  1. I have some fittings in hand for a mock up.  I have yet to buy the pump as I'm undecided on how to tote the battery around?  I first though a light weight li-ion battery in a back pack?  But the cost is too high.  I then thought a sealed lead lawn mower battery?  Those are about 24 to 30 amp/hour and 25 pounds. I think too heavy for a backpack?  So now I think I'll float the battery and use that to suspend and support the collection box?  Also if I float a battery it might as well be a larger marine battery that will run the machine a long time? So now my thoughts are on the power supply.....  I don't want to depend on a Kayak or Boat to bear the weight of the battery either.  I'm open to suggestions...............................................................................Oh the pump is 12 volts and rated at 15 amps.

  2. Let's talk about hose, and nozzle size?  I would think there must be a good ratio of nozzle inlet to pipe size to reduce clogs?  My target size is bullets.  Here is a .69 and a smashed canister ball.  These would be about the biggest lead pieces I'll suck.  Now it's got me thinking about coins!!  Yikes! Should I make the nozzle big enough for a Half?  I haven't found a half in the water though...... I first though this was going to be a simple project - now it's grown bigger than expected!

  3. I would have the wand in sections so I can add or remove enough to keep it all under water.  The shallow bullets can be grabed by hand mostly except for the ones stuck deep in a crack.  I'm after bullets too deep for most detectorists.  I just wonder if it will have enough power to bring a .69 of from the depths?  I was thinking about using a 1-1/4 wand with the end contoured inward to 1 inch.  Is that enough difference in size as not to plug often with rocks?  Should I bump to a 1-1/2 inch wand with a 1 or 1-1/4 inch entrance?  Do you think it would be better to run one 4000 gph pump or have dual 2000 gph pumps feeding the jet from opposing sides?

  4. I see your suction jet is mounted at the upper end of your rig.  That is what I was wanting to do with my electric machine.  I know if I went with a gas dredge my issues would be solved but want a quiet running machine. I would entertain buying belt drive pump and slapping a 12 volt permanent magnet motor on it.  But I haven't seen any "dredge type" stand alone pumps?  Have you?
