  1. I use a TDI also at times, they are very capable of finding deep targets, fun to run too. Mine found me a nice little patch of gold last year that no other machines were able to see aparently, just a little out of reach for some of the other machines that had been over it.

  2. Yes the hydraflouric is very dangerous, its a last resort acid in my opinion.muriatic, oxalic, hydracloric etc.are all good in different ways. They all need to be respected just the same.

There is a couple extensive threads on this forum about acids and cleaning, pretty helpful. http://www.detectorprospector.com/forum/topic/404-best-way-to-clean-gold/

The red rocks were fairly heavy for their size yes. Too bad you cant get the heavy black rock back.

I found some very hot rocks 2 weeks ago in N.East Oregon that probobly arent anything but gonna check them anyway. Good luck.

  3. Just a reminder to you nugget hunters dont throw your hot rock's away, these pesky red rocks were showing up where i was working in pocket veins. I was using a GB2. There were red, grey, black, rocks all in this same area, all had gold in them. Being new to this i almost pitched these rocks but then decided i would take them home and look later, glad i did I soaked them in acid and they all had gold. I had been finding good visible gold here and it never looked like these oddball rocks that kept getting in the way of my new find. I know someone (i wont mention names) that had found these pesky hot rocks also around a deep deep mineshaft and he was working around and finding visible gold and kept pitching the red ones down the shaft out of the way. After i showed him my red rocks cleaned of minerals he was very disappointed that he had been throwing all his gold away. I keep everything that im not sure of now, hope

this keeps a little more gold in your pocket. RICK.

  4. Thanks VPaul, probobly a whole lot better than big headphones in 100 degrees, smaller and lighter is the way to go for sure. I wouldnt mind big headphones if they get air conditioning in them, someone may be working on this already. What im waiting for is pick up the hat off the shelf that has solar power, headlight, headphones, booster, and AC.with remote control for all on your watch. May as well dream a bit huh.

  5. Hi Chris and steve, just wanted to add Chris i was down on our claim in nevada where you and steve were testing sdc2300 's last time,i was there 27th.and 28th. Pretty damp. What i noticed with sdc this time in same location was i could run on #4 all the time and sometimes in afternoon when ground warmed #5 and it was still pretty quiet, could run threshold on level #1 and was very quiet yet. Just wondering if you two remember what settings you were running that trip when you were down over the hill?,thats where it was running at it's best on 4 and 5 in damp ground, when i was down trip before you could not run this high in dry ground, what do you think? Rick

  6. Sounds like ya got most of it Art, if you lose a Raidiator hose or belt they will put ya dead in the water alsoas far as the hose i carry emergency silicone tape it is VERY good tape and it almost vulcanzes to itself as you wrap it,this is great for many things. Alternator belt is a good cheap one to have also. If we carried everything we needed we would all be driving a service truck.

  7. Hey guys wanted to put my 2 cents in on the northern nevada tire experience, yea ive been there also.

I have ruined 3 toyos myself in 2 years, all toyo AT'S both generations AT&AT2'S 10 PLY ,sharp is sharp.

there is some damm sharp rock here for certain. I believe 10 ply is absolutely necessary for anything very heavy for sure 3/4&1ton especially. You can probably get by with 8 ply on the lighter vehicle's for awhile in these conditions, my opinion only but i have ran tires in a lot of rock and the heavier the better.

As far as tire manufacturers there are many good tires out nowadays many of them that were toyo michelin goodyear etc, that loose there patent after so many years and someone else picks it up and calls it something different and usually way cheaper now for the same tire.it doesnt always have the big name.

Deathray is running the Dick Cepek tires i see i always wanted to try some of those they have been around for many years and had some mean offroad rock tires. The ideal thing is if a guy WANTED to take the time to let the air out of his or her tires to around 20lbs.psi.w hen you leave the blacktop then re air when you return the big road we would have way fewer tire problems and a whole lot more traction and could deflate and inflate still quicker than changing thatdam spare that can be a pain in the butt.

Poor klunker i know where he's coming from also.

  8. Bado 1, i noticed the same thing with 2300 with the different sounds on lead mainly, and some small iron sounds differently. On your adapter for less than $10 i made my own ,only 2 wires red and white used. The black wire is not used here even though it is being said it pulls out of the minelab plug easily.

I put the standard 1/4 stereo plug back on the koss for spares, I also wrapped the complete adapter cord with emergency silicone tape no way of pulling on the wires now. Hope this helps,

  9. Im pretty sure my TDI called in a coyote one late after noon in nevada, cougars are populating everywhere,

now thats the only one i used to worry about but now the introduction of wolves are growing here in the northwest big time,i would hate to run into a pack of them for sure. I use pistols also in certain areas.

  10. I agree this is the best informative place to get good reliable information from a bunch of very knowledgeable bunch of individuals. Kinda like one stop shopping, without the salesman. Rick.

  11. Were not out to kill all snakes just the ones that are coming out of the rocks literally where we are working.

there is also a very long snake here that is very fast moving racer snake they called it. I watched one about 6 foot go up a steep bank right in front of my sister fast she didnt even see it. Anyone familiar with these in nevada? I was told they are really pissy but not venomous.

  12. Heres a mohave that i shot the head off right where we were working i went to pick him up with a shovel and bury him with the others and he coiled with no head or rattles and his own head bit himself that was laying beside him. Too ugly for me to eat.
