  1. Peteren,

I was using High Yield/Difficult, Sens 14, Auto Smoothing Off, Auto GB. Rudy (top hand) was using General/Normal, Sens 9, Auto Smoothing Low, Fixed GB. Is there a wrong way to run the GPZ? No, it will find you nuggets in the Defualt Modes or experimenting with different setting! Until the next hunt

  2. Fred,

I haven't swung the GPZ there yet! But, I would have given Extra Deep a shot and if that didn't work High Yield/Sever. If that wouldn't do the trick, I hold the coil off the ground and inch or two like we did with the GPX's. I've been hunting in Fixed the last couple days and you wouldn't believe how good it is. The GPZ, will run noisy and as you gain more experience with you'll get use to its language...swing that coil slow. Good luck!

  3. I know enough has been said about the GPZ and its abilities to find nuggets missed by previous metal detectors! Today, we wanted to hit and old patch and glad we did. The GPZ, was amazing snagging nuggets in and old pounded patch, it nearly reminded me of the hey days! Needless, to say my hand lower one has only dinks and my partner had the hot coil for some quality nuggets. I might take tomorrow off, still recouping from my Rye Patch trip...but there's gold to dig! Until the next hunt

  4. Rege,

That green scoop is a foot long, but the target was on the tapered slope of the lip of the little wash. It was on bedrock, if I was good at figuring angles I'd guess 8" deep. Just a soft nugget tone at first, but digging down to the target it was getting louder and I couldn't wait to get it in my scoop...lol

  5. Strick,

I have a couple Buddies out at Rye Patch and invit d me to come back to hunt with them. But, I have a guest at my house with their new GPZ for some training in the morning. Toss them nuggets into your poke and think of your next hunt! Talk soon,

    Rick & Robin

  6. Chuck,

Hey we had a great time with you and Lisa! I'm glad you found a handful of nuggets for your poke too. More beer is always good and thanks for helping me dig that nugget out when we met in the goldfield. If you can find me in the middle of the desert, your well on your way to finding a nice nugget! Post your nuggets on this thread is fine. Take care and talk soon,

    Rick & Robin

  7. Paul,

Now, I've know you for years! You have owned every gold detector, that I have owned or still own (GB2). All of us are getting older, shorter/longer hikes, rough quad rides, heavy gear, steep terrain, flat tires are just a few of the hardships we endure in this hobby! Here is my suggestion get a GPZ, and I will train you so you won't want another gold detector but this one! Oh, maybe a GB2, cause their so much fun. See ya soon!

    Rick

  8. Bob,

All your patches will be sent to my 7000 GPS. I don't even know if mine works, I think this machine would be one pound lighter without the GPS...lol. No worries, your GPS cords are safe and sound within your unit on or off.

    Rick

  9. Jason,

Hey thanks for helping me out with your GB2...one day I just might learn to pin point them little nug's with that big coil...see ya in the goldfields!

    Lunk,

Just a matter of time, I know this machine is special and is starting to add some Wieght to the Poke!

  10. Wow, what a trip! A few of us got together for a little outing at Rye Patch and 9 days later I'm finally home. I was excited to run the GPZ on some proven SDC ground and was more than happy with my results. The SDC gave the GPZ a run for the money and it even skunked me one day. But, the GPZ can reach down for them deeper nuggets and hold its own on the shallow ones too! The SDC is just right for my Wife Robin and the GPZ gives me a good workout for a days detecting and a good nights sleep too! Here is the finds before one of our days lunch breaks! Until the next hunt

  11. Well many of you know it's my Big day of the year! St. Patrick's Day is my Birthday, hence LuckyLundy! In true form, I get up and enjoy my coffee and read the morning paper. Done with the morning routine, I grab my gear and head out for my Birthday hunt. The Little Leprechaun, was kind to me again this year and he tossed me a bone from his pot of gold. This target wasn't even a target, just a noisy spot that I thought I better checkout as I'm learning the deep sounds of the new GPZ. Needless to say, it was pretty deep and this patch was well worked over by all previous Minelab PI models. It hit the scale at 5.87 dwts...Until the next hunt!
