  1. Hmmm...

You got me thinking about my Mpow earbuds. They connect with no + sign but seem to work fine.

So I set up a test with 6 items to see if definition and separation were an issue.

I was unable to determine any signal lag between wired headphones and wireless earbuds.  The main differences were lack of bass response on earbuds, and the silver 5c piece was crisper sounding.

All I can say is try a test between the wired and wireless.  Hope that helps, a bit.

  2. Sounds like our town park. Lots of foil, crown caps and pennies.  I recovered over 500 pennies there last year with my Cibola.  Couldn't wait to try the new Nox 600 there this year. Like you, I believe there is more silver there then the one piece I found there last year.

Besides being overwhelmed with the amount of foil and unmasked pennies this year.  I am staying positive that there is silver there to be uncovered.

Thanks for the report.  Very similar to my findings...

  3. I really don't know if I am liking as to how deep the Nox goes!?

Since I am new to vdi's (coming from Tesoros) I am choosing to dig everything right now. I stop digging at 8"...  I don't know how you guys can continually dig deep plugs without a shovel.  A lot of targets yesterday were at 8 plus inches!

The ring was in sod just above the dirt line and that cremation tag was at about 4".  Those pennies were all at about 6" and some of those rusted crowncaps were at 8" (I wanted to find out what was down there. )

Lots of learning left to happen before I comfortable with the Nox!

Nice ring.  The sound of a smooth target stays with you.

Your tag was probably from someone.  You can contact the the service and give them the number.  They will not tell you who used it but they have told me in the past the year.

When ashes are spread many times the tag is not wanted as a reminder.

I've found several of them at the beaches I go to where you can imagine ashes are spread.

Hey thanks for the info. The tag is dated 1997.  I doubt records would still be on file...

  5. Cabin fever forced me out to south facing park hill today.

Could not believe how chattery the 600 Nox was. After finding lots of aluminum fence parts and rusted crown caps, came upon a smooth 4ish surface target. It popped right out of the ground with the tip of my digger.

  6. Thanks Jackpine,

It must be the new technology that I am trying to understand. Minelab uses threshold adjustment as a feature for users to "not hear" a notched out target (by the sound dropping out)?

Other than that, it's not really needed?

  7. Thanks Dan,

So, I guess my next question is: presets are set at "0" and it is recommended to use that setting.  However, the manual recommends that it be adjusted for optimum detection.

I am just a little confused at what appears to be a contradiction...

  8. Coming from Tesoros I have picked up a NOX 600.  I am use to setting threshold to a barely audible hum.  Then setting discrimination. The quieter the threshold hum, the better discrimination works. Or so it seems.

So what exactly then does setting threshold do on the NOX?

According to the manual; it is used to notch out an item, like a nickel or penny.

Can someone please explain the differences.  And also explain that if I set the threshold on the NOX to a barely noticed hum what are the consequences?

    Thanks

    Terry
