    Hi all!

Yep, I COULD make something like this, but the gentleman who used to make them is still around; he goes by the screen name "khouse" on Dankowski's forum.  I saw a recent post from him, where he mentioned possibly starting to make them again, so I will of course refrain, and respect his "intellectual property."

Perhaps I can chat with him, and see what his intent is...

Meanwhile, it has been on the drawing board to begin producing a carbon-fiber upper "S-shaft" for Garrett machines for awhile now, though there are some logistics -- that involve a sizeable up-front investment -- that have prevented me from doing so thus far.  That's why I am only doing the lower two shaft sections for the Garrett machines, for now.  However, if/when I do begin offering the upper shaft as well, I will certainly be extending the length of it (and would then offer the counterweight system that I've used with the Equinox shafts, as well...)

I'm making them again since there has been renewed interest.  See my other post.......  I sold a lot of them when the Ace Series was king.  Then sales died off through better, lighter and cheaper competition.  Now it seems the APEX has the same issues.....

  2. Steve,  That is me.. LOL.  I've sold over 1400 of them but the last few years sales dropped from like 20 a month to 12 a year.  I don't make any money unless I make 25 at a time.  However I have had a lot of interest in the GIZMO recently.  So I will be placing 25 on ebay in a day or so.  Or just contact me directly  mowerdog@gmail.com

  3. I for one feel that selling a detector through big box stores cheapens the effect of a nice machine.  Just a stigma in my mind........Lol..... BTW - White's last chance was the MXsport.  We were all waiting for the lightweight, multi frequency waterproof machine.  Big let down at least for me.  I went through three of them with Whites then telling me I didn't know how to use it.....  I'm not a Whites dealer anymore..

Excellent video, khouse.  Really, really good.

Main problem I see with that, in reality (out on a hunt in a trashy iron site) though, is -- how do you know how high to set the disc?  Sure, setting the iron reject at 32 worked in that "controlled" experiment, with non-rusty, non-bent, same-sized nails.  But in real-world scenario, in dense iron, that 32 iron reject would leave me digging TONS of nails, I am guessing.  (And I'm "guessing," because I run an SE Pro, not an E-Trac, so I am not sure exactly how the FE numbers on nails translate over to an Explorer...I usually run my Explorer at Iron Mask 22, but I am guessing that 32 on the E-Trac would be something more like 26 or 28 on the SE Pro...

True.  But once you dig a handful of nails you would use those to adjust your discrimination to you particular site.  I do indeed dig a lot of nails even setting it at 28.  But I don't dig as many as 32 depending on the site.  Basically all you're doing is discriminating out the nails on your site.

  5. I think the game changer here is the price.  When I first saw it and read the specs and saw a video or two I figured the price was going to be at least $1500.  This machine is in the same ball park as the Atmax and MXsport. I was ready to sell my Atpro to get a Max.  But that just changed. If the EQ gives me solid ID's at depth then the etrac will be gone too.  Were we not wanting the new Atmax and MXsport to have selectable frequencies?  I was and it didn't happen.  Now we have a company that did it for a reasonable price....  It's got to be a winner!
