  1. I'm wondering if the big coil has any real world depth advantage over the 11" for deep coin hunting.  I just bought a new CTX that came with the big coil and need to  know if it's worth keeping and using for getting any extra depth on coin sized target. My soil is very mild so mineralization issues shouldn't be a problem using 13x17. If it's only advantage is coverage, then I'll probably sell it.  Thanks in advance.

I have tried since yesterday to connect to the link. No success yet. Yesterday, I tried with the email and followed directions that were sent, unsuccessful. I went to the old XP Deus 2 updater, and as someone stated before, not on the drop-down menu. I have gone to the XP Deus 2 website and no new user info page there that I can find. Tried to go to the forum from there and just received the error page saying too much time used downloading. Is the page working now? With the terrible internet service that we have, could this be the problem? Thanks.

I was just on the XP  website and reinstalled the V.1 on my remote and WS6 10 minutes ago with no issues. On the XP website, click the information header at the top right side of the page, you'll see a popup that says   Product Information  "Updates" will be the first item listed.  I had to use Chrome instead of Mozilla Firefox as my browser.

Dunno if you resolved it but the problem is you have the MS6 in master mode.  Turn on the remote first with WS6 off, put remote in pairing searching for Headphones, then do a long press of the WS6 power ("minus") until the remote sees the WS6 and pairs with it, which puts it in slave mode

Thank you Chase, I was wondering if that's what I had done. I'll straighten it out when I get off work.

  4. I just received my new carbon fiber shaft assembly today from Steve's Detector Rods. You talk about a fine piece of equipment with some excellent workmanship. I'm super impressed and very pleased with my investment. I look forward to getting it out in the field and not having to worry about my $1,600 detector falling over in the dirt and mud :-) Big shout out to Steve for his excellent customer service and his craftsmanship. You can tell a lot of thought went into this beauty.

I see what you're saying regarding the ml-105s being compatible with the manticore and 900.

However John wants to use the ml-85's with the manticore and minelabs site says the ml-85s are only compatible with the 700 & 900.

It only makes sense if the 105s are compatible with the 900 using the same wireless technology then the reverse should be true as well. I sold both my 900 and my Manticore so I'm unable to do the test in person. Personally, I believe it will work until somebody with both sets of headphones can verify it one way or the other.

Anyone know if the ML-85 will work on the Manticore? I’m getting bad wind noise from ML-105. Thanks John

Hey John I'm just curious, do you own both machines? I had the same problem with the ML105's, the wind noise was absolutely terrible. I ended up buying a Garrett Z-LYNK and a Quest Wire-Free Mate. If you have a set of wired headphones, you can plug them into the receiver. You can pretty much forget about trying to pair and connect any other Bluetooth device to your Manticore right now.

    Dan are you sure?

This is whats on Minelabs site: Minelab ML-85 headphones use wireless technology to deliver fast, higher quality audio than standard Bluetooth. This results in more precise and faster detection responses. They are compatible for use with EQUINOX 700 and 900 detectors

    https://www.minelab.com/usa/accessories/ml-85

Go to the ML105 spec sheet. I copied and pasted it straight off the Minelab website, so yes, I'm sure that's what it said.

  8. You should be able to pair your ML85's to the Manticore. The ML105's will pair with the 900 according to Minelab....."Minelab ML-105 headphones with premium carry case use wireless technology to deliver fast, higher quality audio than standard Bluetooth. This results in more precise and faster detection responses. They are compatible for use with MANTICORE and EQUINOX 900 detectors."

  9. I did, they ship the Manticores from a warehouse not the store.  A Cabela rep told me nothing is shipped from the stores. There are dozen of people on the Facebook Manticore pages and other forums that got theirs from Cabela's.  If you have a rewards account and on the right day, they offer 10% off all purchases and will ship Fed-Ex 2 day express for free. The biggest minus is they charge sales tax. If I was a Minelab dealer,  I would be pissed, also saw a few guys posting they got one from  dealers selling thru Amazon.

  10. "It seems to be constructed for male/long-armed people, which I am not. When I have the arm cuff all the way down to make it comfortable to swing the top of the shaft kinda bumps my elbow. My buddies say it's because I swing like a girl. Whatever. 😅  The screws holding the pod on there aren't regular screws-they look like they need one of those tiny little allen wrench things you get for assembling boxed furniture. I think when I find one that will work and move the pod up on the shaft a couple inches, then adjust the lower cam-locks accordingly it will "fit" me better. 1st photo.  If anybody has a clue what I need for this please let me know."

    Thank you for the review.

In regards to adjusting the control pod, it can't be moved easily. The bottom part of the pod is attached to the shaft, I would assume, epoxy. I suppose you could try to soften the glue with a hair drier and reposition it. If you don't re-glue it, it may not stay in place. The Nox's had a pin in the pod that went into a hole in the shaft to stabilize it. It may be worth the trouble to make it more comfortable for you to swing.  I measured the allen wrench I used to dismantle the pod, it's 3mm.

Makes my head spin 🤪one minute ive decided the Manticore is the one to go for then reading comments from  people that have them I'm not convinced at all 🙂.  No rave reviews unless you are a beach hunter(I'm not)then an easy choice I think. The 900 seems to be holding its own very well indeed. Decisions decisions my 800 has served me very very well.

After 40+ hours with the Manticore, the wow factor just isn't there like it was for Equinox 800. I don't salt water hunt, just freshwater. I've only used it at the same swimming hole, so maybe it'll shine at another location.

    - "Bluetooth Low Energy" and "Bluetooth Low Energy Audio" is the different technology.

    - any Bluetooth versions can be connected to each other

    - if we can't connect any other Bluetooth device (not ML) to 700/900/Manticore, this means that the company has applied some kind of protection or authentication

Has anyone tried connecting ML85/105 headphones to a smartphone?

I have tried connecting both of the headphones to my smartphone. My phone will detect both pairs, but they will not connect. It could be that my phone is too old, it's about 2 years old.

    LOL -- I understand!

Meanwhile, UPS seems to have decided -- despite my package being on the truck and "out for delivery" today -- not to deliver it.  Sometimes, it gets late in the day, and our UPS driver just decides they are "done for the day," and today was one of those days.  And now tracking shows "delivery attempted" (a complete fabrication), with delivery now re-secheduled for the next business day.

So, we'll see if the driver decides to show up on Monday.

    Steve

That's a bummer Steve and I know how that feels. I live out in the boonies and we get that from time to time.

I don't want to add injury to insult, but, Monday is a federal holiday sooooo...probably Tuesday.
