Looks like a very productive hunt.

I have no idea what the square thing is, but will try to find out and get back to you.

Good luck on your next outing.

Good luck to you as well mr.valens!

The square thing is unique to me and I thought simply a huge nut at first. It's for sure not a cut and dry nut or doesnt look like any I've ever seen once I cleaned it up I learned not so cut and dry!

Btw these kshot and square thing were screaming 07,08 blow your ears off signals! Square thing had a bit of iron grunt, kshot did not. Thanks to tnsharpshooters videos I was a digger of high tone 07's!

I was back at the spur spot yesterday afternoon for 3 hours of well deserved therapy. It was hot but there was enough breeze to keep me cooled down. I sometimes hunt with  a buddy that has all his detecting needs perfectly kept in a little back pack... his boots are already on and he's ready to go detecting...the minute we turn off the truck he's out the door and hauls ass to the spot...he's usually about 10-15 minutes ahead of me. One time after he did this I walked up to the area he had already been detecting for 20 min turned on my detector  and immediately dug a nice seated quarter about 15 feet from where he was standing. As he looked at me in disbelief I calmly told him that the reason I found the quarter and he didn't was because he hauled ass to the spot and the detecting gods don't like to see greedy detectorists.

So in following with my superstitions yesterday instead of rushing to the spot where I found the spur I made a wide fishhook pattern so as not to appear too eager to find the other one...The plan worked perfectly it was the 4-5th target I dug...On the deus 2 it was in the mid 80's and sounded not that great...as I was excavating it out of the ground I noticed why... there was a large piece of Iron covering about half of the spur...I would have put the odds of finding the other spur at zero to one...how many times have we set out to find something with our detectors only to find out it was the only one there...

I had a nice little 3 hour hunt.... the matching spur will sit in my display case next to the other one...I got a few more relics and even found a coin if you can believe that. The ground is rock hard...A shovel is out of the question.  Once I break through the hard upper surface I am able to use the Leshe tool  to get the target out but its lots of work to not damage the target. Heres a few pics... a couple showing the landscape. Happy hunting and don't be too greedy when you go detecting 🙂

Awesome finds dude! I'm jealous but happy for you mr.stranger strick!

  3.        Finally had a free day "rained very little,so I called mental health day!" I pointed my work van east of i65 alybamy and began the intensity training needed to suck these delicious targets out of the gummy clay I knew was a strong adversary awaiting my unsheething of D2! 🙂 no laugh or smirk go away!

I've had the pleasure of more than 100hrs on this site over 4 yrs and it has always treated me well! I'm absolutely indebted to the land owner "he like my hunting buddy have passed unfortunately" now his girlfriend who he left it to! Fortunately they, she have always been so good to me and as we all know this is a luxury to our kind/hobby! So the last few trips maybe combined 7 hrs with nox800 the decent signals had all but dried up or atleast I encountered very few in recent trips! Small area 50yds×30yds of egg shaped earth built up higher than surrounding area!

D2 fast program pitch 0silencer,0bc,2reactivity,1stability,no ground balance as ground stayed 79 to 87 over 2 hrs one evening 7hrs more today is absolute fire! I tried sense ft,sense with 3 tone,5tone and they dont compare to pitch in iron imho not even close! Sense with pitch basically the same settings 1.5 reactivity though I ran a good bit as well and for me pitch is lightyears ahead in the extreme nail universe like the old sights we all seek these relics in! Heck just trying fulltones and the 5,4,3 just doesnt take long of swinging same little areas to see just how non comparable they are to pitch imo"we all have these thing, opinions!"?. To me it's not close and also hurts my heart as I want to use fulltones!

Awesome hunt though can't stress how blessed and thankful i feel about it!  I think that is kshot? Scabbard finial"i thought was a rare bullet" lol, ornamental hangar thinging may have came from back in tn now that I'm writing! Lol all others are from this hunt haha artillery cuff, infantry cuff! Are these officer buttons or just run of the mill artillery/infantry fellas? Fork is awesome and the thing with holes like a salt shaker is cool but I have no idea what it may be,nice rivet, percussion cap and i think a 32cal rimfire casing or 36cal. The kshot have always been right there whr I have spent 100+ hours probly pushing 200 at this point and if not for pitch audio and d2 I would still be walking over them even if hearing them as I'm certain I have!

Anyone have ideas on big square thingy mobob?

Chime in let me know what things are or any knowledge I'm missing or opinions not stated all is welcome! Thanks fellas, have a great day

It will be this weekend before I can test this on targets in the ground. I'm afraid to change anything before then. If it works, then to me this is like finding the ark. It is more than likely just an audio glitch that won't translate into actual unmasking.

I tend to think along your optimism based angle here!  If this translates it will be unrivaled also so much bigger then needing to stay in a program, power down to get it back imo.

In the same breathe very wierd and if allowed to breed negativity in ones own head could be very confidence killing and honestly to me my experience goes to shit if my confidence is down with a unit!?

  5. The 2 little bullets I thought were cut chess pieces possibly!?  I'm 99% certain thier Mississippi pattern rifle bullets 290some grain(measured, weighed 2 days ago) and in t&t book they match these damn near perfect on measurements and to the grain 100%. These were older style patterns some Confederate hung on to and cast their own it says! That's my take away, has anyone ever found any? Does anyone have an opinion on this?

  6. I feel like the d2 having RELIC as program name vco/allmetal/equivalent to goldfield on others stated all over this thread is why it may be used/tested and goldfield on the others were not!?      Honestly I believe most normie detectorama ladies & gents do not use goldfield ever but just might relic on D2 just because it's called RELIC!?  I may be absolutely wrong and it's very ok for anyone to even think I'm a stupidly silly manchild,I really think this is the rule and some of yall detectonerds are the exception using goldfield on nox or any other in normal hunting scenarios!? Btw I'm a on again off agian detectonerd as well but I'm not using relic or goldfield ever idc if I get +1,2,3 or 4" gains,i have only once in 4 years dug stuff deep as in 10,11" mostly 3-7" are what I see!? Never is probly a bit to strong because I would if it was a neccessary option and I have the tool D2/nox800 and I may have needed to try goldfield up toward brandy station va it was terrible with my nox800 acouple years ago! My yard is pretty tuff I'm gonna check this today but the darn audio is dreadful to me not sure I could stand it/also for some silly reason I doubt what the detectors tell me the few rare occasions I've tried!? Daylights coming I'm on it boss! Over in out I'll be back to shout it out! Loud

I wouldn’t base my Deus II confidence on Paystreak. His dig it all methodology is better suited to First Texas single frequency or any old beep and dig units. He doesn’t like SMF, and runs all the latest and greatest SMF machines in single frequency mode digging any two way signal he can find. He believes SMF creates more problems than it solves. He also doesn’t like the complexity that would allow you to learn to cherry pick. He’s an entertaining watch at times though. Particularly his commentary on his “struggling” with the Deus II, yet “smashing it out of the park” and “spanking coins out of the ground” with the Legend, both in single frequency beep and dig setups. I can’t relate to “struggling” with the Deus II so far in such a configuration.

Also I've watched 100's of hours of his, imo he muddies up the nox also! But it is detecting in the real world and imo there is bits of value to be had!

The paystreak reference was sarcasm attempted! I dont base my experience on anyone, my brain like most can be corrupted by others opinion/takes/info is all I was attempting to establish! A few hours on a hard target undetectable past 8" with d2 and nox in my yard after update and others negative experience combined for a evening of doubt! Amended and established 100% confidence the next morning by testing!

I cant either and honestly im Not buying none of that crap! I could be very wrong if so I'd be the first to admit and apologize! Paystreak is paid by nokta/makro and this is my logical conclusion from loving/using singing praise of D2 to it doesnt work and legend is best! Blaming new v6 when I saw someone from a forum offer him zip with .6 he praised and he refused it! That's enough evidence for my conclusion and at the very most dignity he's worthy of hes not paid but internally biases are swaying his opinion! Well dignity may not be the word if hes paid to me hell yeah get paid I'm sure he could use it! Just dont muddy up the community when fools will follow!

Yes,I was using laptop plugged in to the single for connecting media/charging devices/headphones usually right side and nope nope nope! Plugged usb into the ports(usually beside hdmi, etc and 1st go was a successful download v7)

Idk why but short cord for ws6

You have no way to measure silent EMI. Which WILL happen when detectors are 4-5 feet apart. No tests whatsoever are valid with two detectors on and 4-5 feet apart. PERIOD!

So both motectors smacking stuff isn't a good measurement? Your correct it can happen but in my testing scenario it wasn't having negative effect. I was testing off/on game then I just ran em,after 2 box scans,1 deus2 scan after nox not a damn peep(peeps but no turkeys gobbled!) Then I turned the nox off tested much more it was the same.

My yard target or the minie ball at 8" is an outlier(my yard is tuff) because I buried a minie and quarter at 9" in my dads yard upon purchasing D2(kids wanted papaw so that's whr testing took place,1 yard away!) Different dirt as this morning walked up smacked these targets outta the park! Day 1 faint depressing/darn sure didn't love it that day considering ol'noxy spanked em! No issues after proper adjustment after using D2 in the wild digging desirables via custom programs and just knowing pwm sounds aren't the beep and dig type!

May have been making mountians of mole hills on the 8" minie(my yard) as if its tuff for nox it probly should be for D2. I feel like I could hit anything swinging probly to fast before so needing to slow way way down to get solid hits on (simulated locate test). Once located or just swinging/getting hits/I.d. it's not a issue it hits good! The 7"  quarter i can use starship enterprise warp drive even locating! I dont hunt in the wild with this exaggerated swing speed and not exactly sure why its default testing and I'm not whipping the rod(speed as hover/wiggle but full swing is good example) just wanted to state the target may just be that tuff. Again when nox came out I buried 5 objects 8,9 " deep and all were lost! Lol until D2 snagged the quarter and nickel back for me on extremely tuff signals at that! So my yard is tough,I may have been to critical!

This negativity train rolling downhill on D2/updates may have muddied my thoughts after needing to detect differently to consistently locate that 1 minie ball at 8" which to many may seem easy! Thanks paystreak legend freak I need counseling now,1 darn day my D2 confidence went from moon to hell! Smdh for real I took it out 3,4 hours dug more nails than I had in a week still seems I'm getting 2-5 higher i.d. then before and same as before one can wiggle wop a nail/iron into a good signal pretty easily! My fault on bag full o iron for sure although I can get a good signal on the sorts. If I'd listen to the unit and myself those nails/mushroom tips/fat heads/metal screws(big heads) break, crack, blippety blip enough to know its junk iron good signals hit 2 way solidly every direction none of the herky jerky (as they're supposed to) hopefully I'm not the only nut forcing hood signals!

Gonna take deep breathes, hold my index thumb together sitting indian style and fix my ignorance! Let's get the confidence back and lets go Brandob!

I think it's pretty obvious that customers are the new beta testers. This extends to more than just metal detector companies. A company will get much more encompassing information and faster from actual users than from selected beta testers who may not be motivated to report flaws like actual customers will. But as long as the updates keep coming, which have been put out pretty quickly, eventually we'll get a finished product.

100% agree, growing pains are frustrating but the method as you stated is superior in finding, evaluating and most likely reporting(angry customers)! 🙂

You should NEVER do tests with two detectors ON and only 4-5 feet apart.

I understand it can be detrimental that was part of the test as well! Also on/off made NO difference when freq scans were done to points of quite from both units! Freq changing D2 manually has 100% more impact because it changes the machine,I'm not certain to what extent but I notice differences I think! Also went back to the targets of knowledge after previous post, it's not hitting 8" minie ball with stupid fast swing speed but with a fast as any fool( me) would dare to bop around it will hit and i.d. more consistent than nox although I now think btlcap/silencer settings can change i.d's! So pre writing first post I had made programs saved them then tinkered! Well i was getting solid i.d. 81mostly but 81-83 with tight wiggle 81! Charged went back to confirm my confessions and getting 85 so I'm bumfuzzled started checklist bottlecap and silencer were not how i had them when I drew my conclusions (I reckon I baseline saved program before, then fine tuned what I thought was helping!).    Seems the bottlecap thing does stuff for sure a 0 feels open(supposed to) when before imo it did little! I'm not declaring to be the all seeing eye(Midilake the doubtful) bet your ass I can run these things though! And find things!;)

Did alot of testing today on 2 targets and against the nox800! It seems odd, inconsistent or different I dont know exactly what's off! I can get it to better i.d./hit with sensitive changed to ft not sft but swing speed is off from before imo. Like fast doesnt peep, slow bad i.d.,wiggle fastest hits and I'd perfect but have to locate before wiggle so that's an issue! Deephc to sense speeds dont translate same reactivity! Tested tested tested around 4 hours 2 targets then changed to fast full tones and id/hits/fast as I could swing reactivity 2-2.5 absolutely beast mode! Seriously they switched audio with pitch and ft in fast/messed other stuff up completely and hit send! I say this because fast pitch before on jan .6 was this hit dimes under nails any direction and speed and deep as deephc for me I just cant stand pitch and the other tone options did not perform this way!

I'm conflicted to say the least for depending on several variables still big performance just not right boy when they get it right this thing will be untouchable! Imo let's only say when also!;)

Must be said my yard 8" is edge of detection to not detecting with nox800 park 1,field 2,park 2 just machine limits and D2 is 100% stacking up to exceeding and I ran the nox/D2 both on 4,5ft apart with no issues freq scan nox twice though first time both were bazerk! Also turned it off no changes to anything i could tell!:/

I wonder why users find these problems virtually straight away, yet the manufacturers and their testers don't notice them at all with their rigorous testing they do before releasing different firmware versions.    It's happening to both new kids and doesn't really make sense.

They must be testing in controlled xero trash environments and very little at that seemingly!? At this point every update it's hard to consider they are doing much testing!

I've settled into FAST, which is just SENSITIVE with Pitch mode square tones and Reactivity of 3. I'm mostly coin-shooting in modern parks just to learn the D2's nature right now. I've used DEEP HC and RELIC and found a couple of silvers at my roadside carnival, but those modes are only practical on a less polluted site. Get into aluminum trash and you're in for mental overload. I can't tell silver from clad since they seem to ID in the same area. Perhaps with experience there will be some kind of audio tell.

    JP

Maybe modern trash is different than thick iron(assuming so) to some guys. I must be not seeing what you and others are elluding to on this. For me I use filters silencer mid to jacked, bottlexap 4,notch to 40 if I'm not relic hunting and tones are delightful! Foil, slit of thin stuff or non can slaw has a mush to them atleast some do. If your coin shooting specifically notch to 58. 62-78 trash mostly be gone! Of course there are bigger gains to be had finds and unit learning not doing that! Pitch will hit non-ferrous if it can be hit that's for sure what I see testing but I just cant use it knowing the nuanced audio is so lightyears better than any I've used, heard!

Metal detecting nwga using pitch notched like that for coins btw

     Goodluck

  17.   I'd expect loss of programs, I guess its annoying! Very easy to have them again imo naming if is the biggest time consuption!

I'm gonna baseline a few yard targets to see if .7 is on the up and up! My unit is still on january .6 now and I've been loving it!

        Goodluck fellas

  18. Has to be some buttons around,I'm gonna bring nox800 back with me to identify button sigs in ground! I'm only digging 80/81 mostly! Every 85,86,89 broken sig had been iron in this spot so if it flashes higher than 83 I've been moving on! Many more beeps to investigate, dig the bangers then I'll move to learning more on the harder beeps by that time ill be deus 2 highly efficient.

Yesterday hit several solid 75's I know dig all solid but that's not accounting for my lust for lead! I'd mentally break with leaving bulletless knowing they be there and I'm just a swing to unbroken beep away from building the mental health I need!:) kinda serious though,as fact checkers would say "mostly" true! Limited time and my impatience/passion for the lead are a battle within the battle! Working on it all!

I'm certain most know the wierd "mushy or floated out audio on some aluminum?" This machines sound quality is awesome and the main driving factor I wanted it! Have always considered D1 but cal used nox as a all around over deus 1 and its depth limitations or supposed always kept me from it! Expense is big also but I'm super happy I pulled the trigger on the D2! If it's not quite field hunting I'm not sure I'll ever grab my nox800 just because ever again! For science, testing  for sure but I dont see it happening other than those reasons and that says alot about my confidence.    Some dont get along with ol'noxy but pre-D2 I could go anywhere, hunt with anyone and like my chances for the W. From dead ringers to edge of detection I could once call my digs with very high% with the nox! Could again just outta practice,my hunting buddy past away so prior to D2 purchase I hadent been swinging much recently! Never stop chasing info of the soldiers gps positions though, especially the places I work alot and home!

          Thanks

Nice bunch of finds. CW relics are some of my favorite finds. A lot of people can't get excited about digging bullets, I could dig them all day as long as there is some variety to be found. You found a nice variety of bullets. Congratulations! The carbine bullet you are referring to is a Smith carbine if I'm not mistaken.

I'd rather dig relics atleast as of now I would no questions about it! I'm super happy with each and everyone, I can understand the thought line of same old digs if a guy had a thousand plain .58 minie and just desired some spice! Same applies to after the kids go to bed, gotta put in effort for spice although bullet variants are not in our control! Lmao

       Love it,love the smith,need moar!

Awesome finds and each has it's own story. That ring is very intriquing and probably has the most interesting story. Since most of the common foot soldiers in the day came from poor families, I can imagine it was quickly fashioned for a hasty wedding just before Johnny goes marching off to war never to return, and the ring remained lost in that spot until you found it almost 160 years later. Very cool find!

Yes and your little story changed up perspective for this ring to me so that's awesome!  I once found a crude silver ring alongside .36 cal colt in alabama! Thanks man

seems like we are on the same track. keep in touch

Seems to me reactivity of 2 is still very fast, probably fast enough in most cases!? I could be discounting or not really knowing how much faster 4 is than 2 idk. I just know I've did many hours of separation testing and seems that if in most cases 2 doesnt hit 4 wont hit either or if it does on the outlier instance it's not a like wow that's so much better case! ? have yall noticed or felt like this?

  22. Jo        This is the total find hoard of 3 evening hunts combined time somewhr 8-10 hours best gestimate! I'm off work at 530,dark at 830 so it's close enough!

The bullets imo are cut game pieces are really cool to me! I've dug a stretched(nice castle) chess piece squared above rings and stretched a bit a really nice obvious soldier art at a fort in alabama! These few here even the cleaner are cut and rounded edges, real effort for them to be nice by some soldier! I feel like I'll get a few more because I think every evening I've gotten one so the set may have been lost(dumbass me did not note and circle, would have been helpful!).

The carbine or 54ish cal bullet is a first for myself and I love it just dont know the make and model or even vin number. I think just from google picks and 5 minutes it may be a smith carbine, I'll get to the bottom of it this evening when I yet home(real home!).

Just thought I'd encompass all digs of note from the earthworks area! And anyone with "wonder if this boy(38yr old) is digging on parks"? Thoughts!? No I'm not and although I'd skirt the edge as everyone would, I'm way to paranoid for actual park/battlefield/preserve beeping! Private/public/Gods land only for me!;) I respect choice of land owners 100% if they tell me no I dont go! I only throw this out as I was asked privately so I guess that's a thing!?

I do lots of research( no less than thousands of hours) on civil war movement, locations, skirmishes you know the deal! I love uncovering things not widely known and there are many instances left to work after finer details if they can be found I want to find them! It's crazy to think how many times I've went over the exact same materials trying to catch something leading down a rabbit hole to answers I seek! Here and there solid answers (atleast very high percentage gestimations) based on random diary,so and so said blank, lowly unknown officers reports, civilian words heck anyone serious about research will know what I mean!

Whr I live the oldest map is 1891ish with any real road placements, towns and so on. It's a postal map and details are non existent to actual roads it's like they did it just to say "road/town" here. Sadly some talk about that map as its 100%fact on many subjects when the roads dont have curves!?:/ crazy I know! 1932 earliest fact based evidence map! I've been scowerying skirmish reports, foraging anything I can find down deep rabbit caves! Our historical society is so status driven theyve written roads in stone or landmarks, I found reports from union side calling a road a name in one place with 2 landmarks (1 is absolute) referenced clearly showing depending on side doing the writing the bread trail can be very easy to misinterpretation and if not careful your historical society may read certain things and except oh yeah that landmark is here so this is now set in stone to! Atleast the instance I'm referring to I know without doubt they have it wrong because I've read it clearly from several officers involved in the skirmish, one side of the fight just called roads differently than the other, misspelled, wrote and talked differently also shouldnt be a surprise to a logical man/woman!

Any info or opinions on the carbine (maybe) bullet would be much appreciated.

     Goodluck,be safe,be happy

At first and because I had the D1 for years I made a custom program because well... I , you know, I can make a program that works better than the ones that the programmers can make. I did have some success with it. How could I not, really. They did make it idiot proof didn't they? Anyway, I went out the last couple of days to 2 farm fields that me and my buddies have hit many many times. Since there is a ton of junk iron I started with the 2 Sensitive Programs. Sens FT at first. It has -6.4 ( the manual stated the Disc is 6.8 but it's not)  Disc so I can hear EVERYTHING. Talk about sparky. Sounded like overloaded high voltage. I used it for about an hour and I like how fast it is and how there aren't a lot of loud high squeaks when it goes past iron. I have very bad hearing and tinnitus so I struggle  to hear a lot of the tones. I then tried Sens 3 tones and adjusted the tones to where I could hear them best. That was much quieter. Having the Disc at 6.8 did give me those high squeaks coming off of iron though so I had to keep checking to see if it was a good squeak or a bad squeak. Sens also has a small notch that i got rid of. I just don't feel confident with the Sens program. I keep feeling like it's by passing stuff by. Needless to say that even tho I was new to the programs and kept messing with them, they sure do work well...

If any of you use either the Sens or Sens FT let me know how you're doing with them and any tweaks you did. Much more to play with and I still haven't touched General yet.

I basically only use the sense programs so far I've done well! I to made a 3 tone with high tone from 76 up,reactivity 2-3 depending, disc 6.8-7,sensitivity 90-97,silencer 3"btoken tones are indeed shite", no notch, pwm, iron volume 1, audio response +1,

Then a ft set up same disc up to 7ish the rest besides ft same also varies on my button smashing but I'm not bad for that I'm trying to dig not poke buttons(of machines anyway). I reckon about 9 hours in thick iron, bushes, nasty dirt I've dug 15ish bullets from cw +7,8modern and 20-30 mushroom tip nails/chunky headed iron(all bs signals I wiggle into belief knowing better!) Not one bullet or desired non ferrous was anything less than banging 2 way hits!

Damn nice finds you have there! Awesome!
