  1. Got a text yesterday from my buddy Chris, who said dude, get your :minelab:, and lets get out there !!!! ( Well something like that , hehe !!! ) . I told him I can only hunt a half day, even though today was just a great day for a full day of hunting today, darn it !!!!  Ended up finding almost 10 grams today.. :) . The large piece was a little more than a foot down, and just made a break in the threshold, I kicked some dirt out of the way, and it made the nice mellow weewoo sound, and I was like :biggrin: . Some digging in the side of a wash a little more than a foot down, and got a :nugget: .....  maybe a foot away I found another small nugget right on top of the ground, and found another small piece in another wash.

I also brought home a new pet,  and the good ol U.S. deserts give them away for free, as you can see in the picture, he is enjoying his new home....  I have been bringing baby dinosaurs home in the backyard for years, but they never grow up  , they just make babies in my back yard and eat the spiders...

  2. That place sure was a fun hunting due to the remoteness, to bad it was turned into a National Monument, that means no more meteorites, no more prospecting, no more metal detecting, ect from that large area. I hate being a Debby Downer, but a big pet peeve of mine is closing off our lands, so we cannot prospect, or meteorite hunt anymore, and its amazing the amount of land each year that is disappearing.

Thanks for pointing out the video Mitchel. That Joe guy also made some really nice finds on Ivanpah Dry lake near stateline, and a new strewn field south of Boulder City, NV. Not many people know, but that Joe guy is best friends with Robert Ward, and they both went to High School together.

  3. Jp,

Thanks for the video, congrats on a nice nugget. I had a few questions...

    1. Were you able see see what the signal sounded like on Extra deep?

    2. Also if you switched to general normal how did the signal sound?

    3. On the Minelab 19" coil ad it states you recovered a 15 ounce nugget, were you able to get this on video, showing what it sounded like with the 19"?

Thanks for your help, videos, and expertise !!!!

  4. I use backblaze, unlimited data backup of my PC, videos, pictures, everything on my pc , I pay $3.96 a month for the 2 year plan. I figure, buying a 2 new hard drives every 2 or 3 years, so they clone each other and setting it up, ect... costs basically the same, but backblaze runs in the background of my pc, backing up everything. Has both web and mobile app. I think there are others out there like carbonite, ect.... but you can never replace your pictures, videos, and data , better to be safe than sorry. If you dont want your sensitive data like your home porn videos and pictures seen by others put it on DVD, hehe..

  5. Feo2Digger,

I have come across a lot of those old beer cans shown in your pictures, but not in that good of shape, almost all the time completely rusted. I have come across those Apache type cans in Nevada, and Arizona but always thought they were oil, transmission type fluid cans.  I love scouring old minING camp dumps for old bottles, and have a nice collection of old artifacts in a curio cabinet. Good post, will keep a better eye out, now I'm more informed.

P.S. I always find these old artifacts on private lands :tongue:....

  6. Funny how people always jump to the conclusion that companies are in trouble. Minelab lowered the price of the GPZ and "oh no, they are in trouble!"

Detector/ prospecting profits/sales are not doing to hot, talked to someone  who was just laid off a week ago, due to lack of sales, at least from this long established prospecting supply company, couldn't speak for others.... maybe others are expanding. I remember the days when the gpaa shows were jam packed with vendors, now they are half of what they use to be.

  7. Also what do a lot of folks use on their user button on the ZED, ex: Gold Mode, sensitivity, volume, threshold pitch, ect? I tell you what, these ZED's sure are a lot easier to operate than the GPX series detectors were...

  8. Hey JasonG, JP, or anyone else....talking about sensory/hearing adaptation, do you change your tones on the detector, while detecting for long periods, or tend to just leave them alone?

    P.S. Great thread Chris....

It is another great day here with some high clouds filtering the sun.  Today is a day for exploring what the winter has done.

One thing it has done has been to fill up the lake.  All of the flats now have water over them.  The fishing is not so good yet as the fish that were concentrated now have extra miles to go.  They may be in different temperature groups but that is another sport for a different time.

Now is a time for Jungo Road.

    Mitchel

Watch out for the big water trucks, follow Jungo all the way out to the dry lake, where they have burning man, huge dry lake, there's some good meteorites been found out there also.
