I received the Legend 15" coil I ordered directly from NEL today. I'm happy to have it & think it will be a great addition for me.
Ordered 03/14/2024. The factory shipping box is even in good shape. The postage looks like it went around the Moon to get to Texas. 18 inches, here I come!😁

I was able to get out for a short while to test/hunt with the new dt feature of the new V1.15 update. It has shown very good promise in my testing at home for both improved deeper target acquisition ( especially in mineralized ground) and improved unmasking in Iron. The afternoon was quite warm, about 90 degrees F with high humidity. Summer is near & I'm not used to it yet. The bugs are also pretty bad right now so I only stayed about 2 hours. Out of a handful of targets, there were 3 deeper ones that were found with the dt feature active & set at 4-5 that would not have been noticed without using dt. All were decent non ferrous items. Nothing over 6" deep, but that just goes to show, how severely, high mineralization handicaps even modern SMF detectors. These were all targets I would have been over before, using The Legend prior to V1.15 dt. I still need to try the dt out in some dense nails/iron trash spots to confirm it's benefits in unmasking. That will be the next little muggy buggy hunt. So far I am very pleased with what Nokta has, once again added for us.

Chuck, I don't think Nokta is "running on borrowed time". I think they are paddling their own canoe and not letting other "bigger" companies set the rules. They obviously don't take kindly to being bullied, as they shouldn't. They will introduce any new products when they feel it is ready. I think we will all be pleasantly surprised with whatever it might be & see the "rules of the game" changed in the users' favor.

Your Large Cent looks to be in nice condition. Those are some pretty woods that you are hunting in. Glad you made a new friend.

And here is the second video on V1.15 that covers be :Beast Mode",

Here is the first of 2 videos I did on the new V1.15 update. This one focuses on the dt feature.

Glad you got your coil. It should do very well. I’m still waiting on mine, so you give me hope that it will show up in time.

I am seeing very similar performance as Jeff. I think Nokta improved & refined V1.14 some, both Dt & be. The difference between Dt 0 & Dt 1 is very obvious, especially in mineralized soil. In milder soil it takes a higher setting to see the same jump in target acquisition. For me this is a pretty significant improvement. Nokta has really turned a trick with the Dt feature.

Yes, real life is the real test.
I actually have some hope that DeepTech will consider a SMF unit. Whether it gets produced depends on a lot of things, including the possibility of being sued. DeepTech listened to user suggestions for a lower frequency machine and coincidence or not, introduced the Abyss.

It sure is nice to see older coins like those in good condition. They are such classically beautiful designs.

Good video Jeff, of a common, but often unnoticed situation. What I call 2D orientation. Same for Ziggy's video. This is, on the surface, Monte Berry's nail board type set up. It is, in fact the easiest of scenarios to have success with using most any decent detector & coil. But what about what cannot be seen under the surface? The 3D or so called 2.5D target orientations. This is where detectors have to perform to be considered top unmaskers for me because that is what I hunt in the majority of the time. I have both, hybrid analog(Vista X) and full digital detectors. I really like both. They each have strengths that are just enough different to keep them in use. The game changer for me is not analog vs digital, it is Simultaneous Multi Frequency. SMF just handles my ground soooo much better. It also handles iron trash better in terms of false responses. Does it unmask better? Maybe. But it unmasks easier. I don't have to listen thru a barrage of noise. I can do it with the Vista X and my Single Frequency digitals that have open gated audio like the Anfibio, but it is demanding. SMF is much less chaotic and allows me to listen better and deeper for much longer. As far as pure depth on isolated targets, it again boils down to how well the unit handles the Ground.
I think the debate is on the wrong subject. Audio quality, as subjective as that is, is the focus for me. Any TID or screen display is always secondary. In the end, it is all between your ears, in more ways than one.
ps; what I would really like to try is a SMF Vista X. That might be the best of both worlds.

A very good video. Looks like fun. I bet there are several manufacturers looking very closely at this unit & adjusting their plans to meet some very good competition from Algo Force. I would love a unit like this for Relic hunting in bad dirt. I noticed he was using Legend BT headphones.

A very nice assortment of types & colors.

@Ridge Runnera kind heart & the wisdom that graces age in worthy, There is no less in that.
Happy Birthday if I understand you riddle correctly.🥳🎂

Could be Mica. Sounds strange. TID 5 on the Legend is normally magnetic iron. You should be able to isolate that and see what it is.

Rob, You ask a big question that does not have an A,B,C answer. Each detector has a valuable & often unique character and I wouldn’t want to be without any of them. Same for my Tarsacci, MXT and even my Anfibio Multi, AT Max & F5. I use & enjoy success with all of them.
What type of soil is your red dirt? I have only seen golden flakes in red granite gravels. It is a form of pyrite if I remember correctly. There are areas of it where I turkey hunt in Mason, Texas. What will it show on the Legend’s Mineral Graph dry & wet?
The red dirt I hunt in East Texas is iron base Maghemite. Some sites will have small Siderite hot rocks. When dry you can run a magnet through it and the magnet will come out fuzzy. Add man made iron bits and it gets real interesting.

You also seem to be able to run a very low Recovery on Be mode with no problem. It makes a big difference in depth of response. These are all observations from my red dirt mineral test bed.

Higher levels of Dt do add some garble to deeper/ weaker targets but I can get used to it. The deepest/ weakest would not sound much at all without the feature active. I have not noticed a reduction in audio otherwise. Be mode seems a little smoother but I haven’t played with it much yet.

Best of both worlds is Analog quality audio nuance + fast, smart Digital signal processing.

So there never was a production MX9?
-
The MX9 must not have been available for very long. I think I would like to have one.

I have kept all my catalogs over the years & still prefer a real catalog over just a website on any serious product.

Now that is a good hunt. Glad you had a memorable day with some very interesting finds.

It would be some trouble but if one could mix the 97% down to 5% for a “ standard” 6-7 bar FeO3 test medium, that would prove very useful for testing and be closer to real life “ bad dirt”. Any idea what a heavy Black Sand beach would be % wise?

Glad you found out about this Channel but it actually is not a new one. I have been subscribed to it for several years. I knew he also posted on a more official XP channel but this one is more interesting to me. I like his content very much.
