  1. A lot comes down to the operator too & conditions on the day. Some days the stars, moon & the universe all come into line. That doesn't happen very often & you just need to be in the right place at the right time. The universe works in mysterious ways & sometimes just for a select few. That may explain why a few seem to get quite a bit more gold than others.

Also, I can't help but smile at all the discussion of tenths or hundredths of a gram flakes of gold. Not sure it really matters much whether the scale measures one or two decimal's, but again, just an opinion.

Have to agree with that flakmagnet. I can't believe how people can make such an issue of scales that don't measure down to 100th's of a gram & how inaccurate they are. What's the world coming to? It is like the end goal here is who can find the smallest gold. WTF. That is pretty sad.

Say what?!?!?  You had an argument with the Steve that owns this website?  I can't imagine what the problem would be, unless he thinks...

Well I will just let it go for now because I don't really know what the argument was about. I just hope you can get to feeling better soon and I suppose Steve didn't tell you to quit telling the story of what happened or else you would have told us readers "good bye".

Like I have told you before I can keep a secret. PM me anytime you want to and you better because I want to know what ended up happening in 2002 and especially about Jacob. Remember you promised a picture of him.

    God bless you too man.

Hi Bedrocker. I guess Ghost Miner is referring to the line of discussion/argument.  On the Freddy Dodge Gold Prospecting Show thread on page 5.

Every day use tells me a lot of data and my deepest nuggets since having my 6000 have been with the 12x7 except for two nuggets. Both of these were with the 11" and 17" Minelab coils.

I am confused at this statement of yours as you say your deepest nuggets since having the 6000 have been with the 12 x 7 & then in the same breath you say, except for two, & they were both found with the Minelab coils. So the 12 x 7 hasn't found your deepest nuggets with the 6000. Sort of contradicting yourself. The 12 x 7 might have found you more deeper nuggets but by your statement, not the deepest.

  5. Seems Nemo have had an issue with the regulator as I enquired into getting one from an Aussie supplier & they informed there was an issue with the hose line & should have availability in a month or two & would get back to me. Well that never happened & I have since got an Air Buddy which is Aussie made that turned up last week. https://www.airbuddy.com/

Northeast, do you have a Nemo Blu3? I also see that Levi from Tassie Boys Prospecting had issues with his Nemo after hiking it in to a very remote creek. That would have torn his undies.

I have a spot in a creek where is found a 35g nugget on my first visit. There is no written history of gold specifically in this creek but the surrounding area is gold bearing. Have never managed to find anything else there...

That is very intriguing. I have a mate on the west coast, New Zealand, who went in to an area via helicopter that had no gold history at all. South of Hokitika but north of Haast. He was sworn to secrecy & so couldn't tell me the location.

He had got talking to a guy who said his father was in there years ago deer shooting & found a large gold nugget just sitting in a creek he crossed. He had no interest in gold but picked it up as a keep sake. This guys father had a couple of huts in the bush he stayed in on longer hunting forays. This guy was keen to try & find his fathers huts. I think his father had passed away & it was out of interest to him to find his fathers huts. He had a vague idea of the catchments they were in. This guy had no interest in gold either. My mate found the story of the gold nugget hard to believe as the area of its finding wasn't a known gold area. This guy then produced the nugget to my mate. So he was then quite curious on seeing it. The two decided to helicopter in for a week. My mate to go gold detecting & this guy to find his fathers huts, or remains of.

Long story short. They took a few days to find the right catchment as they had got dropped off in the wrong one. This guy found one of the huts & my mate then wandered on down the creek & found a bit of gold that he described as a LARGE flake of over one ounce. He was using a Gold Bug Pro. He found other large bits of gold & despite doing heaps of panning & sampling he could find no small flood type gold. I found that very strange, as did he.

Your yarn reminded me of that.

Most e-bikes now come with throttles that can be used separate from or in conjunction with pedal assist and they are actually pretty responsive/powerful, with no pedaling required even up fairly steep hills.

Using the throttle only will chew through the battery at a rapid pace. Especially going up hills. Depends how far you have to travel though. The bonus is you don't need the motor going back down. Just have to take it easy on your braking fingers.

  8. I seem to recall an ex member on here, JW, got into an E bike for access to prospecting locations & did a few posts on it. Maybe do a search.  He & his mate Phrunt did a few missions on them. Phrunt I think was using JW's wives bike from memory & he may be able to make a comment.

I think you will still need a good amount of fitness as an e bike you still have to pedal, the motor just assists & makes it a bit easier. Depends on the steepness of the terrain you will be tackling. If in fairly flattish dessert shouldn't be a problem, but then why would you not just use a quad or motor bike?

  9. Ask JP. Jonathan Porter. Queensland is his back yard. He may see this & chime in, but don't hold your breath as I have noticed he hasn't been on here in ages. You could try message him directly. He is a Minelab tester, dealer/agent.

You would most likely be better off with a pulse induction detector as has already been mentioned due to hot ground that the cheaper vlf's dont like. Because they are cheaper doesn't necessarily mean they are no good.  Just given a hard time by mineralised ground. My vote for a "cheap" but usually very good  vlf in mild type ground would be the gold monster & the Nox 800. If you are also keen on jewellery & relic hunting then the nox 800.

For a PI that might be within your budget a 2nd hand GPX 4500 or 5000.

    Good luck.
