Must admit this has been a really helpful thread as i also have a GPX4500,it came with the stock 11'' Mono which i wont be using and also the 15x12 DD ML which is will be using,i certainly wont be nugget hunting because here in the UK we basically dont have any,so mine will be used for hoard/artefact hunting.

I have just purchased 2 aftermarket coils and they are the 11'' Detech DD AI coil and that will stay on the GPX for basically everyday use detecting and also a Detech 18'' Concentric coil as well,so should have almost all scenarios covered,i do still own some large Minelab and Detech coils but these are Mono coils that i use occasionally on my TDI Pro.

Have been playing around with some setting today that someone from on the forum suggested and graciously helped me with over this last week or so,i wont mention who it is but a massive thank you.

Have a Doc screamer kit coming during the week to reduce the weight of the brick hanging on the back of the full harness, still got a long way too go but making headway for sure in taming the GPX,the weather is currently horrible raining and cold so not getting out alot at the moment.

But must admit this forum and all the help that folks offer is most welcome and thanks Steve for providing in my opinion the best detecting forum going.Thank you very much and also all the folks who contribute a vast amount of knowledge.

When you get used to the GPX you will no longer use the TDI and even more so with the 18 concentric coil.

  2. I wonder if Minelab could make an update for the Equinox that would make the Vanquish coils compatible with the Equinox.  If it could be done, it would be a masterstroke that would surely bring them more benefits.  I myself would buy a vanquish just for the coils

Easy, first one I flipped a rock that's never been flipped before, second one I was stupid enough to climb down a cliff that had a lot of thorned briar rose bushes just waiting for their victim 🙂  In both instances I was the first to do something. 🙂 The point is being out there using any capable detector gets you in the game, you have a good chance of success, it doesn't take the best of the best to get a bulk of the finds, yes it helps, but it's not vital, I'd bank my money on someone putting in effort and covering miles more than someone with all the gear with no skill and no effort.

a lightweight detector helps to do those things.  I doubt you would have done it with the 7000😁.  I'm glad you're okay Simon.

The carbon rod looks awesome, is it too expensive to order the Werner tool from UK?  You could try all the usual places like Ebay I guess, hopefully you can find one.

Simon, I've been looking on eBay and I only get two sellers who ship to Spain and both are from the United States.  It would cost me about 30 euros with one seller and about 50 euros with the other seller, that with shipping costs included and I would have to add the customs duty costs, which I estimate would be about 15 euros more.

I like innovative things and people doing stuff for themselves even if it is out of necessity, I've used those Chinese tap diffusers on taps before 🙂  You should have used a fiberglass tent pole or some carbon fiber pipe for the pole on it to keep away from being metal, especially if using a PI with it.  The concept you've got going on is right, just I'd use different components to do it.  The top part of it you've done will work perfectly.

Surely you can use Amazon in your country and just buy the real part you need, from there as you've seen it's simple.

Werner AC58-TL Ac58 Ladder Tool Lasso with Belt Clip, Blue - Ladder Accessories - Amazon.com

Here is a UK Store with it

    Werner Tool Lasso | Toolstation

Werner that makes it is a big ladder manufacturer, they're basically worldwide, you should be able to find it locally if you find a local store that sells Werner ladders.

Thank you very much, Simón, look at the ribbon.  I have used the aluminum bar because that is what I had at the moment and as you have told me it can be a problem.  If it works, it's made of carbon fiber.  It's mainly for use on the gpx and the detech coil coil, I love that coil but it's damn heavy
