Vez...... are you saying the WM is more real time than the bluetooth? I didnt find a lot of delay in the bluetooth...... ive not used the WM and its a device ill likely never use. Im wired up for water or beach so im good.
-
You can also use the Bluetooth. ... no need for the WM08.
-
Your are talking about the depth i assume because me and a few guys have several hour on our machines with it underwater.
-
Chase........ i dont know about the WM08....... but i can say you can also use wired headphones WITH bluetooth. If thats the same with the WM08...... you could go wired and have 4 other guests..... for a total of 5 on one machine. Now...... im thinking is it also possible to use a headphone SPLITTER and have 2 pairs of phones coming off the same WM08? There ........ you have a whole class lol.
-
Sometimes Lith batteries do that...... but ive only noticed that when using a smart charger. What happens the charge gets to low for the smart charger to recognize the battery so it doesnt come on. Is the battery showing charged? Sorry man....... hate having detector issues.
-
I tested a good many gold rings as well..... some really came in totally different than i would have thought... especially the larger one. The machine seems to be like to put white gold around the nickel range..... so it like the nickel content.... the other thing seems to be the SIZE. Size seems to play into it a good bit.
-
Some one already asked coiltec if they were go to do any coils... not in their plans. To me ... this machine would be the dream machine for coils. Look at the amount being bought.... and there is a lot of various ones that could be done.Ive used a couples of closed coils.... they were heavy out of the waterand floated in the water as well as u had trouble with coil flip. But love the solid bottom any way.
-
Chase ....... both does it. has to do with the hole i believe that the lower nipple must fit into. The picture is of an after market...... but ive tested with the ML as well. Doesnt seem to be a problem now...... but over time ill watch it and check.
Another thing..... those female inserts.... be very careful when tightening those bolts..... dont use a 19V drill .... just ease um tight.
-
Ive got quite a few hours now in the water...... so i checked the jack i made and undid a screw on the handle to check it as well. The water you see dripping isnt all of it..... seems water does get into the lower handle area..... note that sand does as well. Im hoping over the long hall it doesnt become a problem since those parts appear to be brass and brass does bleed. Got my fingers crossed they are right and there is no way for that water to get to the batteries. Think about that thou if you change your own batteries.

NCtoad..... one way to fix that is REMOVE the one button ML clip .... drill another hole and put a double button in. That would stop the lower shaft movement and make it easier on the lock to hold it in place. Anderson uses a double button with adjustment holes...... and a screw type lock.
-
No matter how light you make it ..... if you extend the shaft the coil is what the coil is on ANY machine. Even those like the CZ.... or Xcal that you CAN hip mount and just use the coil and shaft are nose heavy. On the beach........ i want the shaft out there .... not right in front of my feet. In the water....... anyone thats used the EQ in the water will have to admit ....... that nose weight and smaller shaft makes it a pleasure to hunt with over other machines. Thats a pretty minor complaint.
-
Be aware also....... he does have young ears...... let him adjust the volume. Ive got really good headphones...... mine are loud to me even. I had to turn mine down considerably for the grand son....... even thou he plays video games.... that bother my ears lol.
-
My grouping is pretty similar to yours. Im getting a lot of those TINY high conductors on the wet sand..... people miss or ignore. Im also surprised im getting more 18K than normal. That could be a good thing..... right there with smaller gold. MOST of my finds thou have been larger 5 grams and above. Im sure conditions plays a good part....... ill be watching my 18K numbers this year. That could well be a plus for the Nox.
-
Steve u may get a look at the 15 way before me. It could be a interesting. ... but this is a very sensitive machine....how much will I have to reduce sensitivity to make it work in or near the water? Then.... how much sensitivity will it loose to gold? I know what my gut tells me..... but then this is ML.
-
I was saying that too Chase..... ive spend an ungodly amount on money on ML machines... they could have cut us some slack on those phones. Right now .... it seems to be just having the overseas guys make some VERY VERY overpriced jacks, cables, and phones.
Heres a good example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/5-pieces-WATERPROOF-HEADPHONE-FOR-USE-WITH-A-Mi-EQUINOX-600-800-METALDETECTOR/273166040590?hash=item3f99f6fe0e:g:RRoAAOSwb9Baxb-K

Awwww ..... but that sand doesnt all go out..... if you arent breaking it down each time sand can accually pack in the lower shaft. I highly recommend everyone drill about a 1/2 hole. Sorry .... but yes water and sand goes it..... then out.
have you noticed any sensitivity if you DONT clean each time? That cover is a little more that hard to get off lol. The cover does seem to be made well. I was the crazy guy who had mentions i was thinking about CUTTING off those front and middle cross overs...... sand was a concern....... but sand there shouldnt be picked up by the coil moving with it. Back not to long ago we used to use SS bolts on the lower shaft.

Chase the connector on the CTX is an M12 not a regular jack. What they did to make the current connector..... 3.5mm (not 1/4") is take an M12 and put a mono audio jack in it. What you do is cut the loner arm on the jack down to the same size as the smaller..... then solder a wire to each it should fit right in the M12 flush. I just used marine epoxy put it in before i pushed the jack in wipped off excess. We are using a 4 prong M12.... i pulled the prongs then you can either drill 2 holes for the wires or a hole large enough for the cable. Then a little marine epoxy in the back with the wire and screw down the ikelite nut. Give it over night and you should be good to go.
Well they arent making any more money on the phones Chase... same as the CTX. I think it was more in line so people could use ear buds, and yes maybe the price of accessory cables replacement... and just sort of bring the detector up to current elect specs.... like the USB ect.
-
Well ML isnt getting my money for those over priced headphones that fit badly with iffy sound designed for diving. Sorry... but just to much for what they are. Cant cost more than $20 to make in bulk. My other complaint...... people paid big bucks for their CTX...... had they used the same connector for the phones that they did for the coil cable we could have used the ones for the CTX already available. Ive had SEVERAL Xcals for years....... we complained for YEARS. ML knows a good many of us that use an Xcal also did a mod to allow us to use the headphones on both machines....... THEIR machines i might add. Then..... to not even have them available when the waterproof machine hit the street. Personally...... wait on MAL, GGA, Tony Eisenhower, do your own....... or just make the jack. Any of those choose are a better option for close to the same price.
-
Ive not got a good many hours using it in the water..... and really changed my opinion. My initial concerns were those fins having used the CTX.... that drags like a dead. But, the Nox has the right amount of weight to keep it on the bottom and little drag when sweeping. One of the best moving coils i think ive used. I got in a few hours during RED FLAG times .....handles swift water very well for the size of the coil. But yes........ catches more sand than youd think. Coils seem to have the same issue as the Xcal IIs did initially....... the epoxy is under filled....... and those cross overs have a lot of gap to fill. The Explorers really disliked dirt between the coil and cover. This is a very sensitive machine........ anyone notice chatter from sand or dirt? I guess ill have to check that next time out.
-
Lot of room in for sand.... especially with the way those cross overs are made.
-
Finally...... someone else said it. I believe ive mentioned earlier how ML seems to be a mirror image of GMC and their arrogance. Weve mentioned for years improvements needed on the Xcal..... then came the CTX.. they would have let us use it without that salt setting because they thought there wouldnt be many using it in the salt water .... wrong..... and how long did it take for them to finally provide that gasket.... both of which it took our spreading the news to finally get it fixed. BUT...... id also say they have done more R&D and put a lot into REAL changes over many companies who just make a change to their detector name and give us version 100000 of the same thing. Love um or hate um..... they are giving us some innovations keeping up with the NEW guys..... staying on top. Very few want to be without a ML.
-
Funny how if we need it ........ we can build it. Ive made several...... not all pretty lol, but all were sturdy and functional. Good job.
-
Skate...... then all i can say is NO ONE at ML uses those yellow phone or they wouldnt feel so superior. Even for diving .... not the best. They should have brought back those BLUE headphones on the Xcals they were the BEST for working in the water.... comfort and good sound..... an longer cable that wasnt as stiff as a board. Really...... thats a fair price on that coil.... lets see what they do with the big one. Kind of made me stagger when i saw the WM price. Skates ........ i think we just like a good deal now days. ML is about marketing...... they will push it as far as WE allow. I wont sell mine...... but ill never use mine either. I missed the advantage of that price piece of equipment? I used the phones bluetooth..... otherwise if i was going to use a wire...... id just plug in. Sooooooo how much you think the cable will be $80?
-
GL with the phones ive got 3 pairs now........ 2 mine and one pair is Tony Eiesenhowers. I like the two pair with piezos..... which you can make pretty waterproof.... but the audio sears volume and sound is hard to beat. sounds a lot like Pro Golds. I talked to someone i know at ML..... he said shipping was supposed to be first week of April then to dealers last week...... never happened. Machine is working great...... but dang what a SNAFU.

Ive got mine in the water most days....... but i dont believe its rated to 20 feet. but not certain which parts is a concern. Ill be surprised if anyone goes that deep and says much about it. Another thing Steve H........ how many $900 water machines have a 3 year warranty?
