Where do we get these orange o-rings? Mine is missing the outer one shown in the photo.

Another thing is the coil attach screws. I went to take the detector out of my car and one fell off. I found it but it got me thinking I need to get spares or devise a way that it for sure doesn’t come apart.

(thanks for the tips on the receptacle- mine’s good now)

Pretty sure that is a Joe mod, for the power connector if you will. I imagine digikey or maybe mouser would have them. Here is a picture of my machine at Eric’s house with a similar black O ring and plastic locknut on the Souriau coil connector. I’m sure Joe will give a part number when he sees this. I would caution for both mods, to be sure that the mating of the inner O ring which actually is the water tight seal is not impaired by the outer mod O rings.

I am just like you Strick. I could care less what someone uses. I love my Deus...but it struggles in that nasty red dirt. I believe the D2 should do better, but so will the equinox, and its $600 cheaper, so that's what I will probably buy next, ha. Anyone get their feelings hurt by that? ?

I hope and pray everybody in my neck of the woods buys a Equinox or Legend.

It likely spent the past month or more on a ship to get to USA.

Phrunt, I read the Chinese are moving into your neighborhood. The Solomon Islands. Not a good thing for anyone I think. Off topic.

I probably won’t update it until version 0.7

13-1-22 v 0.6 is the original version. You can see yours in options, info. The only version out now is 11-3-22 which is good. No issues.

The Grey Ghost Headphones are NOT or diving.

I think you misread my post. He is “working” on making a set of amphibians for diving. The gray ghost series have been out for many years, even back when Gary Storm owned the company. “One” of the models is the amphibians with waterproof piezo’s “benders” not speakers. He needs to work out the connection and size of piezo used for the Deus ll. Your model has speakers not piezo’s.

The Cam Locks may be the culprit. There was a couple videos showing how to adjust and tighten them up using shims.

My unit takes a little force to close the levers and I have zero wobble.

Can you post a link to the videos ? Thanks

Just got my D2 (11 inch coil) in the mail yesterday and got to take it out today for the first time, for about 1.5 hours.  This is my first MF machine, the closest I’ve used prior to this is my Simplex+ which I really enjoy.  I was worried when I bought the D2, that It would be way too advanced for a complete newbie to MF machines but Ive spent quite a bit of time watching videos and reading the manual.  Anyway, I made a few tweaks to the park program, switched to the XY screen and gave it a go at a local park.  Long story short, I ended up finding 25 pennies, 9 quarters, 3 dimes ( 1 Silver Rosie) and 2 nickels.

From my new guy perspective, I have to say that Im really liking this machine ALOT.  Im not going to touch on all the things that everyone already knows about the quality of it, but I have to say that for me, it seems pretty intuitive to operate.  What I mean by that is, I was expecting the remote to be much more complicated than in reality.  Now, having said that, I still don't completely understand what all the different programs and options do, but its not as daunting as I was expecting.  Additionally, the XY screen really does work very well.  I got fooled a couple times by pop tabs, until I figured out the tone nuance but after that I didn’t dig any more pop tabs.  Im retired from the military and deaf in my left ear, so it is difficult to hear the audio on some machines but I have to admit that what everyone is saying about it being a tone machine, is true.  Using the headphones, I could start to pick up on those subtle tones although I have to say I’m not a big fan of the headphones as they tend to hurt my ears after a little while.  Anyway, just wanted to share and to let folks know that just because you’ve never used a Deus in the past, don't be afraid to give it a try.

So what tone were you hunting in ?

Who is your phone contact at First Texas if you want to discuss anything regarding the AQ you own?

Edit: never mind, I finally got Felix by asking for "service".

He explained there is no warranty carryover - which I expected.

Let me know if any of you open this thing up (take photos!).  I fully expect to maintain this all on my own if I can.

Not so sure you can get it apart. Most everything is glued or epoxied in place. Joe and I have talked about it but neither one attempted yet. Joe and I both tried the battery and failed short of destroying it. Eric found that the metal locknut on the female Souriau connector was a source of capacitance that created issues in the salt water. After much ordeal he was able to drill it off as it is glued in place to replace it with a plastic locknut he cut and threaded. Let us know if you bust it open. I believe it has few if any serviceable parts. CJC says the pots are junk and should be the first to fail. VaShay I believe. I have no idea if FT will service the limited edition after warranty expires.

This is what I posted in another thread.

"I bought the Deus compatible Grey Ghost over the ear phones and the audio is superb. They even have a version with more upgraded speakers.  I tried Grey Ghost phone a long time ago and the sound wasn't good. They really upped their game with sound quality."

    I'm LOVING these!

Carter and I talked maybe three weeks ago about the pin out on the Deus ll. At that time he was in the process of making a set of amphibians for diving. Not sure where he is at with that right now. The upgraded version are called platinums.

I did cancel. But got a chance to hunt side by side with one for a day. I was not impressed with the mid to low conductor response (nickel on down), which seemed simply adequate. Not bad, but not as good as other machines I already have. But it also seemed to be excellent to superior on silver coin type targets, holding a good target id extremely well on copper and better targets in extreme magnetite ground. So I dropped the idea of hunting gold with it, and ordered again, but this time with 11” coil instead of 9” coil. Optimizing more for hunting silver in parks, than smaller gold type targets, which was my original thought.

Seems just the opposite of my findings. The pigtail can be bought from Diggers Den in Virginia for $16 shipping included. Talk with Sonya.

I had two batteries that had a issue with the positive pin turning green, from saltwater getting in. I'm not sure if the fitting was tight enough or had failed. One was a customers and one was mine. See if I can find a picture. Since then I just wrap and use,... then unwrap to charge.

Feel good.. just waiting for my a health issue to be taken care of.. Hope to get wet by July if all goes well.

Hope your getting all back to normal. Getting old sure has it good and bad's.

I’m trying to figure out the good ! Thanks I’ll be in touch .

Just curious, what did you use to coil the antenna wire? Looks like maybe a wooden dowel?

It is a small wooden dowel. You must heat the antenna with a heat gun ( like pvc heat gun or Wagner paint stripper ) not sure if a hair dryer will work. Being careful not to burn. Heat wire and then place in freezer for 15 min. Repeat this 3 times total. Then remove from dowel.

Does that mean Caroline that you have found the lost depth of 6 inches on the beach with the version 0.6 of 11/03?
I didn't have time to check.

No, not 11/3/22. I now have the same performance as the original v.6 update. It was the 8/3/22 that caused my issues which now has mysteriously been replaced with 11/3/22 v.6.

    Hi guys,

So I’m a new AQ owner and think I better protect the connections with some kind of tape or whatever before I approach my local beach. What do you guys recommend - the reviews of some tapes on Amazon are pretty bad.

The Souriau connector is a good one. Just push in as you turn to take some pressure off the nibs. Both mine have been well under water now for nearly two years. No problems. I also have the same connector on 8 or 10 coils for my Excalibur with no issues there also.

I am not seeing any issues with the 3-11-22 version of the 0.6 update.

Me neither !!! I bet Calabash had the 3-11-22 version on his video and had no idea.

Reactivity is both recovery and transmit power. Set it to zero.

WTH ? ?. No offense but you need to go back and read the thread. We all understand the controls. It’s the new update v.6 time date stamp 08-3-22 causing the issue. It seems Deus understands as now we have v.6 time date stamp 11-3-22 which we all hope corrects the issues. Dang Chase, some people’s kids ?. After watching his video just for fun, I think there may be a language issue here. If so I apologize for my rudeness.

I did the update and noticed no difference ..  however in the past I have had an issue with the way my computer installed the download and had to redownload the update which worked perfectly.  May just be a bug in the first download.  Try it again.

I used the same download and the time stamp changed from 8/3/22 to 11/3/22. V.6 has been changed at Deus and now is the only version offered for Deus ll. Before they offered 4 updates.

As most all my detectors I hard wired a set of Pro Golds with an ip68 connector and cord to my Tarsacci. The volume pots let me adjust for my hearing differences from ear to ear. I never detect deeper than chest deep so no problems.

    Couldn’t hurt…or could it.

Let us know how it goes with the 3-11 version.

Would like to know what the date stamp was on Paystreak’s machine that was acting up with the Big TID update.

I’ve got 3-11 now too and this weekend will have access to machine that still has the “original” ver 0.6 to be able to do some A to B comparisons.

Still wish XP would get their act together on version control discipline, change logs, and rollback paths going forward.  But if they snuck a “fixed” version of the update in there that removes the issues documented during the past week or so, I can live with that for now.

I’m on the same page as you. My friend has the original version dated

13-01-22 v: 0.6 . We will test Sunday. Now was Calabash using the newer

11-3-22 ? We probably will never know.
