  1. I took my EQ to an old high school that I've been hunting for the last few years to see what the Nox could do. I started off in park 1 and the very first target was a solid 13 within 3 minutes, turned out to be a 1912 V-nickle at close to 5", I did my happy dance and knew this was going to be a fun machine. First impressions, of course, light, very fast and the responses left no doubt when you hit a good target. I'm not 100% sold on the sound of the wireless head phones, I think I'll end up using my Killer B's when I find the adapter for the WM08  I'll say this, nickles lock on 13 solid. I ended up with a double nickle trifecta, first time for me. 2 V-nickles, 2 buffs and 2 Jefferson's came out within the first  hour.  I found that customizing is very easy on fly if you can remember what the advanced settings do. I love that I can adjust the tones and the breaks much like my CTX and it's very easy to do so. Overall, I feel like it was worth all the waiting and can't wait to get a better grasp of what this machine can really do after a few more outings.  I did dig a 9" wheat, the numbers bounced, but, I did get a repeatable high tone, very impressive!!

I'm somewhat handicapped when it comes to relating what I'm thinking and being able to articulate it. If you have a question, fire away.

Can you show us in a video or step by step photo instruction how to open and change the battery on the Equinox, would be very interesting !

If you can unscrew 5 allen head screws and use a pair of needle nose pliers, you got it whipped :) The whole process can be done before a pot of coffee brews, including the installation process.

On Ebay, you can find stereo to mono adapter plugs. I have been in bands all my life, and have a home music studio. I have many such plugs.

The only problem with most of them, the shoulder is too large to properly seat the plug due to the type of jack Minelab is using. I have 4 on hand, none will fit inside the waterproof set up. So, it's going to take just the right type to work, same thing goes goes for the WM08. The bottom plug fits inside the jack, unfortunately it's a stereo and will not cut the sound to the speaker. works  fine on the WM08

  4. I found out the EQ has the same problem as the CTX when it comes to the headphone jack. If you plug a stereo cord into the Equinox, it will not kill the sound coming out of the machine. I used the cord that came with the headphones and I had bought a 1/8" to 1/4" cord to run my own headphones. Well, I'm here to tell you it looks like it needs to be a mono plug, damn it!!!  The WM08 uses a stereo plug, but not the EQ itself.

Well, as several others have been posted, having been fortunate to be receiving an Equinox this week, I got a totally surprise, unexpected text from my dealer today with a tracking number attached!  I spoke with him a few days ago, and was under the impression that he had "missed out" on the first batch of machines, being the small dealer that he is.

Guess not!  I was #2 on his list, and he got two!  I was expecting it would be several more weeks, before I might see mine!  I guess it's time for me to find a way to shift gears, shift the schedule around, load-shed a few things, and get ready to do some Equinox testing!!!

    LOL!

I just got a text from John, I'm #3 on the list. I should get mine next go round. Have fun and we all look forward to hearing what you think.

Interesting, Dan.  I've heard that about the 6000 Di Pro before.  Would be a real neat thing to try, in a test garden.  Iffy, deep signal, a few FAST "Minelab wiggles" instead of slow ones, might give you a little extra clue...

I'll be interested to learn these, and other little nances...

    Steve

Personally, I think Equinox is going to fun to use and learn at the same time. It'll take some time to unlock it's real potential. I've been swinging the CTX for a year now, and honestly, I'm just now feeling in sync with it.  If guys start bitching about how lousy the machine is, I'm taking it with a grain of salt. No way your going to learn what this machine can or can't do in a week or two. But, get ready, if you thought the complaining was bad before, it's only about to begin lol!!

Mike, I had that very same thought.  Will be interested to see if that little "trick" might carry over to in-ground targets...

    Steve

The old Whites were that way, 6000 Di Pro, I'd get a hit and the faster I swung, sometimes the signal would improve. That's a sweet looking machine.

Consider looking for a small dealer who doesn't have a large internet presence.  The big name dealers will be flooded with orders for some time.  The lesser known, non-internet dealers are receiving product and they have shorter waiting lists.

I used a smaller dealer, he didn't get any this go round, I'm 15 or so on his list, it's going to be a long wait.

OK Dan, is it really for him or you?  Great to see the 1st video.  When skeptics start picking on your video, tell them to buy one and do their own.  Nice to see someone taking the to share a video of the detector we are all waiting for.

BTW.  What is a KG for us Westerners.

Hey Gerry, I went back and noted in the post, I came across this on FB.  A KG is a type of large cent, King George, that I do know :)

it's a metal detector, not a life saving device. i am surprised at the crying in here.

Lol.....crying here? You must not have visited a couple of the other forums. This is probably one of the most civil and sane minded forums on the internet right now ?
