Thanks gentlemen.-----I am now considering the Manticore (with extra M8 coil)---especially with Minelabs discounted price on the detector.-----However--I don't understand their "reasoning" for increasing price on it in Jan. & then doing a steep discount on it in April.----Buyers shouldn't complain about that though. 🙂

Which of these makes the best gold (nugget) hunter----the Equinox 900 with Coiltek 5X10" & Minelab 6" coils---or the XP ORX with the 5X10 h.f. coil?

A gold PI is typically going to be designed to hit the tiniest bits possible and that can also mean tiny ferrous bits. A relic PI might be more tuned to hit bullet size targets at max depth while being less sensitive to every tiny bit of ferrous trash. In theory though you can do both in one detector so interesting to see why they feel the need for two models.

It could be nothing more than what coil the machine comes with.

We have no idea what the detector really looks like but let's go with the fuzzy profile as being real. Standard configuration with collapsing three piece rod, fairly large underarm battery. Big question - it it submersible? Beach hunters will be disappointed once again if the answer is no.

Fuzzy profile looks like a CTX or 6000.:)

It may not seem like a big improvement at first since you can just push the original plug on without screwing down the nut, but this one actually goes on a lot easier. When you pop it on, the cord will always be facing downward, which eliminates the issue of having to rotate the plug until it finds it's seat. Got mine from Serious Detecting for about 15 bucks. Money well spent IMHO. Sometimes its the little things that make life easier.

The 6" coil I still think has the edge on the very tiniest pieces of gold, we are talking 0.00X of a gram stuff, aside from that the Manticore has the most change of punching deeper getting the bigger bits.

Why in the world didn't Nokta high light those buttons in the first place (like other companies do).

Jeff-----You mentioned that you used & did well with the Deus 2 with 11X13" coil in Sept. & Oct. 2023.------Do you feel that the Manticore with the 11" coil did better or the same as the D2 with 11X13" coil in this hunt situation?-----Putting it another way---do you feel you could have found these same targets with the Deus 2 with 11" or 11X13" coils?-------Thanks-------Del
