  1. Good read Steve; Thanks! And also Thanks Chuck!๐Ÿ‘

ย  ย Another detector once owned and tested by Sven! Glad he's still around, and I still have one of the PI detectors he built, that i bought from him; actually my first PI!๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  2. ย  ย Another great round of camping/detecting fun!

ย  ย I just figured that many of the shallow good targets, you probably nabbed last year! And this year, you are more proficient with the D2, and your programs! Alot to be said about being in tune with what your swinging! But, as I recall, you weren't a slouch with the 600 either, albeit maybe a bit less accurate in target ID's, which is on the 600!

    Great job!!๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Wives that enable our fun are priceless.ย  My Wife just giggles at my excitement over what I think are killer finds.ย  She always asks if I found anything good, and when I say yes and show her an old silver dime and a junky piece of .925 jewelry she really does just giggle.ย  She thinks it's just dumb, but cuteย ๐Ÿ˜†.ย  I think some of the silly stuff she likes to do is just dumb, but cute tooย ๐Ÿ˜.ย  It works for us!

Dave, couldn't laugh,ย and give you a thumbs up to boot, so here you go!! Steve doesn't limit these!!๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  4. ย  ย  Your definitely a shining example for endurance, and patience! That's alot of hours invested; again! Also, to me, proves you gotta dig the trash, to find the good stuff; as in clearing the way to the masked finds areas!ย  Obviously, most are not willing to, or can't do that! Seems like a continuing winning formula for you!ย I wonder if anyone detecting after you does any better, or just gives up!๐Ÿ˜†

ย  ย  Anyway, gotta also give some credit to any (especially yours) spouse that endures our hobby, and the amount of hours away! I'm sure some relish their own time alone, but other's are not so understanding! ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

ย PS- While I do miss your "Trash Art"โ„ข๏ธ! If that was a consession to your wife; timewise, I completely understand, and commend your dedication to your "other" hobby?!!๐Ÿ‘ฐ๐Ÿ˜‚

So, while we're off-topic, here's a few reasons to have a pinpointer, and a few disadvantages:
    older pinpointer thread

Thanks for putting that link up Pimento!๐Ÿ‘

ย  ย Under your post back than, is mine! And this is the same pinpointer still going strong! Just snapped this pic!! Same coating, newer tip cover, and newer bungee, and hundreds, if not thousands more times used!๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  6. ย  ย  Have always had either/or a tip on, or a dip in Plasticoatโ„ข๏ธ! Both inexpensive insurance, and easy to remove! The thickness is nominal, so it shouldn't affect sensitivity at all! Hasn't on mine! Tips cheap on Ebay!

ย  ย And also a lanyard/bungee is cheap insurance for loss of pinpointers! Can't tell you how many times it's saved mine from loss, other than many!๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  7. ย  ย Great ingenuity, and modding! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Something I may suggest (though Unsolicited๐Ÿ™„) to help your design, is a 90ยฐ elbow for the coil connection! Gotta be out there somewhere by now! Maybe Tony Eisenhower knows, or can make?๐Ÿค”

ย  ย I'm guessing that the coil so close to the pod isn't causing any issues, as the detector is nullifying it upon startup??

ย  ย One other question I have, is can the pod easily convert back to regular shaft use, and configuration? Looks like it does, but had to ask!

ย  ย I can see a few old "land" Noxes being converted to this soon for kneeling nugget duty!!๐Ÿ˜

    Great job!๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  8. ย  ย Pretty much everything is run through the Risk/Reward filter first! There's risk in every thing, but you gotta live your life! And common sense in the application of the above, will generally keep you well!!

ย  ย That being said, here's my brief list of possible threats, biggest to smallest! And it is intentionallyย not location dependentย ! Some in order may change, which may be individual/location dependent !!ย JMO

    #1 Harmful Humans

    #2 Weather related events

    #3 Wildlife

    #4 Any possible health issues

    #5 Legalityย

  9. ย  ย Well Compass,

ย  ย Iย may be doing a repeat of your story; minus the screwing on the screws! (Thanks for the info๐Ÿ‘)!

ย  ย  Had the Nox out this evening for a little sunset beach detect; finished, rinsed off in the local barely running shower there(as always), and headed home! As I'm bringing the detector into my house, it suddenly turns itself on, and won't shut off!๐Ÿ˜ต Crap!!

ย  ย Eventually it "let" me shut it off, but than no more on! Took the pod off to examine, and opened up the battery compartment, and a bit of water!! Double crap!!

ย  Upon examination, there is a crack on the front face of the handle, under the rubber coating, running from the shaft interface, up the molding seam, past the "O ring sealed๐Ÿ™„" compartment! Wonderful!!๐Ÿ’ฉ

ย  ย Well, nothing lasts forever, especially a Nox 800! So, "IF"ย I decide to replace it, this will be my 3rd pod!!๐Ÿ˜ก and yes, it's now out of warranty!!ย

ย  ย Strongly considering letting dead Nox's lie, as I have older and better(+-) detectors to use, that don't repeatedly fail me! (Also had to replace two 11" coils previously; Coil Ears!๐Ÿคฌ)

ย  ย Already had basically decidedย not to give ML another penny anyway, so I guess this is a fitting end! Think I will give it a Viking send-off inย the firepit๐Ÿ”ฅ, first "cool" weather we get!! It's at least earned that!!๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ตย And part-out the rest on Ebay!ย ย

ย  ย Wishing you much luck๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ€ย and finds, with your new pod!!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  10. ย  ย Little late on this post, but I have drilled drain holes in all my lower shafts, If not there already! Especially useful on land/water transition detecting at the beach, as sand/water always find its way into the bottom of the lower shaft and adds weight, if for no other reason!!

ย  ย When I rinse out at the beach shower through an upper shaft hole, the water flushes everything out of the drain hole!!ย I also removed the top shaft caps on my land/beach detectors, and have hose adapters for a counter weight, if needed! I can rinse the whole shaft inside, from top to bottom here also!! Twistlocks, of course, still take a bit more maintenance, when I get home, so they don't lock up from sand salt, and need lubrication to stay operational!!๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
