Here's the link to my 3 silver rings thread:
Been out yesterday and found a nice coin spill - 4 coins in the scoop, one more in the second - 8€ in one hole - nice!
Sound-wise very bottletoppy, but it had something to it, that made me dig anyway. Glad I did
Oh, and I've found my first phone. Sadly it's damaged beyond repair, so I can't determine it's owner or use it. No recent drop, 3 scoops down - I've opened it up and it's full of sand and moisture. It rang at a solid 35 both in beach1 and park1 at 10kHz. My first thoughts were .. "another silver skull"
Clad update:
893€ - 7€ 'till break-even!

Thank you guys. Im pretty sure, the second ring is 925, too.
Still quite happy - sometimes I don't even find a single ring in month - finding 3 in 1h really made my day

Yeah - Skull on one hand, and Harley Davidson on the other

Exactly my thoughts!

I can't see any advantage in running the Nox in PP mode - respectively I think it's not possible, because of the "ratcheting" it does. It'll get less sensitive, the more / stronger target's you cross.
I've often done that with my Fisher and concentric coil on difficult spots (beach chairs with metal surroundings f.e.) to find coins in extreme proximity to other metal objects. That worked out pretty good, but the Nox is a whole different beast in PP mode imho

3 rings within 1h on the dry-sand - that deserves an extra thread for me, even if they're "just" silver
Here's the first one (925):
The second one has a mark, but I can't read it clearly. I think it's silver, too:
And just when I thought the 14g was the most heavy one I've ever found, I found this lump of 925 :
37g .. holy smokeria
Tone-wise I first thought it is a big lump of iron, but it was too small for that..

In my experience, the choice of scoop highly depends on the ground conditions, the targets you're after, AND personal preference. I have 3 different scoops for the beach, and I'm still not 100% happy
If I were you, I'd wait and see how the on-site conditions are and make my decision afterwards, if that lake is going to be you main hunting spot.
For me the scoop is as important as the detector itself! I regularly have to giggle, when I see them lubbers beach-detecting with a shovel and maybe a pinpointer - what a waste of time... but good for me, so I don't bother

There is a connector - you use the original lower shaft + one carbon fiber instead of two. Otherwise you couldn't adjust the length

Thanks, Steve.
1.5.0 to 1.7.5 - quite a step

Who said the Nox can't find big silver?
Holy crap.. that must be the heaviest ring I've ever found!
Clad totals in at 830€ by now - paid 900€ for the Nox. If I get the goldring back, it paid off in one season (well, because of the great weather mostly)!

So guys, if you were in a heavy iron field, what audio level would you have the iron on in all metal mode, if the non ferrous range was set at 25 max.
Default is 4 when using Field and Beach modes, 12 when using Park modes. I usually let it sit at 4, which is just enough to be heard when it's windy. Imho the low pitch and low volume really make the AM mode enjoyable on the Nox

My evergreen advice: Try lowering the sens. You won't loose a lot of depth (if any). On the dry sand beach I run sens at 18 or lower if necessary.

I can only speak for our dry sand beaches (which were really dry after weeks without rain), and I newer run my sens higher than 18. If it get's chattery, I lower it even more. I didn't notice any significant loss in depth.

Due to the user profile problems, I've simply took photos of my changed / prefered settings. That are only changed tone brakes for beach1, because the default ones do not fit our coins. My userprofile is a changed park1 running 5 / 10kHz, which needs different tone brakes, because the TIDs differ heavily. I also changed the pitches for the userprofile to eliminate the bottlecaps when coinshooting only.
That's about it .. 10-15 photos on my smartphone in a separate folder

If you want those pluggers style clamps, look for a place that sells carbon and kevlar tubes, they usually have those clamps in various sizes.
I've done that for 1-2h, but haven't found something over here
There are some tripod clamps which would fit, but they're too heavy. My goal is to make the machine a little bit lighter, because I am having problems with my hand after this season (been out A LOT).. the grip angle doesn't seem to be perfect for me
How ever - I'll probably bite the bullet and order some from overseas. It'll make a good winter project to mod the Nox and build a new coin tumbler

What's also interesting: "Want to fix it yourself? Check out our DIY guides.."
For the equinox they've probably intended to publish a guide for the software update process and for replacing the battery:
https://parts.minelab.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=265

Jip, I saw that, too
How ever - I was searching for "plugger" shaft lock alternatives, as shipping to germany costs more than the part itself... and found it handy to know the spare part number for the original cam lock. Now I can ask some german dealers for a price..
Just an example.

I dont know if this has been posted before - I just found a minelab sub-website, which lists some service parts and their numbers for various minelab machines including the equinox:

Equinox 800:

Honestly: I've stopped to noise cancel the nox on every use. I let it sit where it works well with the f-pulse, unless I get chatter / EMI problems, I'd noise cancel again.

Sensitivity settings? Always try to lower it first, when the machine gets chattery..
On the other hand conrete floor contains steel mesh most of the time - not the best place to metal detect. If reduced sensitivity doesn‘t help, you‘re probably out of options there, imho.
-
First hunt after beeing back home: 46€ - had a blast
-
14 days off on vacation in spain near alicante. Holy cow! There are some seriously busy beaches over here.. nice clear water, no shells or pebbles .. perfect for metaldetecting. The people over here seem to wear a lot more jewelery than in germany, too.
Bummer I have no detector with me..

What I thought - it will be possible, if they provide it.
Time will tell

I would like to see one being taken out . It might not be easy?
It‘s only held by one screw and then can be pulled out. Nothing difficult as far as I can see..

If you don‘t use the user profile button, do factory reset as phrunt suggested. That should fix it. If you use the user profile button, switch back to the normal profile before powering down the machine.

3 Rings In The Scoop
in Minelab Equinox Forum
Posted
Thank you. I almost exclusively hunt on the dry sand beaches in my area. There are some, which have a volleyball net or a football field to them - but to be honest, I never found much there and no jewelry at all besides a fake ring. The 3 rings were found at the nudism part of a beach. The two first rings were relatively shallow, the skull 2 scoops deep.
I've fine-tuned my tonebreaks to suit our local clad, so 95% of the time I hunt by ear. If something sounds unfamiliar / unusual, I take a look at the numbers. If I hit a beach with very few targets, I sometimes dig targets I normally wouldn't, just to see what targets "can" hide behind which numbers. The trashier the beach gets, the more I hunt by ear, if that makes any sense.
One of the main reasons (and imho the musthave killer feature for rapid coinshooting!) I've bought the Nox 800 is the adjustable tonebreak - In the beginning I've always looked at the numbers.. now as the days are getting shorter, I can only hunt in the dark - that plus my growing experience with my settings, make me look at the numbers less and less..
