I got my 4500 fully modded by Detectronics last year. 250+ pieces of gold later (2.55oz) and I cant go wrong. Coupled with a 9" Elite coil and a Rodworthy EMI shield have made it the best detector Ive ever owned. Super quiet (almost zero EMI), fully adjustable frequencies and transmit gain make it a killer for small gold at depth and bigger gold with big coils. I get gold 99% of every day out. Loving it! đ Pic shows all my gold since Xmas (1.1oz).

Jack Gifford is dead, and all the White's engineers are gone.
I was gonna say that too Karl....ever since Jack passed away, Tesoro had no Engineers....main reason why they went bust. No innovation= no sales.
-
a pulse delay of under 5uS with ground tracking and the ability to use mono, DD and AI coils would be a huge bonus!Â
-
I think it needs to be said.... INNOVATE OR PERISH. I would've thought that Tesoro going under was a perfect wake-up call to the whole industry (especially in the US). The 24K was the only Whites product Ive been excited about for over a decade. Lets face it, Minelab, Nokta/Makro and XP have the Lions share of the coin/treasure/beach/relic market sewn up worldwide with only a decent percentage of 'loyal' US users continuing with American made products. The rest of the world looks at US detectors and says....'meh'.Â
Â
Ask yourselves, when and what were the last US made detectors that actually got you excited? Even the Impulse AQ is a Euro design. Garrett and FTP need to inject some serious $$ into new innovation and design now, or head the same way as Tesoro and now Whites.Â
-
Now we just gotta wait for the Impulse AU to be announced lol A gold prospecting version HAS to be on the cards....

A guy here in Oz has a heap of spare parts etc leftover from the Tesoro dealership (ex Dave Bishop) in Wodonga. Ad here:Â https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/west-wodonga/miscellaneous-goods/metal-gold-detector-parts-coils-etc-tesoro-and-more/1238050515

Bad advice Iâd say.đĽ´Â
GPZâs have been on consignment since day dot.
Â
OK, well thats that cleared up...makes sense anyway at the price they sell for....many dealers couldn't afford to stock them in any other fashion I'd expect. No doubt that will continue when the new, more expensive replacement arrives on the scene too lol đ
-
I dunno how long this 'consignment' GPZ arrangement with dealers has been going on, but what does consignment deals and free coils say to you, the potential buyer??? It says to me... 'Run out all the stock coz something new is coming'. I was in a dealers showroom a few days ago and a guy wanted to trade-in a 5000 on a 7000. The seller was advised to wait a few weeks 'coz ya might regret it'. I'll leave that for you all to ponder.....

I'd be surprised if there was a dealer conference, current conditions being what they are.
Yeah there was'talk' that it was gonna be a tele-conference instead. But no word....whether its been postponed or not, who knows?
-
Has the Minelab dealers conference happened yet? Was that on last weekend or next weekend? Maybe this FB event is gonna let the cat out of the bag re the new Minelab detector models......we'll see....
-
Yes, I'm doing the same Mike....but the US$- AU$ is a killer at the moment, its gonna cost me 1/3 of the price of my 24K just to get one coil!!!đ
-
NE, At least 2 of those machines you quoted are 'on the money'... going by the whispers being generated for the past several months...

For what it is worth this was a major deciding factor in my ditching my Gold Monster and keeping the 24K. Minelab's policy of limiting coils lost me and switched me to White's in this instance. Not only does the 24K have twice as many coils, you don't get the coil knock issues with the 24K to anywhere near the extent as exists with the Gold Monster. You can scrub the ground with the 24K with no problem. Plus more control options, better balance, does not roll over when set down, etc.
I am also an ex Monster owner....complete junk next to the 24K....I owned a GM1000 for 2 weeks and happily ditched it for the 24K. Soooo glad I did! Now only waiting for the 6x4DD coil to be available...

Wish I knew what type of soil that was to be so hard to dig.
Any dirt here in Victoria.... the hoe-picks are a must have, along with a good bar and a pinpointer (which they neglected to use).Â

The early Whites CC coils are extremely 'crap' here in Oz, even in ground we consider quiet or mild. The amount of groaning noise masked most targets to the point where it was a 'throw away' coil. USA soils might be a far better match than here.... Minelab even tried to copy the Whites CC coil for their XT17000 as an accessory coil (internals were identical & same specs) and that was also a waste of time here. The DD coils totally transform the early high frequency Goldmasters though, a totally different beast!

I got a used one from the USA (Ebay) a few years ago for only $150 and used it a lot for a few months until I managed to find another GB2 for a reasonable price...BUT I also had to replace the crap Conc coil (red label one) with a later-built GMT DD coil. Fabulous detector and a joy to use especially when you've got a bung shoulder lol. Some pics here of some of the gold I got with it:

Ive only been waiting for one for a year...... patience is pretty thin lol đ

Awesome, thanks Chase! âşď¸

yes thats a multi IQ machine with a narrow band GPR...Called the MDS10 nowadays. Still not for gold prospecting unfortunately....

Agree with Steve that if Fisher is not thinking about building this capability in natively, they risk looking like they are behind in industry feature trends for detectorist convenience.
That being said, it is a relatively simple matter to retrofit an affordable (<$60US) low lag wireless system using relatively inexpensive APTX LL bluetooth components to practically any detector with a headphone jack. A lot less expensive proposition compared to proprietary wireless after market solutions offered by ML (ProSonic at $280), Garrett (Lynx at ~$130), and even Quest (at ~$100 - $160).
That is the setup I use for my GPX 4800.
Chase, can we see more of your Aptx wireless headphone setup??? I am having difficulty in getting a decent LL transmitter to plug into my GPX4500.... I'd be most appreciative seeing your full setup (transmitter, receiver & preferred headphones). Thanks âşď¸âşď¸

I wonder if any detector company's will look into GPR sonar for detecting making fast wave sonar tuned to bounce back off gold this would give massive depth improvements. Whether the tech or knowledge is there yet who knows.. They already use it to find large stashes etcÂ
GPR for use on the goldfields and versions thereof were trialed, developed, altered, modified and re-trialed many times over the years and all failed to live up to expectations due to the mineralized ground conditions. 1st one I saw was back in the 90's. Various European and US companies attempted it.

I'm going to make my prediction now. GPX 6000, mostly the same as the 5000, other than the chip system to prevent off brand coils đ
Haha, Minelab have the reputation of building detectors that  perform and improve technology. A 5000 without coil options will sell like a dinner plate wired to a cardboard box....on a stick of course... đ
-
Perhaps Its just Minelab attempting to recreate the wheel.... you'll notice that 'time constants' are mentioned as well as the sampling (measuring) period which are all PI references. The only constant wave part is during the receive- sampling section of the code....which shows its more of a hybrid system with perhaps PI as its core....remember it still has the same audio as the GPX's and the dual channel MPS (which isnt acknowledged but easily heard by any operator) reverse tone audio responses. Maybe someone can correct me, but I seem to recall the very few references of the operating frequency being in the PI ballpark also..... Minelab technicians also referred to GPZ as a PI type when it was released initially. I 'feel' that going by user experience and the tech-speak, the 7000 is a hybrid PI with a fancy name. But of course the tech works......and works damn well. Hopefully ML expand on the tech and bring us all something even more amazing Â

If it can beat my modded 4500, then I'm interested.....only finger-biting concern is the price! If I hold my breath and pray to the gold gods, it will be around $6K AU. Expect I'll be disappointed....đ
