I have noted as JP has when showing off gold a lot react jealously immediately, you just learn wisely with age not to show off gold, but that all is part of our crazy hobby.

I had this happen too, found my first decent nugget and couldn’t help but show it off. The first person I showed, you could see the seething jealousy and rage behind what seemed like a calm face.

I honestly don’t understand why? People go out and work their butts off to find the stuff yet it sends others round the bend when someone becomes successful at their hobby or livelihood. And I am by no means successful at it, at all.

Gold can be a fickle game, yet I enjoy it to no end and look forward to my next outing.

I see such as just the fruit of our labors.

    This.

Alot of people question my reasoning for running my air conditioner in my house colder than recommended. I receive a good wage and am happy to pay for it and certainly don’t go home to be uncomfortable.

I’m pretty keen to see your set up aswell, I’ve just bought a camper trailer and am in the process of getting set up myself so all ideas are welcome.

    Superglue

I’ve seen it used for cuts that probably really required sutures. Amazing stuff, and from what I understand, it was actually developed as a medical glue, but turned out to be good for nearly everything else aswell.

If you want it to harden quick and stronger than what it’s intended for, sprinkle bi-carb soda on it after the application.

Well said Steve and “So say all of us”. New releases are fun but all the finger pointing over the years has grown old for me, being torn between seeing people desperate for information and at the same time being accused of HYPE has grown extremely thin with me and made more poignant by my now being a dealer selling the products I often talk about.

I will always try my best to inform people of my perceived bias but do not mistake my passion for this subject as being hype to sell products because you will get it sorely wrong.

The only reason I hang out here is because of the effort you SteveH put into keeping this forum alive and informative, I love the hype/passion and excitement of this forum and thoroughly enjoy the camaraderie but at the end of the day after more than 20 years of being mangled by all the tall poppiests I am well over having to have my fundamentals scrutinised every time I offer an opinion!!

Good to see a defined line in the sand, to all who read what I have just written, I help develop Minelab detectors and I sell the things so take what I say with a grain of salt if your so inclined!!🥴

And this is why I’ve gone to you to buy both my machines and soon to be the third (slap me stupid for even considering going elsewhere with the first machine). It’s not because you sell them, it’s the knowledge base behind them.

It’s pretty easy to tell between the bulls**t and genuine knowledge when looking on other forums.

Glad I’ve recently found this forum and thankyou to Steve and JP and everyone else for the wisdom you have all shared on the subject.

Welcome Shep!  Sounds like you've got good tools, good grounds, and a good attitude.  Knowledge&technique may be the missing pieces but you've come to a good place for help with those.

I’m pretty lucky in that I visit JP’s shop regularly and he’s been able to answer any question I’ve had

  6. G’day from Central Queensland, Australia. I’m Rob Shepherd (mates call me Shep or Sheppo, hence the user name). I’m relatively new to the prospecting game, only picking up a detector (GPX5000) seriously for the first time in August of 2020 and since upgrading to a GPZ7000. I feel relatively privileged to be living so close to some of the richest goldfields in Queensland and absolutely love living here.

Happy to be a part of the community and look forward to seeing the posts here and the knowledge being passed around 👍🏻
