Let us know who has them please.

Carolina, Did you say stand alone coils for Deus 2 won’t be available until late October?  I ordered a 9” in January and last update from my dealer stated they’re not certain but expect a few to come with their next batch of detectors. October would be 10 month wait if that’s correct. I’m doing well with the 11” but really want the 9”.

I was told by Charlene Sabisch ( Andy’s wife ) that it would be October before they would arrive as a single unit. They have the 9” detectors arriving soon though. That’s all I know.

After doing a few charge/discharge cycles the case bulge went away!  I haven't gotten to the inside of the case yet.  I did drill out the front panel screws using a piece of brass tubing in a drill.  I would think this drilling would have provided any inside pressure an escape.  I don't get what could occur to cause the bulge and then eliminate it.

From these charge/discharge cycles it looks like the factory pack is holding 2000-2100mA.  I would think that would last more than an hour - maybe 3 hours if the detector uses 700mA(?).  I've read several different specs on this.  Do you have any data on below:

    1) nominal current requirements

    2) minimum-maximum design voltage range

    3) stock battery specs

Pjrough, you made a statement that the AQ's lower voltage is 10V.  Joe, you published a factory battery charge/discharge chart that gave ~14.3V fully discharged, ~17.5V fully charged.  Usual discharge spec on NiMH is 1.1 or 1.2V per cell.  If 11 cells that's 12.1-13.2V per pack.  I was using 1.1V per cell cutout and at that voltage the charger stopped and read the pack voltage at 12.87V.

So I am left wondering if maybe the factory charger is not as good as my RC charger and there may be more life to this pack than I was led to believe.

This will be the last I respond to this thread. Your pack was over charged and one of the 11 (1.5) volt batteries likely exploaded. This resulted in the case bulge. Drilling out the screws gave the air tight case a vent. You likely ruined the battery with your charger. Ole Beechnut is correct. I will show you one last time, a properly charged stock battery with the supplied charger from Fisher. 17.4 volts.

Awesome looking rig there, Carolina! ?? You get two thumbs up. ? I especially like the camo tape on the handle.

Did it make it even lighter? ?

Quite honestly it came that way and it is the only thing I am not happy with. The close up is to show the differences between the cuff and stand. I have already sent a letter to the manufacturer with my thoughts of the camo handle. The prototype shown has a black handle. Some bat wrap on the way should fix this issue. Thanks for your compliments and humor.

Those are not twist locks???? Then it is something like the original "Doc's CF Rod"  Like a compression fitting with o-ring?  I will pass on that too.

Looks like twist locks to me..... https://goldenmaskdetectors.com/accessory-details.php?id=9&lang=en

The company also states no coils over 1.65 pounds. I have never seen a weight rating on a rod. With the force of water hunting I am skeptical this will stand up?

Yes they do look very similar but are not the same for several reasons. Yours clearly state there is no control box mount. My picture clearly shows the RC mounted on handle. It seems you are skeptical of most everything, especially those things you don’t even possess ?. You also jump to conclusions. No where have I said this is for water use. I have a Deus shaft set up for water which I am quite satisfied with. Those who know me, know I buy two of everything. I have another RC on the way and I have been told that late October the 9” coils will be available as a single unit. That will be my primary water coil. Until then I will make do switching the coil. This shaft is quite rugged and well built. It will serve me nicely I believe. Should it fail in any manner I will post. As I stated before I buy in pairs. I own two AQ’s, two Tarsacci’s, two CTX’s, two swords, two blue Excals, two green Excals, two VALLONS, and a host of others. The only machine I have only one of is the Equinox. My good senses told me the poor build quality and poor water performance, should limit me to one.

I applaud you for getting something [because you have to]  But no thanks on the twist locks for Salt Beach hunting. HH

They are not what you think. Seems you are always quick to judge.

Tested the 9" coil charging "live" with a small light battery and it works. Shows as charging on the remote. Drawback is of course the clip which extends past the coil cover. I think I'm going to get another charging clip, cut out the charging part and zip tie it to the coil. Maybe it's been discussed before... ?20220402_101211.thumb.jpg.c26fc54a714a27a38e56c938fdee42de.jpg

I saw a mod for a magnetic charger clip similar to the NOX here, but he upset the moderator and him and his post have been removed ?. There is a glue on charger on fle bay.

I've been hearing about the D2 coils having a considerably shorter run time per charge than the remote and headhones, depending on the programs used, in some cases only lasting 4 hours or so. If that is the case, will the XP Emergency Charger work on the D2 coils and can you still detect while charging the coil (in a dry environment only, of course)?

    XP Emergency Charger

If someone has only 4 hour run time on their coil, no matter what program or phones used, it is either a bad coil or has not been charged properly.

Has anyone had problem, albeit small one, with getting remote out of the case?  Mine fits rather tight  and gets hung up in the cutout on the back where the recharging cap protrudes past  the case.

If you unscrew the black cap before trying to remove, it is much easier.

Not all inclusive and just done in air to try to identify the range of gold items. I didn't test all on hand just enough to realize how big of a range gold does fall in on this machine. I used Beach Sensitive for the test....11" coil...your results could vary! Notice how the square tab falls right in the middle of the test pieces range. But you knew that I'm sure.....

I scraped off the glue and tried to remove the screws from one end cap - the heads just broke off on all 3.

Here is what I see as the pin connections.  Do the two NC's actually do anything?  I'm thinking next I'll cut a section out of the bottom so I can see the guts of the thing. Or do you guys have photos of how it is put together?

Already a bit of blue corrosion at the base of the A pin on the headphone receptacle.

    FactBatt.png

Once again you will destroy the case to gain access. Drill out the screws and then try running a razor knife around the face plate. Heat the blade as needed. There are 11 NiMh batteries in series 1.5 v each inside. The pins marked A&B,  6 & 7 o’clock are the phones. The remaining pins have no purpose for the limited edition AQ.

I’m usually not an early adopter, if for no other reason, it has been because I like a good deal, so I wait for gently used to come up on the market. I’ve only bought 2 detectors brand new. One was the equinox and the other is the Deus 2. On both accounts I’m happy to have been an early adopter. The one caveat with the Deus 2 is I have not downloaded the “big numbers” update. I’m very happy on the earlier 0.6 version, even if they did nothing else to it. In a short time, I’m sure they will start shipping with the big number update and some people have complained about a loss of depth and other performance characteristics. Others say they haven’t experienced this. I can’t comment because I haven’t experienced it for myself.

There is no issue now with the current v.6 update. It adds the large numbers and I assume the additional language with no loss of depth or stability.

I dont hunt in water then I dont have this issue but I guess that in water there are more mechanical constraints on the shaft than during inland hunting . Probably this is the reason why a lot of beach hunters have replaced their Equinox stock shafts with carbon shafts ...

I hope there will soon be carbon shafts available for the D2 , either from XP or an other manufacturer ..

There are 2 different CF aftermarket shafts available now for the Deus ll. How well they work, I have no idea. I did however purchase one of them which is in shipment now. We shall see.

I don't like it when we as consumers get less and less for our money. The Deus 2 is getting a premium price for LESS.   Deus knew this was going to be a water machine but provided at detector rod unusable in water [less].

Rather than the crappy headphones supplied, how about a cable included so I can use my quality phones. Or better yet supply something half way decent.

This is why Deus has not earned my dollars yet. I refuse to apologize for manufactures shipping unusable junk.

I have no issues at all in the east coast Atlantic Ocean with my Deus ll shaft. I also paid $28 for a ip 68 connector and 4’ cord to use my personal phones so I am as happy as a pig in slop ?. I’m thinking the Deus ll is just not for you.

I’d like it especially if it Doesn’t work as I’d gut it and put lithium ion cells in it like Joe did. Let me know and I’ll PayPal  you for shipping etc.

Joe built his own case as the Fisher battery case can not be opened without destroying it. Joe and I both had the same idea at first. Also the case is to small for the LiPo batteries. One thing, you must plug the charger into the wall socket before connecting the battery. If battery is connected before plugging in the charger it will not charge. Also after 5 hrs if green light is not on yet unplug the battery. Manual says sometimes the green light does not come on and 5 hrs gives a full charge. SMH

Here is my stock battery.  See how the top is popping up? Is this normal, or means the cells are bad? It only ran the detector an hour or so first run.734C554A-4562-4152-AA0C-7DEB500A3CF4.thumb.jpeg.d4dc47dba4c05e631274861d4ed80faf.jpeg

It does not look correct. Normally I would say overcharging battery issue. Mine at first only gave me 2 1/2 hours at best. I gave one to Eric and the other one has gone flat and won’t take a charge from non use since I bought one of Joes batteries. If I can get it to charge you can have it. Will be in touch tomorrow. Since Joe sold a lot of batteries maybe someone else can help you. They are not worth what Fisher sold them for.
