  1. Yes they do both look very similar,im not real sure what all the make up is Jasong,i need to do some more study of this area also. I will try to find picture of this hole and the transition it went through from ground level when i started. This area started out with red (IRON) im asuming, then darker to almost coal black color, then the white colored rock went back to to the typical color of the area (yellow, brown). Very hard to track what vein was doing here for someone with my knowledge of geology.

Someone that probobly remembers the geology of this spot is Chris Ralph, maybe he can chime in with his two cents, the area im talking of Chris is at end of trench where you and steve started testing the sdc's. On south side of trench. RICKpost-38-0-61870800-1451653482_thumb.jpgpost-38-0-82455700-1451653741_thumb.jpgpost-38-0-25285900-1451653948_thumb.jpg

  2. I dont know if this qualifies as being vug form but i dug this out down around 4 feet deep,i did not see a pocket at all this rock was by itself,i had been finding gold previously 3 feet away at a vein i was following in another direction when this dryed up i changed direction. I was using a gb2 as i was digging a lot of big rock overburden out and almost pitched this rock out all dirt covered it just looked like another rock,i put the gb on it and it screamed gold. I got out of the hole and cleaned loose dirt off and could see amethest and quartz one end was hitting strong for gold so i had a buddy cut it in half for me and i slowly cracked it open then could see crystaline gold inside i put this in HF.acid a few days to uncover and keep gold intact.

This rock cut in half in picture had the crystaline, the other rock also had gold but it was from a few feet away. Going to have to do somemore investigating to chase this out some VERY large basalt showed up

    in this hole. RICK

  3. Nenad, I got to looking at some notes and sure enough when i had the problems with connection from batteries it was the powerizer batts (very small nipple) that i had problems with. The tenergy nipples are quite a bit bigger like you say,and thanks for sharing the battery door to watch for also. I think the powerizer batts are what came with sdc when i bought it cant remember for sure, thanks a lot.

  4. I have had this cycling happen on my 2300 also, the batteries were fresh charged and after an hour it started cycling many times in the next hour. I noticed it would happen after a left swing that hit brush or hit rocks,i was sure the coil was bad or worse, i sat down and looked at everything and nothing apparent stood out as to why it was cycling. I decided to put another load of my spare batteries in it and it went back to normal, definitely something to do with connections or possible bad battery is what im thinking.

Question, you guys that are using rrechargeable batteries what tests do you put them through to determine if batts.are getting weaker? I do simple voltage checks on them periodically but can you do a load test say like i would check a truck battery to see if battery will actually hold proper voltage or not.

    Thanks. RICK

  5. Thanks Luke for your settings on TDI pro, i am always willing to try different settings with my old original TDI just to see how it reacts. I will try your settings on mine to see how it does. Is yours tweeked at all?

Also what coils are you using on these tests? Thanks Rick.

  6. Thanks for sharing Steve&Reg,the average prospector can find pretty much all the information they need on this forum in one place or another. Problem with me is retaining all that i would like retain for the day i need it . For example i have been meaning to do this tweek on my TDI for several months that Reg suggests, i had remembered the procedure so i figured while i was at claim last time i figured heck may as well do this little pot turn then test the next day. Only problem i had was once i got it all apart to expose the pot i needed to turn (i had a picture in front of me) i couldnt remember which direction to turn it and i hadn't wrote it down, and got to put it ALL back together again. If i had just remembered (ccw) it would have saved a lot of time. Oh well getting quicker now at tearing TDI down. RICK

  7. Well just got home from prospecting, didn't expect such a firestorm sorry Steve, i had better explain a few things that were going on,first of all there are reasons why sheriff wasn't contacted immediately, and second it was very obvious that they were cooking drugs to take somewhere to sell. The reason for the gun was for very obvious protection i never knew how many may be hiding in this hole on the hill.

we have had contact with sheriff there before when they were looking for someone, they were the ones that warned us about the goings on at this particular area on our claim. These kinds of people can be VERY unstable if you have any knowledge of them. I totally agree that anyone can and should be able to use all the public lands for recreational purposes i am an avid hunter myself. We have everything from people who target practice too a local family of snake hunters that frequently use this public land ,we dont care. I moved this guy out because he was right in the middle of our work area and blocking access. And he knew this. And im not over zealous miner by the way, just the opposite. We were told to be VERY careful here by local law enforcement, especially with out of state plates we take this seriously.

we dont have a problem with people on our claim that are not prospecting, there are two nice gentleman right now (prospectors) camped on us that i met and warned them about the goings on so they could be cautious also. We dont worry about this type of camping just the type i ran into. The guy i confroted in a peaceful way told me he would have this area cleaned up spotless when he left and he did,all except the white phosphorus looking stuff that was poured on the ground. By the way this was a civil conversation no guns drawn ,no loud cussing hollering, just my concerns why he needed to move and he understood

this. Public land is a great thing to have and we TOTALLY RESPECT this dont get me wrong. RICK

  8. Ya know whether i run an excavator on our claim which i may someday, or just detect and drywash doesnt matter to me right now,by the way the big mines are gonna scoop a lot of this up eventually anyway.

What does tick me off is people camping on and in the middle of your claim, when i pulled in my claim 2 days ago i spotted someone who never seen me untill i walked up to him strapping on my 357 i startled him and the reason for the gun was the SOB was cooking meth hid out 50 feet from where i work on load claim. I ran him off and took a good picture of his beat up dodge charger with a rack on top. Maybe he wasnt cooking meth but whats the Big pots all over his car used for. Winnemucca area watch for him.

  9. Thats an idea, then check at les Shwab daily too find out who was called out for 4 flat tires that day.

yea my luck it would be a BLM pickup or sheriff cruising the country. If they want to shoot stuff there i could set up some TANNERITE in a beer can and put it on a claim marker i know they would shoot it,boy would they have a surprise. Is tannerite legal in nevada? Hmmmm.
