  1. I'm guessing the middle of March even though they said February.  It seems they may be making some last minute tweaks from some suggestions that have been brought up?  It's just a guess though.  I really think the 4x6 coil should be in the line up as well. Maybe a bundle pack with any accessory coil of choice?  Also throw in that new digger to sweeten the pot!  I maybe asking too much? LOL.  Although not a deal breaker I would like to see the ability to set the iron disc one number at a time and not in blocks. But for the price what can we really expect?  I expect a machine that will work well in just about every environment.

  2. After using 4- ATpro's off and on over the years I felt it could have used some features that some of my other machines had. I want a larger display, tone options and a backlight. I really thought Garrett would have ditched the standard mode and used that part to add more options. But they haven't. I've been waiting for somebody to give me more of what I wanted. Heck I was seriously looking at the Deteknix Quest. Now after some videos and the about to be released MXS I'm not interested in the Quest. The MXS has everything I wanted in an ATpro and tons more. Do I expect it to hit deep silver better than my Etrac or pluck Gold out of the Ocean? Heck no. I just hope it does most everything well. From what I've seen it will. On the other hand if the MXS cost $2900 then yes, It better be super at everything.

  3. I guess it's possible the new guy really didn't know the MXT as well as the MXS? What I learned is your not going to duplicate a mostly analog response when your running a digital version. It's the future though.  Our soft sweet target responses are being replaced by a harsher digital response.  But by going full digital more features can be packed into a smaller package at a lessor cost.  Will the MXS dethrone the Atpro?  From what I've seen already I'm sure it will.

  4.       For me the MXS is a machine that gives me choices.  Unlike the MXT it has notch disc which I have grown to like.  I also like the fact that it's waterproof for the obvious reason but for other reasons such as rain and dust proofing.  Compared to the ATpro it has a ton more features.  I always wished the Garrett  had a larger screen, tone options and backlight.  The MXS has all that and more. All the MXS has to do is do everything well.  That's it.

Some people don't want to carry a Swiss Army knife. They may just carry a big single blade knife.  But what if they need some tweezers or a Phillips screwdriver?  They will be the first to ask to use your multi tool in your pocket!

No detector can do it all.  But if your going to pick just one then pick one that can do most everything well. That has been the job of the ATpro.  But that looks like it's going to change now to the MXS. Some of us will still have our deep silver machines. Our Gold nugget machines.  Our relic machines.  But wouldn't it be nice to also have the Swiss Army detector too?

  5. I can only repeat what I was told by the guy who sold it to me, his name was Greg and he was a longtime buddy of Jimmy Sierra and helped with input of the design. he said they borrowed circuitry and programing aspects from the MXT, MX5 (M6? I'm not sure) and GMT and although it has very few features the ones that it has are optimized for mineralized conditions.  Turn it on and go, the ground balance is super fast also and can be locked to prevent tracking out a target with a switch flip, this feature also lets you use the detector as a broad large target deep searching detector by ground balancing with the pinpoint mode and then locking the GB, hits deep water pipes really well this way.

The M6 is the MXT's little brother that has a 1 and 7 tone mode with track lock and salt mode.  The SST is a M6 locked in the 7 tone mode with an Eclipse coil on it. It's a M6 without the single tone feature and huge SST letters stuck to the side. The rest is smoke and mirrors. However the M6 is probably Whites best kept coin and jewelry secret.  The MXS should out pace the M6.

  6. In all the years I've used and sold Whites - They have never been so aggressive with a detector launch. They are doing it in a fun way without bashing to boot. In the past they would have never put a competitors photo up against theirs. Whites must be super confident in the MXS like no other machine. This is a good sign of the performance they must know it has over the competition!

Guys, you all need to remember one thing.  This is NOT a true prospecting machine.  Just like the MXT is not.  It is a multi purpose machine, designed for being able to do a little of everything.  The coin mode may end up being the best feature.  The prospecting mode is good, but it is not dialed in to be pure nugget hunting machine.

This, like the MXT, was designed to be the "one fits all" detector for the guy who wants to try detecting for everything.  They took the best features of a top of the line coin machine and an excellent nugget machine and combined those into one.  One machine for the guy on a limited budget who can't afford to get two or three machines to cover all the bases well.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was ONE machine that operated like a GMT, a V3I, a TDI, and a 2300, all in one package?  Not going to happen.

    Exactly!

If the $749  MXS works well then it will be a huge hit. No different than a 22cal over a 20 ga gun. It will cover most all kinds of hunting and do very well. But if your wanting to take down an Elk or high flying Goose then it's probably not the right choice.

  8.      Hello! I'm new to this forum and want to "pick" your brains.... First off I've never done any nugget hunting.  I'm hoping to get my Whites MXSports in soon.

I'm going to test the prospecting mode the best I can with some pickers. The problem is that I don't have any nuggets!  So you experts tell me what type and size of nuggets would be a reasonable test for the MXS?  I know it won't hit tiny ones and will easily hit large ones.

I just want to purchase maybe 3 nuggets for testing.  I will be using the stock 10 inch coil right now. Maybe a smaller one when available? Can you help?  Or maybe even sell me what I need? Thanks,

         Kenny
