Thanks for staying on top of the XP world for us on the dark side, Cap'n! π
Ordered a spare D2 remote (RC), and a spare WS6 module yesterday. Didn't want to get stuck in the post Christmas shortages. No Black Friday specials on either one π but they will be here day after Thanksgiving. π₯³
I've been having some difficulty charging the remote, a center pin broke off one of the cables making it difficult to get the fiddly charging cable in. I need to send my remote in for warranty service, but I did buy a kit to repair it myself, again because I fear shortages.
I also fear any other delays in my detecting obsession π€£
I'm thinking I'd like to see if there are any differences between an RC manufactured recently vs the one I got almost 2 years ago. π That might be interesting! π€Β
I have an older and newer MI-6 pointer, and there is a difference between the two.
I plan to stick with the D2 for quite a while, no other detector interests me.
I snagged another MI-6 for a back up since I've already worn a small hole in the tip of my original one. I fixed it with super glue and a coat of epoxy on the tip and it's holding up fine so far, but at the Black Friday deal, I couldn't resist getting a backup.Β π
So what is the difference between your original MI-6 and the newer one, if you don't mind my asking?

I've watched that video a few times before and now each time I watch it, I understand a little more.Β π

I will second the Captain's recommendation on the Nomad. I have all 3 of the Root Slayer family & use the Nomad the most. Very easy to carry & digs very well, roots & all.
Roger that, and with the longer handle, I dig with my foot, not my arm. And, you can't beat that price for a good shovel.Β π

Thanks CPT. I am still running V1.1 for now. Looking at my settings, besides that Full Tones volume "notch" that I had, I also had a real Notch of 3-5, and a Notch of 99. As my programs morph, sometimes settings accidentally get carried over from one program to another.
I loved V1.1 so I get it. Your real notches may have eliminated some of the wrap-around we get from iron in that case. And of course, your volume "notch" probably took out the nail falsing entirely from the audio. So any or all of that obviously worked in your scenario and the proof is in the find.Β π

Well that looks like an excellent summer! Congrats and well done!Β π

That's a honker, gopher, congrats and well done!Β π

Way to go, F350! I knew it couldn't keep you down long and you're back with a bang! Congrats on the cool new finds, well done!!Β π
If you're looking for a lighter shovel, consider this one:
I got both, Nomad and the Nomad Spade, which they used to market as the Root Slayer Metal Detecting Spade. The Nomad spade is a beast of a dirt cutter, but it weighs 5 lbs, so I used the regular Nomad which weighs only 2.5 lbs and I love it. It's my go to relic shovel and it very tuff. I haven't been able to break it yet and not for lack of trying.Β π
Glad you're back, amigo!Β π

Has anybody noticed a substantial battery drain on the coil or remote using Go Terrain?Β

Thanks for your review, F350! I kind of figured it would be similar to Tect O Trak but with auto finds and TID logging. I may still try it out just to see what's what, but I rarely use Tect O Trak anymore either. However I do like the idea of using the Push mode to manually record a target TID and location on the fly with the remote on a large relic site.Β π

That's a beauty, Lodge Scent, well done again!Β π
I don't remember if you're running V2.0, but XP left the Sensi FT program hot rodded from the V1.0 update and I tested it recently against my Fast FT program and they matched signals on all tested targets on a nasty relic site. That "notch" you used may have made the difference, IDK, but I'll have to give that a try and see if it makes a difference in my dirt.Β π

Very respectable hunt for the first time on a new machine, Rivers Rat! You got some nice WWII era bits there and some coins to boot, well done!Β πΒ

Well done again, Dan! Congrats on the silver and finding a hot spot that is all yours. That's very rare these days.Β π

That's a rich trove of coin related information, RickUK, thank you for posting that. Cheers!Β π

Congrats on the more gold for the treasure chest, Skull diver, well done!Β π

Thanks Cap'n,
I'd like to inspire a few others to do:
Beach hunting 101
Park Hunting 101
And possibly:
Ghost Town Hunting 101
I may someday do a Beach Hunting 101, but there areΒ soΒ many better beach hunters than me.
Perhaps a Campground hunting tutorial will interest some? I do a lot of that.
Well I'll have to buy some likes, but I think SteveH and Chase can cover alot of those suggested 101s! Besides what else do they have to do, go metal detecting or something?Β π€£

Very interesting find, F350. I was thinking it could be a couple of solders shaking hands or embracing, maybe like an end of the war type medallion, possibly Civil War?
-
Well lookie there, we got our Go Terrain app!Β π
It reminds me of Tect O Trak but without having to manually enter all the finds. I pretty much stopped using Tect O Trak because I'm too lazy to enter everything I find as I go and by the time I get home I've forgotten where I found some of the items.
Very nice, and very reasonable pricing. I may have to give it a go as well.Β π

Thank you. I googled the inscription as soon as I saw it and knew that I had a gold electroplated ring. I guess it's better than 100% junker π

Hell yeah it is!Β π

Awesome farm tutorial, F350, very well done!πΒ That info carries over into many other areas of detecting as well so thank you for posting that!Β
That's excellent use of your "down" time along with research for your future detecting runs.Β π

Thanks for the info, F350!
My original MI-6 might be newer then, because I've had no problems with connections or tones. In fact I'd be lost without it, so I'm glad I decided to pass on the other pinpointers out there and get another MI-6 for a back up.
You know, I had to wonder though, given the substantial drop in the MI-6 price (-$40) as opposed to the MI-4 price (-$10), could that mean there's a MI-7 on the way?Β π€
Inquiring minds and all that...Β π
