The Kruzer, Amphibio and Racers use round shafts and the lower carbon poles work. Overall not a huge weight saving, maybe an oz or so but they are a bit more ridged.

The Anfibio has a triangular profile shaft.

In addition to my pinpointer, I always carry a small magnet in my digging pouch to make quicker work of the small Iron bits that show up in many holes. In known bad nail sites I will add a very strong magnet with a homemade handle. I just carry it stuck to my hand digger sheath. It will pull through a good bit of loose dirt. Then I can zone in on any additional targets in the hole.

From my understanding, the coils for the MDT are as special as the detector unit itself. Maybe more so as the concept was developed based on the coil. 

Since Pinpointers became readily available I have carried one. I don't use it on every target but I would not want to be without one in the field. Great time saver and frustration preventer.

DIG5050, can you expound on the differences you have seen between the various modes & their recovery speeds?

Canvas tarps were a common item on a more prosperous farm. Linseed oiled for waterproofing.

The Z Link receiver unit has it's own volume control also. I set it to get the right Pinpointer volume and then  adjust the headphone volume. I keep the main detector volume set close to maximum.

I use the 1/4" Z Link transmitter & receiver set up with wired Killer B headphones on my Vista X. Also the Z Link Garrett AT Pinpointer. I could use the MS 3 headphones but the Higher ohm Killer Bs sound better on that detector. If you need 1/4 to 1/8 you can get a short adapter.

The Garrett Z Link system is a bit more money but it is excellent.

I would just like to have something in print. A thread on Advanced NM operation on this forum that NM actively participated in would be great.

It would be nice to understand some of the underlying function. I know it is kind of getting into the weeds and many don't care to. I would like to see NM give more in depth operational discussion. A supplemental guide beyond the basics in the owner's manual. The detectors are so capable. I want to know how to run it at it's best. Perhaps Dilek will see this and chime in.

On the Anfibio Multi (and I think Kruzer & others) there is a definite step in sensitivity between 39&40 Gain and again between 69&70 Gain. Is this a change in the Internal Threshold? In a way this would be the inverse of the way the F75 adjusts sensitivity according to Mike Hillis.  Regardless, it is a very good set up in difficult sites. Most NM users know about the difference in response speed between 89 & 90 Gain on 3DI. This is different. I had read about these steps in a forum post that quoted Alper of NM. I can't seem to find that post now that I want to re read it.

I find it intriguing that it supposedly can use the nail & Iron contamination of a site to differentiate the non ferrous. It seems to be able to see the contrast between the two and use that to advantage.

A probe is handy for sure. They are not hard to make either. I have two that stay in the Scrambler with the digging tool arsenal. Get on an old house site and find the privies & dump sites. It is a easy & positive way to confirm what my CX II Bloodhound 2 box sounds off on.

There should be more bottles there. If you make a ground probe you can feel out spots where there might be a concentration. Maybe nothing real old but still interesting & fun.

Being in a fire might give it that lump shape and change it's property to corrosion.

Nice ring but I really like the Shark tooth.

A place on the river like that will have a little of everything from years of use, including some nice surprises . One you will not like is quicksand. Be mindful of soft ground underfoot. I know from experience. Check for targets a bit down stream also.

Not a bad day at all. It will be interesting to see if on old glass or pottery shards show up in those fields after a good rain, Arrowheads too.

I purchased the F5 used with the stock 10" elliptical concentric coil. I would like to get a 10" elliptical DD to go with it and also the 5" round DD. Used would be fine. I just question a used coil off a First Texas 19 kHz unit. I know I can purchase new coils from Teknetics for the Greek series or from Nel.

As far as compatibility between  the F19/G2 @ 19kHz and the Greek Tek series @7.69kHz that seems a big jump to be optimal.

What I am trying to figure out is what 10" DD & 5"DD will work best on my new to me F5 @ 7.69kHz.
