Yes the small coil would be good in and around rocky edges in creeks and gullies and in shallow type ground, depth is about 3"to 4" inches on tiny stuff, like point something of a gram size.  And about 12" to 13" on larger multi gram piece (10g), seems to be about what it can do.

I doubt it is water proof, light shower of rain and dew yes, but I would not be dipping in puddles, or in a creek with water in it.

    cheers dave

Well shoot looks like i gotta keep the sdc for my creek detecting.  I seem to get better depth inch or two, smaller coil 8", and waterproof.  Thanks for all the info!  Look forward to the big coils too!

Although i might just completly switch over to the nox for the creeks, but have had such good luck with the sdc. Hard decisions! Lol

The 10"x9" is going well, but I don't think there will ever be an 8", there has to be x amount of room physically to fit stuff into.

    cheers dave

Thats what i kind of figured but was hopefull none the less.  Looking forward to the 10x9 being available!  I really would like to see how that works for MDing up the gut of the small creeks and gulches I detect.  Would they be waterproof?  What kind of depth are you getting?  Debating on keeping my SDC or not.

Ha!  Thanks for the link.  After I posted, I did some more searching, and finally ran across that.

Thanks for the heads up!  You know what they say about "loose lips!"  Mine have been pretty loose...but that's OK!  I wouldn't have it any other way.  I am a detectorist, with a little shaft-building business; not a true "businessman."  If I have to err in one direction or the other, I'd rather lose out on some sales, than turn into some cut-throat salesman with all my focus on bottom line, at the end of the quarter...  ?

I'm sticking with made in the USA by steveg!  You put all the work in and know what worked the best.  This guy might use cheap parts or didn't test like you.  Plus he is out of country.

I was just showing ya for your own info.

  4. Hello all!

One thing that I have not seen or heard since the Nox has been out is what people are finding for Spanish treasure and relics with the Equinox out on the FL Treasure Coast.  Of course ever since the Nox has been out there has not really been any storms to get some good beach erosion going on.  Out of curiosity, what settings and mode are folks using for the relic/treasure hunt on the treasure coast beaches, including the iron settings.  Can't wait to hear the answers!  I plan on being down there for a couple weeks in Feb and if the weather gives some good erosion I'm gonna be out there with the 15' coil swinging away!

But even if the weather doesn't "cooperate" I'll still be looking for that modern bling in the Beach modes.  I think I have to be the only person that goes on a FL vacation that hopes for a NorEaster

  5. There is a guy on treasurenet called freeloader that will custom make you a pouch.  They are by far the best and very highy quality.  I think he might have been or made bags for military purposes, again super high quality canvas pouche, custom to how you want, at a great price you can't beat.  He is in the marketplace section.

  6. Buy it and find out

i bought it beacuse the first book taught me some things and I'm sure the 2nd will too.  Plus they are the only books out there right now on the Nox.  I replaced my CTX with the Nox and almost instanly missed the CTX's TID, after reading Clives book not so much anymore.  Makes me wonder why the Youtubers I watch dont impliment his techniques. I guess most like clad.  Cheapest on eBay right now 18.95 with free shipping.

If they can ever squeeze all that GPZ wire into a super D the size of the Sadie 8x6 coil, the SDC would likely be replaced, at least for those users with a GPZ.  10x9 is getting there, but will still need to be smaller.   A 10x9 is not going to get into that many more places than the std 14" coil.  It is likely the small coil will need to go more elliptical to be of use.  My guess is that Minelab does not want to take business away from the SDC and Gold Monster and is why they have not jumped on the smaller coils.  But that is just speculation on my part.

Andyy, I would love to see this too however I have been told (not by Minelab) that it would be really really hard to do.  One of the reasons being that there is over a mile of copper wire in these coils.  The smaller coil just would not have the space.

But man if the could........Good bye SDC for me LOL
