over 400 rings from the area

    Wow, that's totally insane 😵
Is it a big / high volume beach?
I once found 12 rings on one beach at very low waterlevel. Been there again two weeks ago - only one blinger and one silver.

Most of my beaches are surrounding a relatively slim but long bay and the water get's very deep super quick near the waterway. We don't have tides and low water levels only occur during winter after big storms and a certain wind directions. You then must decide where to go during that 3-4h time window. It's a game of luck.

  2. Only "drop of bitterness": When you're waterhunting or even diving, you won't get around mounting the RC to the shaft. That's the main reason I've bought the RC + WSAII combo. We'll better don't talk about that goofy antenna setup thing .. 😁
I once saw a guy using the WS6, running the long antenna attached to his cap .. may work, but .. yeah 🥴

it made be focus more on the audio

I don't use an armband, RC still mounted onto the shaft - but I can double that so far, that I afterwards even think, the WS6 Master would have been totally sufficient for me and only half the price 🙄. In conjunction with the WSAII you could still use the Watchband or mount it to the shaft. Only downside: No XY-screen. The Deus is an "audio machine". The display is too small and contains too much information, imho. Don't like the font either.. I feel like I'm always double-checking the numbers, where on the Nox one glimpse is enough. I also use a tether.. imagine that thing comes of while waterhunting..🙈
If there's some time, I might design a diffent mount and 3D print it. How ever, I go by tone 90% of the time.

PS: Reaching the Pinpoint button the RC is also a pita. For me the remote should be mounted a little bit higher and more recessed - another reason I don't really use/need it at the moment.

    Sinclair, you are INSANE!

Oh yes, my buddy and I are 😅
You shoud have seen my wifes face, as I told her we're heading to the beach.. priceless 🙈

With Audio Response at 7 and Sens at 99 the machine went very deep - but you loose a lot of separation due to the distance to the ground through the snow. I ran it at Audio Response 6 and Sens 95 most of the time. Luckily the sand didn't freeze - I guess the snow acts like an good isulator.

I've counted the cutlery.. well.. >100 spoons (some of them went into our kitchen actually), ~50 forks and some knifes. It's crazy to see all that stuff piled up. I once keept all I've found within a month.. it was ridiculous how much trash and stuff came together.

    It didn‘t stop snowing …

The two loonies at the beach:

The snow has been 7-8 inches deep, so we didn‘t find all that much this time.

    2,20€, 2,50DM a blinger .. 007 😅 and a spoon.. I think I must have found about 100 spoons since middle 2018.

If you ever find yourself here in the US, I'll take you for a hunt in the woods.

That would be big fun for sure 😀

Actually there are some states in germany, where hunting in the woods is still allowed, but that's more or less the complete opposite location down south. I think it's a matter of time and it will be forbidden in every state at some point.

5-10cm came down since this morning and it's still snowing.. There'll only be surface finds I guess .. 🤔

I hunt in the woods all winter.

I'd love to hunt in the woods - but it's forbidden by law in our part of germany 🙄

You're not allowed to hunt on "unmoved / untouched earth" to preserve archaeology. For hunting fields, you need a certification, which I obtained after 3 years of waiting.

And then there is a lot of WW2 stuff in the woods over here, which you should better not dig 😬
There are still beeing so many bombs disarmed every year, it's rediculous. They even found one under a classroom some years ago 🙈

Planned to get out this night, but it seem's like we get some more snow .. 6h, 50% chance.. hmm.. Problably we'll stay at home.

  8. Nice hunt - there's definitely going to be more!

Btw, do you have a tip protector on your mi6, and if so, where did you get it?

You can swap the housing, if you wear it thru 🤠 that's really cool. Don't like the Mi6 as much as my fisher F-Pulse, tho'. I use heat shrink tubing as protection on both.

  9. Funny - just remembered, I‘ve found a twins pendant 3 years ago. I don‘t know where it is at the moment, but I‘ve found some photos of it:

It is also marked 333 and stamped „FB“, so it‘s from the same manufacturer, which is probably „Franz Breuning“

  10. We had luck, that the sand has been relatively dry, otherwise this wouldn't have been possible. It freezes earlier than one would think - sometimes well above 0 degree C, if the sky is clear and there's some wind.

Warm feet are key. You need good shoes and I wear ski socks. I also always check the wind speed and direction beforehand. Offshore wind helps a lot - the less wind the better. For me, the first 20min are always critical.. just when I think my fingernails are separating from the rest of my hand 😅, I take a short brake, have a smoke - most of the time the fingers are warm afterwards and stay so for the rest of the hunt.

We once went out at -8 degree C. I'll never do that again.
While it hasen't been a physical problem.. - we hauled a carpenter's hammer with us to break the frozen sand.. it took forever to recover the targets. It really sucks, if you hear a wonderful signal, but can't dig it!🤪

I guess the D2 LCD screen isn't up to cold weather.

Imho even at normal conditions, the screen isn't "the best". At night it has low contrast and personally I don't like the font they use for the numbers. When it is cold, the screen updates very slowly - my buddy though his D1 RC went dead, because it seemed like it didn't react to keypresses anymore - it actually did, but the screen took forever to display the changes 😄

    Today we‘re going nowhere:

I often wonder whether it is experience or a fresh angle with a new detector

Same here since I own the D2 😄

I think it's a bit of both. And then I often find myself digging apperently "bad" targets, just to know what the new detector is trying to tell me - not seldom they turn out to be good ones. You really have to slow down in those trashy areas. For me, encircling the suspected target with the tip of the coil (maybe 1/4 - 1/3) worked out best during the past hunts.

  12. -3,5 degree celsius and some snow won‘t hold us back, does it? 😄

I did pretty good for a 1,5h hunt. Could have stayed longer, but work is calling.

    3 silvers, 12,50 DM and 5,20€

The Deus display went practically unusable .. super slow. The Nox does better in the cold. How ever, went after tones and it worked out pretty well.

The center pin of one of the DIN cables broke off in the charging jack and it is getting difficult to charge the remote.

Yikes! That's exactly one of the things I'm afraid of happening. That connector is not designed to withstand many connections. May be ok, if you hunt every now and then.. but probably not for us 2-3 times a week hunters. They should have gone magnetic.

I took the advice from someone on the forum here and used an exacto knife to cut a small bevel on the coil cover where the charging clip slides on and now I no longer have to open the clip extra far in order the slip the clip past the little ridge on the cover.

    Good idea!

  15. Congrats on the ring!

Didn't test my ring arsenal yet, but gold seems to come in all over the place ID-wise - just as on any detector I have used.
It depends on size and weight. Had a thin, but big 333/8k coming in at 55, a small 585/14k at 59 and a >8g 750/18k at 85-87!

Silver really gets sqeezed in the upper 90s. As far as I remember, all my silver has been >=92 - except very small earrings.
