Decided to reduce the prices of the books to further interest.
Clive Clynick's books are now $13 ea.
Bob Brockett's book on discrimination, now $40.
Or buy all for $70... What a deal!!

I personally think after using one for nearly 20 years the 10x6 white elliptical one is still the best coils they made, one after market one that does come close is the SEF 8x6 coil which i use on a few of my detectors,i purchased on just last week brand new for my T2 which makes it a deadly combination, currently my SEF 8x6 one for Whites detectors is on my DFX.
Hi RickUK,
I own a V3i that has 10" D2 mounted on it. I also have the SEF 6 x 8 DD. The 10" D2 is "V" rated. Will that pose problems for the MXT?

Looking into purchasing an aftermarket coil, equivalent to White's DD eclipse for an MXT specifically. I really don't know whats out there from other manuf.
Looking for a HOT (sensitivity/depth) coil. Better target separation is a plus too. Or would you recommend I stay with whites coil? Any experience and feedback would help. Thanks, TC-AZ -

The best book ever written on metal detector discrimination, explains in detail exactly how the target id scale came about, lots of illustrative photos. One of the real classics in the field.
Yes Steve, one of the best ever written about the subject. All theories and techniques tried and true explained by Bob Brockett.
I have read this book many times over the years, that it comes second nature when I'm out in the field hunting. Today's detectors are of the VLF and TR platform of 60 plus years ago when it all began. A great book for the beginner or a seasoned detectorist. TC-AZ

Does this price that always comes up on everything includes shipping?
Chuck
Yes Chuck, I completely forgot to say this in my write-up. All prices include shipping. Sorry about that.

I would try a slow setting (5-7 min) epoxy for repair of coils and such... the kind that model builders use. It comes in various consistencies from gel to watery. That's if you like to DYI or can't find an extra cover.
Hey a little dab will do you 😀

Welcome to the forum, from southern AZ. What detector do you own or are you comtemplating on buying one?

Nice write up Steve. I hope you and all that responded have continued success in detecting for many years to come.
Here are my 3 that I presently use and in no particular order.
1) XL-PRO last of meter w/needle
2) V3i w/coils
3) Pulse Scan TDI w/3 coils
All White's. Kinda looking at the Manticore, but not serious enough... maybe in the future.

I said U.S. perspective. Certainly might be different elsewhere, with brands not even mentioned being premier in other markets. And I’m talking about what is selling new, not what people are using per se. There are still people using White’s but they are a part of the past and not what will drive the technology forward.
Based on total sales worldwide Garrett is still a major brand, even if they are missing from some local markets. They sell far more in Europe than you might think. Still, I’m curious. So in the UK what brand would you put in Garrett’s place? Minelab, Nokta, XP, and ?????
I agree with Steve. What will get us (White's users) moving forward in the new technology? It totally depends on YOU. I hear, talk and read how we will use our detectors until the day we die. It seems that it is driven by a new generation of detectorist's. We older guys and gals get into a comfort zone where we are happy and don't like change.
I am 65 and still willing to learn new things especially detectors. in my local club there are some that still have flip phones and can't or won't even text. And some members that don't want to bother with email so they want for you to call or mail the newsletter. TC-AZ

Spacefury65, I would say Go For It! I used to like to take things apart and tinker with things, experiment and test. Inquisitive minds think alike... Oh Yea!!!
Thanks for sharing 👍

Man, I always wanted to get one back in the mid 70's. But as a kid, couldn't afford one, so I settled on a Jetco Mustang. Then I got outta H.S. and was working, so I purchased a White's 5000-D. What I read was how the Super Pro's had superb discrimination on junk items. What is your take on it, since you own one?

Kctrading, if Centerville Electronics doesn't have the parts, then you can look out for broken not working detector and salvage what you need. You may also search on e***. Or other sites that have rhe detector such as yours. Good luck!

I have a Pulse Scan TDI and would like to know on the connector that plugs in the machine, what is the positive (+) end of the plug, the ring (outside) or is it the center?
Lastly, does anyone where I can get an electronic schematic for the TDI? Thank you, TC-AZ

Thanks Jim for the feedback. Contemplating in purchasing one that I saw FS. In the past, I've seen them on the market, but here and there. And you're right when you said: had little mention anywhere...
Oh well?? Coiltek and others seem to be hotter on gold in crevices and pockets in stream beds.
Thanks for your feedback, TC-AZ

Jim, Can you be more specific, like depth, sensitivity to relics, coins and gold?
Thanks, TC-AZ

Would like to know if any of you used this coil on a big box TDI? Trying to get some opinions and/or feedback. I heard that White's put it out for users who hunt for gold in Africa. How does it rate toward other TDI coils in comparison is my main concern?
I just purchased a big box TDI and waiting for it at the end of week. Can hardly wait to use it!
Would it be advantageous to get one or would I be stuck with a "lemon"?TC-AZ
