  1. Hey Ray,

In the modern day alot of public land has been hit pretty hard. Theres still gold there. No one gets it all. Personally in the last few years, I mostly aim for private places. While doing research, I found alot is on private property. And most owners have watched their land pretty well. This makes for some mostly virgin detecting areas. So I go to county assesors office and get a name of a owner on a place that I know there is gold. then I get ahold of them. I like to actually go and talk to them in person instead of the phone. Most of them I dont even know from adam. And youd be surprised that about 90 percent of them let us in. I always offer a percent of the gold but in years of doing this only one owner wanted a 80-20 split. I dont try to ruin my permissions by taking a bunch of other people in there. That is a killer to get kicked out. I mostly only go with my detecting partner anyway. After getting dozens of permissions on private places I also have a great list of owner references in case another wants to hear about their experience with us. We also have liability release forms. That we used only once. Another thing is my family came to my county in 1849 to mine gold. and never left. So we know alot of people and alot of them own gold lands. My wife says that im full of b.s. and thats how I talk our way into private places. Not sure. But if that dont work I take her to talk to the owner. Shes not hard to look at. Maybe she convinces some of them. I thought it was my good b.s

  2. If I had to say just one then I guess "s" rod. But whatever detector I use I just adapt. As long as it finds gold. Also quick note on gpx 5000 handle. I never broke one, but I can see that happening. Come on minelab. For an expensive detector why put on a dollar tree handle.and over $100 to replace, for a cheap piece of plastic and foam and a dainty wire. Makes no sense. Build a good one like nokta/makro.

  3. Update:

I just received an email from Dilek. She is sending out my test gold racer. My impatience kills me. I will test both fors plus and gold racer at the same time and see what are the advantages of both under certain situations. Hope you helped design the gold racer well steve. Im looking forward to see how it goes compared to Fors plus. Hopefully the weather cooperates. This detecting spot im detecting now will be a perfect spot to try the gold racer.

  4. Hello

Well it looked like there was a small window of opportunity to get outside today and get on some gold. Headed back to previous detecting site for some swingin. Moved down range 50 yards from last time to see what was there. Hit a good patch of small stuff that was mostly stuck in bedrock left behind by our historic miners. Only bad thing is I think they had a trap shoot there at one time. I never found so many birdshot bb's in such a small area. Only lasted a few hours then it started clouding up and started to sprinkle. It was fun while it lasted. Once again Fors plus operated great in all metal with "dd" coil. Have to not forget concentric for a try next time. Can't wait till next time. 23 pcs. For 2.5 dwt. Nothing big but the color is nice

    Good luck

I have a few videos that I will post a link for here shortly

  5. I was hoping to try out both since ive been testing the nokta detectors for a few years. All I can do is semi compare fors plus to gb2. Since I ran one for years and years. Personally I think fors plus can find tiny gold very well. So small usually you find that kind of stuff gold panning. I think gb2 did just as well and hit just a little harder on tiny gold. But but. I had troubles with it in hot ground. In about 80 percent of the places I detect. Had to lean it down alot. Just too strong for some places. I assume gold racer might struggle in same patches. But I only have all you to report on this. Meanwhile fors plus does good for me. Found more with it today. As soon as I get videos uploaded to youtube. I will report back with todays booty, good luck

  6. hello Relic,

to be honest, with the new plus i haven't really hit a bad iron infested patch yet with the plus model. I haven't been out a whole lot since I received the plus. the weather has been extremly bad. The places that i had success with the plus so far, have only had light to medium iron patches . but i have found gold with it under iron signals a couple times due to the fast target accusition. when the weather is better I do plan to take it to a place that has a tin can pile that has gold mixed in. I found gold in that tin can patch with orginal Fors gold and iron masking. I think steve found a nice specimen with orginal Fors gold in a iron patch. But with the short time that Ive been out with new plus with new coils. I feel that it will do very well in the iron patches. time will tell. as soon as i get out again and hit an  infested iron patch, i will let you know the result.

I worked extra day last week, so that I could take tomarrow off, so i can get back out. we are suppose to have a slight break with the weather. I hope the weather cooperates.

    take care

  7. Like lipca said just type in their search box at cdnc what you are looking for. For instance to narrow things down to big gold finds for your area. Type calaveras lump or nugget or rich diggings. Most big finds back then in those papers had those terms for the big ones. You can use the word gold too, but youll get alot of results to look thru. I use that word last. Also if down there had pocket gold type calaveras rich pocket. And you should find some good pocket finds in the thousands of dollars. Usually 1880 and up. When pockets became famous. Good luck enjoy the Rain. Lol
