Cool find, NCt! Well done!Β π
Try putting it in a baggie of uncooked rice for a day or two and see if it starts working correctly. Also, isn't there a SD card in it, usually near to where the battery plugs in?

I was lumping you in with us D2 owners that would probably jump on a small elliptical coil, Jeff.Β π

When in doubt, read the manual...Β π

Amazing seated dime, lmpd, it looks almost uncirculated! Congrats and well done!Β π

While I agree with many points expressed here, I also think there would plenty of D2 owners in the US and overseas that would happily jump on a small elliptical FMF coil. Maybe a trial first run would show what the market would bear. I would be glad to beta-test one in my hot iron dirt!Β π Β Β

That's a good looking mount/case, S d!π
I 3D printed up a case similar to that one to take on my beach trip in September but never used it. I generally use a "Top Locking" mount that has a nice tight fit to the remote and I also use a short lanyard fixed to the remote and upper shaft so if the mount breaks or the remote is knocked off, it doesn't get lost. I've only had one earlier version printed mount break so I reprinted at 100% infill with polycarbonate filament and no breakage so far (about 4 months) and the remote hasn't popped off either.Β π

I've been reading this thread, because I'm still on the fence about getting a D2, and am learning as much as I can about it. Anyway, one of the considerations for me, used to be that the D2 had no smaller elliptical coil. I say "used to", because since then, I've done a kind of flip flop on the matter.
For example, I used to almost always use the 9.5x6 coil on my Legend, but near the end of last summer, I started using the 11" round coil again. I'm getting a couple of inches more depth from the 11", but with no notable improvement in separation. Although the smaller coil is lighter of course.
I don't think I'm getting much better separation with the elliptical coil, because with the main detection field of the DD coil being a narrow strip from front to back, the separation ability of any DD coil is already very good. In addition to that, the modern SMF detectors have extraordinary separation speed to begin with, regardless of coil size.
So ya, I'd be totally happy with the 9" round coil on the D2, along with something like a 13" round coil.I'm sort of there too since getting my 11", but there are places that I go that a skinny coil will allow a few extra inches of motion and that can be a game changer for my hunting.
That being said, if space is not a problem, there are ways on a D2 round coil to narrow the separation and simulate an elliptical coil, but as is often the case, being able to slip into tight areas can get more overlooked finds.
I think we will eventually get the 9x5" or 10x6" coil whenever XP determines it is a go. And when we do, I will have an excuse to return to the impossible hunting areas to find the hidden goods.Β π

Congrats on the gold & diamond ring, Wasatchgold, well done! And from the looks of your wife's ring collection, you're doing awesome!Β π

I don't understand "mooted", what does that mean?

What an awesome start on your new permission rod-pa, congrats and well done! I look forward to what else you may discover there.Β π

I was wondering if High SQR was similar to the way PWM relays target information and it sounds like it is from many of the responses I've seen. I still haven't been able to get out and test it myself because I have family home for the Holidays. So thank you all for the replies and I wish you all Wonderful Holidays!Β π

Sharp and efficient! π An excellent variation. I'm really interested in that round pouch, if you don't have a supplier I'll look for one. One of these days I'm going to ask Kac for that knife, but I'm doing fine with the Park Probe. π I do have a large water bottle holder:

It's not insulated like the little guys but the steel bottle I have fits well. π
Thanks!Β π
I think the round pouch I bought was $9 but that one's not listed anymore. There are several other vendors carrying them though, here's a few different ones:
They come with a removable clip/strap so I just removed mine and got some molle clips and used one for a quick release.

I think the 9" and 11" coils were the proof of concept designs for the initial Deus 2 marketing and they work phenominally well. Then the 11x13" was released and works just as well, so I would think a small elliptical would round out the stable nicely and it doesn't need to be waterproof necessarily. It would be nice, but I'd take a "Land Only" version for relics and trashy parks. Just my take on it, the beach and water hunters may think otherwise.Β π

That's an awesome rig, F350!Β π
Here's my current Relic Rig... It's a variation of my Park Pouch sling.
It has a small round pouch to hold my WSA-II and earbuds when not mounted on the back of my hat, MI-6 and punch/probe, Gerber knife, good finds keeper & larger good finds zipper pouches, Water bottle, @kac's experimental soil/root knife, and expandable main trash pouch which also holds my MLTools Soil knife. The whole kit slings over my right shoulder to my left side and is kept in place with a wrap-around waist belt. Easy-Peezy, no lemon squeezy!Β π
