    Hi all of You!

I want to share the first toughts on my new project for a waterproof amplified headphones need...

As usual, I'm pissed by a number of things, not to be boring, but at a certain point my patience has a limit and with people legs between my search pattern, swimming at dawn over me...What can I do to relax myself until the summer ends?

So I started a long research for a real tiny, cheap and effective amplifier board to install inside the headphones and hopefully to pump decently the audio on my Ctx3030..

I'm probably the last of the tribe that discovered this item, but hey! I'm impressed by the things can  be done with this little toy...

The board name is Pam8403 and is dirty cheap, to say a lot you can find it for 3 bucks in some cases...
There are multiple variants of this board even with potentimeter already wired!
This is however a digital class dual channel stereo amplifier and the audio source by the ctx is mono...
So I'm still looking how to manage the wiring scheme to don't make a mess...
I bought a pair of anti noise headphone frame to apply the speakers and the board and right now studying a way to get some power with an internal dedicated battery...The downside is that these boards need a specific tension of 5V and to be powered solely..
In my case, I need to waterproof the entire system with silicon gum (same type for epoxy moulding)...Wagnersil 22NF will cover completely the stuff inside...When it is time to replace the battery, the problem will arise of having an isolated compartment for it
Once I'll be able to master this thing, I'll show if it works properly...
I'm looking for the right speakers too...

As usual, any thought or suggestion will be greatly appreciated!

    HI!

How  do you ensure the waterproofness of the ctx when you diving? I have blocked the usb port completely by using Silicon both inside and outside the port. When it comes to Battery,I haven't done anything because I have the updated version of the ctx which have a better battery seal and just trust that(maybe I have not to!)

I use only my extra spare battery because the original regargeable one does'nt work and I'm not so sure if that is as good as the original one under water(waterproofness)

  2. According to the Fisher Impulse AQ facebook site, there is 99% done with the machine. After some reports from AQ limited owners, you see peoblem with battery, cable connectors, noisy coil in the salt water, high temp on the control box, short shaft,,,,,,,,,,and I assume these all problems sums up the remaining of 1% left??how can it be? Has anyone any guess when the final unit is available to buy worldwide?

For the relative brief experience I have gained with the Tdi Beachhunter in the last year, after modifying it, changing coil, changing batteries and testing every possible combination of gain, delay and GB, I can say with certainty that such a low delay in salt water  can only give you problems. I am not talking only about noise, but also about making target identification less effective. After 11 years with a Vlf, it was a sudden transition, with no similarity between the two machines. Now, I'm peacefully setting a delay of 15uS, which I consider the minimum acceptable for a stable threshold and the removal of trivial insignificant pieces of foil. Maybe hunting for nuggets, I would use under 10uS, but away from a beach and away from human traces. Following an "edge" can be frustrating too simply cause of the minimum side wave action on you.

If I think of the AQ as the next detector in my hands, I can already see it in tone mode, with a gain of 4, sat on 5 and reject on 3. Delay can only be dictated by environment...

All this to be reworked over and over again and only on "certain" types of sand.

So powerful that I'm looking for an effective tool to seriously dig so deep submerged.

I talked yesterday with Alexander Tartar, the designer of AQ on Facebook,he said the final unit is going to be available worldwide around the new year,so I am soooo happy to buy one as fast it hits the european market,,,,

The reason discussion died out is First Texas is barely dribbling a few detectors out the door. There are no major problems with the machine. If there was, I’d tell you. It’s a PI, it beeps, it finds stuff. The battery system is a miss and is being redesigned as we speak. Unless anyone is in a big rush, at this rate may as well wait for the finished version. That pretty much sums it up.

    Hi steve!

Do you mean it is possible to buy one if the buyer lives in europe right now?or do I get that wrong?

  5. I think one of the worst detector Minelab has ever produced is Go find series.I know it aims at beginners and budget market but the quality is really crap cheap plastics. The Vanquish series altso doesn't add anything new to the market either.I think they have to focus on their best detectors like Excalibur and CTX and NOX and improving them instead.

WooW,so impressive depth!! was that hunt in salt water or lake? I would love to see how this machine react  in wave action.

Dang!! you are awesome Joe! In the video I hear some faint signals which I would dig and you didn't and you find a real signal which turns out to be Gold. That's a comparison between my ears and a PRO ears that makes such a huge different! Great job!

This will be the only option to post an update, as I can't show anything but the sea bottom for today😒...

It happen too many times to prepare yourself, to check at least three times by day the wind radar, to follow the moon progress, to timing the tide for hunt in the right area....

When all the factors are aligned and you also find the expected conditions in the place you was avidly following...

    This can happen....

    Nothing...Absolutely nothing......💀

A coin, a fishing weight  and silence...so much silence to destroy the patience....

Now, being a so called "pro" (this only mean for me "no gold no bread") this really usual condition creates sorrow....

To be in the only good place to hunt around and find nothing else than a miserable coin can hurt to the soul..

In a way or another after years, all we are used to fill the calendar with more winning days than defeat days...

Funny thing is my curse of camera on my shoulders, as everytime I have with me the way to film the session, absolutely nothing relevant appears!💩

    Black cross for today....💀

    Cheers all of You!

    perfect bottom.jpg

I have been there many times.Same situation.Sometimes after several Days only finding 2-3 coins!! and same Place suddenly getting gold ring out of nowhere! It's all depend on how much sand moves around and make the bottom of the sea like sh….t.I usually tries several times with different Machines both PI and VLF,and nothing!!

Finally, I sent a message to Alexander, and he explained to me the reasons (which I will not disclose) for selling the limited only in the USA.

so I can understand fisher for once.

I got slightly carried away in a previous message under the blow of anger and disillusionment. Please excuse me

i will wait the final product..

I remain attentive to the reports of the lucky ones who will have the first version. please don't come and test on the old continent😅🧐

Dang!! I want to know the reason as well!! Please Alexander if you read this send me a message !!!!!!

Save Your money for the AQ.... and wait ....Trust me...

I'm also thinking twice to modify it to obtain  quieter operations.

I do water hunting only and I'm not fine with the original coil...ok..... but I'm next to spend the same money the AQ is priced today (even if is only the first prototype) on a machine that is not so good for what I do.

    Pointless.....

    Just my 2 cents...

Thanks a lot for your advise and guiedlines! Then i'm going to wait for an AQ in the future and skip buying TDI! In some way it is good that those whom going to buy the AQ Limited Edition with lot of functionality lacks, going to test the machine and rapport how it performs and then when the final unit comes to market we can decide if it is Worth buying or not!Cheers

Pay attention to that video...The final advice for more depth is really valuable..But don't forget the 14.8V battery pack He's running!

I don't have the technical knowledge to suppose that higher voltage is better or worst than usual 12V original battery, but I can say for sure that with full battery, when I'm approaching the water, the noise is even more than a couple hours after when the battery is going down...

Voltage regulated is a thing and voltage driven, is another...

So, I mean that a more sensitive machine cannot be only deeper, but also more sensitive to environment induced noise too...(The Impulse is been a project to go over this problem)....

In conclusion, I'm now able to say that is better a little "blind"machine in saltwater, which can only sound a certain category of relatively bigger size and conductivity, than a super sensitive one, which force You to elevate to the stars your focus on signals that You can barely understand between noise...

If I leave a broken chain of 4 grams, but I dig  two 3.9 grams wedding bands in the same time passed looking for the chain, I'm perfectly fine!

OK,You already have TDI,Equinox,CTX,....and still wants to buy an AQ.I want as well an AQ instead of TDI but as i said Before only God knows how long time it will take  to be able to buy one.Is it Worth waiting(for me) or if there isn't so much differents between these two Machines then I can buy one TDI,or?

Sorry, I was editing my post when You writed back...

Thanks to my sore back, I'm doing at the same depth You want to hunt, not wading but snorkeling...This give me the option to go down when I hear a signal and dig it like when I scuba dive...(Useless air consumption looking for targets without clues and terrible weight effort eliminated!) You only need a dry snorkel type and believe me You'll love it!

All I can say about the Tdi downthere is....Noisy!

There's obviously the way to keep it stable and silent, but is only detuning gain, rising delay and threshold a bit OR turn off GB...

If You keep the slightest treshold sound to hear the really faintest deep signals, You'll also increase the waves signals response by the coil...I mean every single movement of water on You, including the shaft swing to the left💀.

Deep...for sure...but the price is patience!

I can't compare it with a Sea Hunter however due to a couple things...

The SH coils are generally blind to really thin targets, unless those really under the coil (seen on Youtube multiple videos)...

The smaller inside coil of the dual field is for sure more sensitive, but I repeat...Cost You more noise!

The depth is for sure another beast, I'll never found a thin band to sound at 35cm far from the coil...I can shoot the proof on camera, even if an air test is pretty useless...with GB off lowest delay and almost no treshold You can hear it!!!

Ohh,Thanks again!! The sea hunter is super Deep and that you said about the sea hunter coil which is blind to small targets are absolutly correct! I sa two videos on Youtube from Detectorcomparisson using TDI beachhunter with GB off, full gain in salt water and it was very stable, maybe because there was'nt any wave action there. My problem with the sea hunter is that it is VERY difficult to hear Deep targets because you only get a super tiny change in threshhold which is very easy to miss.My hope for Beachhunter is that I can hear those super tiny Deep whispers with it.By the way I have watched your videos on Youtube and  just can say WooW,awsome hunts and of couars super nice gold rings!!!!
