I've been using the deus 2 for 1 month now, and I only have good words for this machine, every time I go out with the deus 2, I really enjoy it, it's incredible how deep it is, the sensitivity it has, it identifies both large and super small targets from up to a few millimeters, it is so sensitive that it alerts you to targets that are close to the diameter of the coil without actually being inside the coil, in soil with a lot of garbage it is great, in highly mineralized soil it is great and in clean soil it is already It is something incredible, I took out a coin that with a minimal sign and already bored of digging I thought that there was nothing and a not very large coin came out and I was amazed since the ground was very hard and compacted. I just want to say that every day I'm glad I bought the deus 2, and thank you for advising me, I already have enough coins, some silver from 1600AD, objects like old buttons, medals of saints, etc., also scrap metal, as happens to us. everyone hahaha.

Finally you did the good choice , well done ... Dont hesitate to post pics of your finds especially the coins , I am curious to see what can be found in Spain vs over here in France thanks ...

  2. Yes it depends from what you plan to do with your detector . But if you look for lightness and you are a coin/relic hunter , the Orx ( or more generally the wireless XPs ) are much lighter than the competition ( around 450g difference vs a ML design like the Xterra Pro for example - ( 850g for the Orx , 1300g for the Xterra , 35% difference )

Picked up a Quest X Pointer max Pin Pointer, I will say this is probably the most sensitive pin pointers I have ever used, and it is a discriminating pin pointer which works very very good...

I agree , I use it since 2 years now and it is an excellent pinpointer , very reliable and more compact than its competitors . It has a lithium battery much more reliable than alcaline or NiMh batteries , etc ..  Yes the buttons are a little hard but this is really the only ( little ) negative thing about this pinpointer for me ..

  4. I never rely on separation static tests , because they are not reliable for me . As I already said the results from the field can be opposite from the static home test results . For example a Vanquish is better than a Deus on the separation test I did at home , where it is obvious that a Deus ( 1 or 2 ) outperforms a Vanquish in the irons in the field .

Long story short I only trust field tests for separation assessments .. At least 10 or 20 hours in the field , then not only a 2mns video in a kitchen ... 🙂

I havent done the V1.0 update btw , too busy at work for the moment ... I will post my results as soon as I have them

Id be willing to pay if we got quality updates more frequently.

Personnaly I would never pay for a detector software update, whatever the brand . Not only because of the money , but because of the risks of being hacked .

It is always risky to give bank accounts infos to a site . Only Amazon and Microsoft have mine ...

yea, bit crazy the day they release an update and everyone is excited they didn't have their website ready to serve it out

I'm sure they've got their IT tech's on it, but takes some of the buzz away from a new update.  Sounds a good one though, I like the FE T.ID on/off option and the Faster Target ID but I'm very disappointed to see nothing in there about improving gold mode, that was really my deciding factor if I'd get a Deus 2 or not and it appears they're not able to or don't want to improve its small gold performance at this stage.

May be you should apply at XP for an IT tech job Simon , looks like they need one ... 🙂

I do like both models but the 2023 X Pointer Max model is my favorite pin pointer of all I have used, just a great pin pointer all together in my opinion

I have the 2021 "old" 🙂 version . My favorite pinpointer by far too, a great design by quest , thanks to them ..

I am from Vigo in Galicia I usually go to a beach called Samil, very large with many tourists in summer.

Welcome to the forum Borja ..

There are a few galleon wrecks at Vigo if I remember well , it looks like to be the right place to find a few 4 escudos gold coins ... 🙂

... A few months ago I posted a comparison that included a question that went something like "Between the Equinox 800/900, Deus 2 and Legend, which one has to go and which ones get to stay?" At the time I thought for sure the one to go would be Deus 2. That has totally flipped. Deus 2 isn't going anywhere and neither is my Legend.

I dont have a 900 but I did notice in the past that it sometimes needs several months and even more than a year to correctly assess a detector .  Drawing conclusions after only 10 or 20 hours is risky even if tempting as there is a strong demand for tests and reports when a new detector is released ... I often made this error in the past ,  I am much more careful now ... 🙂

100 hours testing like you did is the right way to do the job , and there are very few people to do that.  Thanks for your report ...

Hello everyone, I have a question that I cannot find, at what battery level do you charge the coil? How far can the battery be discharged? before putting it to charge?, and that it does not damage the battery, since lipo batteries cannot drop more than 3.3v so that they do not get damaged, because the PDA and the ws6 headphones in the info menu you can see the voltage but in the coil you can't see it. So, how many bars can you spend before charging and not exceed 3.3v?

You dont have to worry about the battery level or voltage or anything else when charging .Just plug the connectors and wait before the coil or/and the CB or headphones are full .

Personally I use XP wireless detectors since 2013 and I have never looked at any voltage info or whatever . Sometimes I just charge my Deus during half an hour or one hour , it is not fully charged and this has never caused an issue in the field ..

My search is only in the field, and I didn't trust the video much either.

I never use home separation tests because they often lead to wrong conclusions ... Why ? Because an iron infested soil is a 3D structure much more complex than a coin and a nail set down on the ground .

When I have a assess to new detector , I always spend a few hours in the field , in iron infested places that I know very well so that I can quickly see how the detector works vs the previous ones ...

Concerning the videos , the pb is that you dont know the guys who are doing them . Even a newbie can do a youtube video and draw conclusions , often wrong ...   Smaller coils have better separation than bigger ones , and not the opposite as stated by this guy  ...

At least on this forum you have very experimented people who can help to take the good decision .. The right place for the right choice ... 🙂

But in cleaner ground, the 28 will outperform the 22 on depth.

Personally I didnt notice a depth outperformance between the 22 and 28 , just a slight improvement may be 2cms on a 10g coin at 30cm depth .

    Summary  :

28 :  - slightly deeper than the 22 on big targets in clean soils
            - a pinpointer is required

    22 :  - much lighter than the 28 (350g instead of 420)
             - more accurate
             - much better in the irons
             - more compact then easier to put in a rucksack

Odin , these are the 4 reasons why I use the 22 , personally loosing 2cms on big coins is not a big deal vs the 22 advantages 🙂 ...

very good article, because you already make me doubt, since where it detected is open field, you have clean soil and others something mineralized, I would like to be sure since the coils cost a lot, and right now the only measurements that the deus 2 has are the 22cm and 28cm if I'm not mistaken?

yes 22 and 28cm , there is even a bigger 34X28cm coil but this one is not for me lol🙂  .. .

Look at Accessories | XP METAL DETECTORS  for the detailed infos ...

The one with 28 told me the one from the store, which is the most balanced between depth and discrimination, and I don't know what to do, have you tried the 2? hahaha

I have tested the 28 for a French shop ( Chateau Numis ) a year ago . Look at my report at Test XP DEUS 2 28FMF en terres intérieures (metaux-detection.fr)  , its in French I hope you can translate it using google ...

Long story short the test was very positive , except that the 28 is too front heavy for me as I like light machines .  And a pinpointer is required as it is quite difficult to center the targets with such a big coil..

Then I preferred to wait for the 22 before buying a D2 . It was a good decision the 22 is the perfect coil for me ..

For me the 22 is a must have for inland hunters you cant go wrong with it . The 28 is more dedicated to beach hunters or clean inland areas I think ...

I use both the Apex and the Deus 2 presently.  I've been using an Apex since late 2020.  The first one (early in production) had issues right out of the box, but Garrett sent an entirely new one and a return label for the first unit. The replacement unit developed a coil issue after a short time, and again, Garrett sent a new, replacement coil. That's top notch Garrett service.

    ...

You are lucky , I did receive a new coil from the Garrett European after service but they never replaced the CB which I believe was faulty too .

Eventually as I was very disappointed by the detector I sold what I could . I sold the coil as it was brand new and seemed to be ok and the Z lynk wireless headphones  (which are excellent ) .

And the CB went to the recycling bin , as I didnt want to sell a probable faulty component to an other user ...

    End of the story ..

deus 2 with control box, 28cm dish, ws6 headphones, they let me at 1300€, does it seem like a good price?

Yes 1300E is a good price . Over here the same config is proposed at 1600E .
    XP DEUS II Pack 28FMFRCWS6 - metaux-detection.fr

Just personally I prefer the 22cm coil , the 28cm is much heavier than the 22 ( 420 vs 330g ) , and the 22 is much more accurate and easier to use in the irons than the 28.

These 2 coils are very different , the 28 is more a specialized coil for depth in clean areas while the 22 is much more polyvalent with almost he same depth than the 28 ...

If gold comes out, it would be from relics, such as rings, coins, they are large pieces, and most importantly, coins, relics, etc.

The Deus2 goes deeper than the D1 because of its multifrequency , especially on big coins at depth. Then my choice would be the D2 . If you dont need a control box the D2 WS6 Master at around 800E is an excellent and affordable choice .

It sucks you had a bad run with the detector palzynski but I guess you could replace the detector name and three issues with different problems and your statement could be just about any newly released detector over the past few years, none really get a flawless entry to the market.

I am sure they've been fixed or were more random problems than with all detectors as I've seen plenty of people using the Apex on social media with nothing but praise for it.

Actually I have never had so many issues with a detector since I detect ( 1998 ) . And there are very few users using an Apex in this forum .

Two reasons why I am not ready to try a second test ...
