  1. Don't know anything about your import/duty fees. Possible you can still save money by buying in USA and shipping it to your country. I first went without wireless headphones. Bought a wrist strap holder for the remote control and ran the backphones (about $25) wire along my arm. That way I could still set the detector down without being attached to it. Really don't see any really big advantage in the wireless headphones. That's about the US dollar price for a full Deus with extra coil, wireless headphones, MI-6 pinpointer not counting any unadvertised discount. Can't imagine it costs too much more than $100 extra shipping (XP detectors are very light weight). I sent you a private message.
  2. I've been running IAR at "2" or "3" and sometimes "0" when going for absolute depth. i think it is to your advantage to use some IAR because it can break up some of the iron stuff and make it noticeable rather than relying totally on the Zip-Zip sound. But depends on how much trash you are wading through and whether or not you can use a shovel to dig with. With a shovel you can dig more iffy and deep targets which can be a PITA with a hand trowel. Gary has some other videos on his youtube channel that discuss the Gold Program.
  3. Gary did a video on the DPR 600 which also runs the Gold Program. Follow this video for tuning instructions and listening for the Zip-Zip sound is how you do it. It's deeper than other programs but you still dig some deep iron. Not talking about nugget hunting-- coins. relics, etc. I learned it by working with it about an hour every time I go out (Deus Gold Field Program). It can be overwhelming so best to learn in an area with not too much trash and starting out don't dig too many deep targets. Also you can cross check them with another program and you will see the extra depth of the Gold Program as many targets will not be detectable with the other programs. So you have to gamble with these or just leave them if you are in a private yard, etc..
  4. Like i said, check with the dealers for their best sales. Free MI-6 Pinpointer and free coil. Not to mention recently discounted prices and further dealer discounts. Pretty good time to buy one.
  5. I learned that one from Garrett's. maybe i didn't explain it properly. Not even sure i can. Too much iron and it drowns out the good targets, makes it harder to keep your concentration, ear fatigue. Add to that what i've read on the forums--people want iron volume control like on the Deus.
  6. That's just what you have to decide what you can deal with. Iron volume will mask some targets. This is nothing to do with XP detectors. I realize some people dig it all. I didn't read this whole thread carefully to see you were after relics. With practice you can hear the zip-zip sound of a good target in the Gold Program.
  7. For what it's worth, the ORX was designed primarily as a gold nugget detector. Probably a real good idea to check around on the forums to see if other people are happy with the features or lack thereof. You might even ask some people. Stuff like iron volume adjustment may not seem like much but in a trashy area might make the difference in being able to work the area or not. The Deus can work those areas better than most, that means you'll make finds where others can't work. 99% of my finds are in areas others have already worked. My opinion spend the money on what you really want. Pay Pal credit usually offers six months free interest, and if like me you can get a credit card offer to transfer that balance for another year or more and pay it off slowly with no interest. There are some good sales going on now, coils, MI-6 pinpointer (get one for sure).
  8. No wireless headphones should not be the deciding factor. There's been many good reviews of the ORX. It is basically the same detector with less features. My opinion a new detector is probably the way to go because you don't know how much care they took with the batteries, coil in particular. You might want to shop around at the dealers. i saw somebody with a good sale going on the Deus--two coils. More dollars but it might be the way to go. If you are happy with the machine you are going to use it more and that means more good stuff in your pouch. You have to contact the dealer to get the best unadvertised price. They are not allowed to show their discounted price.
  9. My two cents here: I have an AT Gold that has All Metal mode. I can turn the Sensitivity way down--much lower than in Discriminate mode. Not sure this would help because 50 years the ring is probably quite deep. Anyway, you might see if your detector works the same way.
