That is awesome. If  those coins  could  talk.Have you ever found  a US flowing  hair coin .Those  before1802.They seem harder to get then a gold coin.My friend found one in a lake in upstate NY.

Yes a 1794 half dime in the 80's. My friend was a coin shop owner so we did some trading.

  2. It's worth it to me to get the extra programs on WS4 5.2. Sometimes I just like to use both. I bought my WS4 for 90.00 used. Worth the investment to me. I'm a tone guy all the way. Keep digging.

Here are a few locals, Bob and Frank.......who hunted the same beach's I do now. Back then it was not uncommon for a hunter to find 7 or more gold rings a hunt. For me to find that many gold rings in a hunt is tough..my best was 8 this year, in one hunt..Rare for sure.

I do have one more guy who hunted even before detectors, diving...and by sight. (Harry)...He would find 30 or more gold rings a hunt..more later on him.

Hide....I guess I do in a way .......for Joe Beechnut is ... not my real name...As far as a legend, I don't see myself as...I'm just Blessed to be in the right spot at the right time...it's that simple.

! use to see them hunting Bay Beaches when the Orange Whites PI was being used. Long time ago.

If those bullets are mid 1800's they fetch a buck or 2 ea. Noticed the pocket watch there too. Reminds me I should go through mine but getting lazy these days.

They are civil war minnies of various types. I've dug several thousand of all types starting in 79.

Yes, the plastic case knocked a couple of pounds off Compared to the Aluminum one.

Somehow I ended up with 3 of the Goldtrax units in the gold boxes with the elliptical coils - need to sell at least 2 of them

It is with great sadness that I have to report that our friend and contributor Fred Mason passed away this morning at home with his wife by his side. Fred was a good man, husband and father. He was also a good detectorist and friend to all that knew him.  Fred was also a very generous person, at just about every gathering he made a very large pot of "Chile Verde" and shared it with all.

                                                                                             R.I.P.  Freddy

                                                                                                  Norm

Fred and I had many conversations over the years. He was very interested in PI detectors. I am very sad to hear this news. My condolences to his many friends and family.

the 5c has long been my favorite machine
    original it had two faults
soil adjustment / even at zero
remains operational / you must add an on / off
to really cut it at the beach
    and then add SAT setting
with that we gain more than 5 inches on a gold ring
but today even with this modifications
he is far behind AQ ...

Hi diver, I did a little freediving with an early White's underwater metal detector when I was stationed in Hawaii in the 70's. I don't remember the model number but it was the size and shape of an electronic megaphone and had one earpiece that snapped into a hood.

I used to dive down and acquire multiple targets and mark them with plastic clothespins. I'd then surface, get some air and go back down and dig all the targets out with my state-of-the-art french fry basket.

If I tried that today I would probably black out!

You had me at French Fry Basket. A friend used one on dry sand. I used a Beaver's tail to move the dry sand.
