  1. Just (AQ) Air test to see if they even hit...Compared to the yellow gold I can see why I don't find a lot of white gold rings. Seems the smaller the gold target....the less they are affected by the reject modes...Tones/Mute....Also from testing the machine I can almost tell you how they will hit in the sand..just add one (inch) for the small gold (.49)  and (maybe) two inch's to the (1.36)  but I will test and see..

Have to check my video's and see if I have any of these on video being found with the Excalibur..

    MY GUESS IN THE WETSAND... (.49) 5 inch's.....................(1.36) 9 inch's

Dang!! you are awesome Joe! In the video I hear some faint signals which I would dig and you didn't and you find a real signal which turns out to be Gold. That's a comparison between my ears and a PRO ears that makes such a huge different! Great job!

Old ears here buddy....The video does not share the full volume on the targets all of the time...so the video volume can be a little off (Normal or faded) .... The Go Pro has 3 holes for the micro phone to capture the audio and for some reason it will switch from one Mic to the next which causes the audio to fade in and out..only if I use the external speaker, like I used in the test can you really hear the normal audio. That make sense..?

Go to 1:10 in this video..as I am Pin Pointing the target you will hear the audio fade out then come back..............6 minute video also...Very first time I was in the water with the AQ, and very first target I dug with it, and first target of the day...so excuse my poor pinpointing...I've got it perfect now so I will share more later...so go to 1:10 in the video to see the fading of the audio.. All metal hunting..

OO and the "AQ" loves to go off when your scoop is several feet away, I learned as the scoop comes around the "AQ" goes far right, then after all is dug the scoop goes far left then the "AQ" can come back around.

Also notice one reason I chose this spot was those big power lines up in the right hand corner, after 3 minutes you can see them in the video...

And something else, I have No problem giving away the location...for I know "Unless you have a AQ your not going to like this spot" It's been hammered for years and years by almost every machine made.....And I even mined it with my sifter and scoop............but the "AQ" lights this place up still.

I borrowed the TDI from a friend who was very kind in mailing it to me from Connecticut..so I have a couple to do for him also...tides are off this week so we should be good.. should be about 50 us dollars shipped..

OBN or Steve, Love these first reports- thanks! When possible could you please do a test with gold chains? I am thinking that the AQ with its 7us pulse delay should detect gold chains- at least larger ones. I don't believe that most PI detectors will "see" gold chains (my Dual Field with its 15us wouldn't). The Beachhunter with its 10us does detect larger gold chains.

Sorry to say that is it's only weak point..And that's for me, I have yet to set down and play with the settings to see if I can pull them in...It will get the larger chains...7 gram but the less then 2 grams chains, I've not been able to tune in on them. I know we have some heavy duty Pro PI hunters getting there machine soon....So I think in a few weeks we will be hearing a lot more.

I have tested just about everything possible but some one did ask the other day on a small white gold ring so I'll have to go thru and find one from the treasure chest..

  5. Thanks for the Question Kac and Badger...

I had done 3 different test on Nickels at 3 different beach's, ( two of the test were with nickels on the end of yard sticks, then one was dropping the nickel down the PVC pipe) results were 17 plus which is the one in the video below, next test I buried the 18 inch yard stick nickel and it hit fine, then the PVC pipe nickel test which hit at 19-20...The beach in the video below I chose for it had lite veins of black sand in the mix..if you look you can see some behind my scoop. The "AQ" had no problem here hitting the target at 17...the reason I chose 17 inch's...Rick had posted he had got 17 inch's on his beach trips, kind of figure 17 was the limit...I was wrong, it hit good so I went to 18 inch's next trip out.....it hit that good so the PVC pipe kind of gave me more range and easier. Alex Tartar seen the PVC pipe video with the nickel and said your going to need a longer piece of pipe...he was right...but I'm not sure if I can dig a hole 24 inch's deep

The settings here were Delay 11, ATS 0, sensitivity 8, volume 6, threshold 4/5, then mute mod... 3 hour hunt, no problems.

Joe,  You mention using a delay of 11. Did you have to use a higher delay because of the water depth / wave action?

Yes, I did end up going to 11.5 later in the hunt and sensitivity 5, the water got even rougher near the end of the hunt.....when under water it ran very smooth. And this is hunting in the Bay just up from the ocean inlet.  (Saltwater content is 30 PPT) This was my first trip out with the "AQ" in these conditions so I am still learning how to deal with different things. They could change as I learn more....As I learn I will share...

And Thanks to everyone for the positive comments, I ran out of likes so just let everyone know I like all of them...

  7. Did several test for myself to see what the AQ  can do..Air Test , and In the sand. Learning what the machine is capable of is a great advantage when hunting. Like the nickel test I went to 3 different beach's to see how different each beach was and how depth was affected...3 different test, 3 different results. All excellent ...17+...18....19/20 plus. Very consistent in depth. I found on all of those test if your a threshold hunter and hunt slow a few more inch's can be added to the depth. Even on the gold there was a noticeable change ........... where you hear the change...stop, take a scoop to check ..the signal is stronger you dig......

Come on Joe.....into the waves and swell like a real pirate. This calm lake hunting must get boring (except for the gold)........if you’re not getting upended and tossed around in 4 foot breakers and spending 5 minutes trying to find your scoop then you’re

missing out on the real fun......😜😜

Its a little noisy during the adjusting and going back in the water but once the coil is flat on the bottom and moving very little noise. Video really does not show how washing machine the conditions were. Later I did discover when taking the coil back into the water you tip it on it's side and take it under. It reduced the noise until you leveled the coil out then all would go silent. I was really surprised how well it did. The settings here were Delay 11, ATS 0, sensitivity 8, volume 6, threshold 4/5, then mute mod... 3 hour hunt, no problems. It will be out a lot more once I get the new battery made for it.

  9. Thank you River Rat, I really love the "AQ" but let me add it's not for every beach hunter. If your hunting fresh drop beach's only I would say stay with the Nox or main machine. But like me if your looking for deep gold or ship wreck treasures ..or for me of late 2 small beach's that have been hammered by everyone including me with every water machine made....take the AQ in and wake the deep targets up...

Hate to give up one of my spots but this is one of the 6 gold rings I've dug with it..6 gold rings and 1 gold earring stud..so far

This spot I went in digging faints only...shallow target I pass....this thing is on steroids so watch your volume..also the volume does fade in and out on this video but because the way the Go Pro is setup with my head phones. I believe from testing different rings this Gold ring was in the 14 inch / 35cm depth range..weight 1.77 grams...Size 6...Delay is 8.5 volume 5, sensitivity 5..ATS 0 Threshold is 4/5.. All metal

Sorry I did not post anything on this earlier I was just waiting for the right time. And Thank You for posting, I was not sure how some would take me having the AQ...one thing for sure, I will try and help all with there questions..Posted here on Steves Forum only...

Will I use the AQ all of the time...No...I see it complimenting my hunting style with the Minelab Excalibur. .

One note, I have now learned...as the scoop comes around the AQ goes to my far right and as the AQ is coming back around the scoop goes to the far let...

  10. My advice is pack  two of everything just in case something breaks. I've been a faint signal hunter for several years now, One thing it's not really the scoop part but how you have the handle setup to work for you. I've got a grippy mix of epoxy and sand to help me grip and pull the handle. Then I have a couple of pull donuts on the handle. For me it's about getting the sand/gravel/clay/oyster shell mix out of the deep hole. There have been times where I would be kicking the back of the handle right above the kick plate on the scoop just to get it to go deeper. One just has to be careful they don't start a target that will be to deep to get too. I hate leaving targets behind.

  11. KInd of related to the subject. I have a telephone back up battery pack  that I use to add to my Go Pro's run time. I just turn the Go Pro on and it runs for 6 plus hours..I have it strapped to the top of my head phones on the crossover band. It's been working for over a year now, and I hunt in the water only. Amazing with all of it 3 small plugs I've yet to have a problem.

The white chamber on the headphones I made to make sure the audio of the detector is fully captured. Something very important for I learn from watching my own video's.

I don't mind the coiled cable on the detector, more of a safety tether for me being in the water mostly

  12. Sorry to hear the conditions. Just part of the challenge.......

I was out yesterday, playing the tides..looked great on the online Live buoy's markers and was dropping fast. Winds looked ok but were high... Got there and there was so much boat traffic and winds ...It was bad waves from all. I tried..just a few targets. So rough I could not hear faint targets.Which is all I look for..deep faint's...At days end..It was a great "Washing Machine" workout...
