the EQ 800. With a full blown case of cabin fever (It gets worse every year), I too am impatient and frustrated. As a matter of fact, I'm only here for the moment to help pass the time until I can be out in my back yard this spring, clearing spots with my new 800, so I can set up my tents, camping stoves, and such for the first time in 20 years.
