People often think their personal preferences are superior to other people's

Yes mine is better than most others, because it came from my grandfather and he told me so. The 800 is a great machine and nothing compares to mine.

Steve I know what you are saying and have read many things on this forum that suggest the same thing that you are saying. Some times a person knows what a detector is saying to the person and they know what they find because they know their machine. The tech has almost run out of things to improve on and almost any good machine is just like the next one on the market.

Enough said from me as I have had to much moonshine and the screen is getting hard to see. I hope everyone can understand what I am saying. My 800 is better than your's

  2. Welcome and glad to have you here!

I think we could also learn a lot from you with what you have done and I know if you ever have a question that someone here could help you out.

Hope to read some of your stories of hunts that you have and maybe see some pictures of your finds.

    Good luck and good hunting.

I'm  just not confident enough yet on identifying it to eat them yet.

Down load a picture of it from the internet and when you see a very large growth o a tree look at the picture. They are either on a tree that is dying or at a dead trees base most of the time. They take on the taste of almost anything that you cook them with. Great on steak, chicken, pork, and even if you put them on burgers. I have made soups out of them and use them all the time.

Good luck on finding some and learn how to keep them going.

You've collected so many permissions it boggles the mind.?

You can actually cherry pick the locations instead of just the targets..?

As many people has said so many times on here " It doesn't hurt to ask unless they have a shotgun pointed at you".

So the more you ask permission and interact with them the better your chances to get their permission.

  5. I have to say it is a new model swing arm that either has a coil scuff plate and a stand that holds the detector up by a couple of paddles so that you can dig up the gold without dropping the detector.

It could also be some new way to go crazy just guessing what it is.

What ever it is I'm sure that someone out there will be needing it to keep the load off their heart.

Good luck on what ever it is and I hope that you sell a lot of them.

  6. When I am in the creeks near me I get that a lot, it could be a very small piece of iron, or even a very small piece of gold. There is also bits of silver in these creeks also and they can do the same.

Good luck and look very close when they are out of the ground and you not get a signal as they can also be a high iron clay that you are hearing.

  7. Those are amazing finds and also hard to find at that.

Great hunt and you really showed your skills with your detector on those finds.

Someday I hope to be as good as some of the people on here.

Good luck on your next hunt and stay safe out there.

Would an obviously staged find in this context immediately put you off, or would you see it as part of the joke?

Should I see a staged video find on detecting what I would do is just pass on all others from that person. Integrity is the most important thing a person has in life.

If you have already put that out there please go back and let the people know that you staged it to show what a detector can do, and promise that it will never happen again. Some times finding only junk is better than finding something good if you wish to share the videos.

are you using the 800 for prospecting in the location you have posted to your profile?

    Yes I  am.

I have found that when I do get a chance to detect that it is only a very short amount of time due to work.

I only go maybe 15 miles from home and look in creeks on or near farm land with permission of course. I do have a nice size creek that I go to on a regular basis, because there is plenty of flour gold in them.  I will start detecting the sides of the creeks and get a few tones, then I get a few pans full of pay dirt and check it out.. What I like the best near me is a creek that shows some quartz and black sand on the walls and that is the first place I look.

Don't get me wrong about how much you will find in those places, but I have found a few ounces over a year of work. Should the work don't get you the bugs just might. You will be using a pan, a sluice and almost anything you can to get as much as you can. I have even gone to the Salvation Army stores and found some 5 gallon strainers in the cooking area and used those to classify some of the soil so I could run the rest through my sluice. Those do pay for themselves in the long run. I take it that you are in central to southern IN. which is a nice area to be in for gold. I have been to the southern end next to Kentucky and found some nice gold on a few farms down there.

I am located almost 50 miles south of Springfield, IL.

    I hope this helps,

    Caleb

  10. My 800 with the 10x5 on it has found me good solid gold in a few creek beds that I have been sluicing in. Most of our gold is flour gold but once in a while you get a nugget about the size of bird shot. I have used it a lot to find gold bearing ground around here and it has always put us on it to sluice.

Very fine detector with the right coils on it and easy to use.
