    Reviews and ..GOLD

Maybe I missed a post but.......Anyone found Gold Yet?

Righto, I`ve put many hours behind the E1500 got enough weight to stick my neck out a wee bit. With the NF EVO12 round it is dynamite on depth with subgrammers, up there close to the Z with the X 12 spiral in sensitivity and depth. Like the spiral EVOs and Elites did before the 6K GPXs, brought them right up to near GPZ performance. I suspect there will be many who end up being just E1500 users, a spiral 12 round on the 6K might be the only thing that competes close with it overall, taking not just performance but ergonomics and weight with the E1500s massive coil choice availability Of course the user has to be prepared to tweak settings and use a Fixed GB that requires GBing often in noisy ground but that is how most experienced users used the GPXs back to the SDs (not the 6K of coz)

  2. Ahhhh, going back last century... the first ML tracking PI had just hit the market, I joined for 4 weeks a pay for tag along tour operator in WA and NT OZ. On first camp fire 'yack' he asked us to keep any 'hot rocks' that interfered with our Pis GB ( SDs 2000, 2100 and 2200) he was collecting such for ML. It was such user collections ML relied/relies on for GBing advancements. That first tracking ML taught us tracking takes out gold, ML improved on that over the years with the SDC the first without fixed going close to not tracking out gold, the 6K improved again (and the Z but its not PI).

They still track out gold but improving, but above is just a litlle history, now my point those of us who still use fixed at times have also noticed in fixed detectors although evolving more sensitive do not need as much and as often adjustment, I`ve found not speculating the E1500 does not need as much or as often GB adjustment as say, to keep amongst the PIs as the GPX5000 and be assured the E1500 has sensitivity approaching the GB2 VLF. Hell with the GB2 (non tracking) and such you were continually adjusting manually ever swing almost.

It remains fairly stable and handles the ground changes remarkably well.

  3. Ah ha the green 'stick' mystery, will go with care when removing chip to see if perhaps there lays the cause of the intermittent 'craziness' my ML 11 developed. A X coil type cable adapter is the go, spiral coil improvement performance like the older GPXs and X gave the Z for the 6K may be possible.

  4. Get it out in the fields where it will compete to some users with the rest on a number of fronts... ergonomics, coil availability and its GB 'ability', it has something different there in that it stays stable with less GBing  for a sensitive detector. Certainly as shown already not all users are going to go for it, a fixed GB machine is perhaps not for all those who prefer a tracking machine, at this stage that and not being wireless are two 'negatives' if one forgets price. It`s replaced the Axiom and SDC in my arsenal on my ground but not the Z and 6K and that`s not price influenced. I love swinging it as I suspect a lot will, but not everybody.

The cable and chip module that I salvaged is from a used GPX 17”x13” coil. The graphite coil shielding has a separate ground/drain wire. I haven’t been able to use it with a standard GPX 5000 coil because the ground/drain wire is internally connected to the mono cable coax shield. Also the GPX 6000 appears to be finicky if the inductance, capacitance and resistance are not just right. I don’t know if the 11” ID chip would signal the control box to expect some different coil specifications.

A few days ago I salvaged the cable and module from a defective GPX 6000 14” Double D coil. I have wired it up to a standard 5 pin connector to adapt to the X-Coil connectors. I also rewired a ML GPX 5000 Commander 11” DD coil to the same pin connections as the X-Coils. In testing there are no coil faults and it appears to be working. But with both a GPZ 14 coil and the modified 11” DD coil there is very low sensitivity. I will do some troubleshooting to find out what is wrong.

Thank you for this info, much valued as it is helping this electronic layman get the courage up to av a go, and why no? can only let the smoke out.. 😉

Has anyone compared the depth capability of the Algoforce E1500  with the GPX 6000?

Not in test bed or side x side. In field I have picked up sub grammers in a patch found and flogged with the 6K 11 Round and Goldhawk small elliptical vs E1500 with Sadie. Also picked up larger pieces at depth with the E1500 with 12" round EVO in patch. From this nuggets/scraps dug in the field I have deduced both the E1500 and the 6K have depth capabilities that spiral rounds will prove in time. Especially with the E1500 as there is plenty such larger coils out there for the young uns to employ. If I get roundtoit I`ll tackle the same patch with the Z, but new patches are always calling.... 😉

I think I got a good one as well. Never had any issues.

I agree, a 14" round spiral would be great on the 6k. Dropped a few hints to coiltek but must have fallen on deaf ears.

I have a feeling the aftermarket fellows who have the 6K build license from ML are not allowed to build anything for the 6K that allows it to compete with the Z, much the same as they were a wee upset they couldn`t stop X coil producing coils that competed with their upcoming 6K on small stuff. Not knocking them protecting their products but am hoping the E1500 will demonstrate to them the power of non chipped aftermarket coils to us the user. Imagine the Z and 6K upgrade models if they aren`t limited/handicapped with chipped coils.

Okay, so the 6000 has a few things which could be improved, but it is still a bloody good detector. I for one have proved that it is not just a 'flypoop' machine. It will do me just fine until a better detector comes along. (maybe I just fluked a good one. I am pretty lucky with that sort of thing)

Yeah I too have 'fluked' a good one, lucky as were the test pilots, the 6K is singing out for a 12" or maybe 14" round X coil spiral to show just how much depth it has got and not just on 'flypoop'.

  9. Hoi... Phrunt send that 12XSpiral over the ditch, I can offer you in return a detector you haven`t got yet, an ADS Deepseeker (not working) as a swap😉 Is a bit off subject but also on spiral coil subject re bringing the Z into the thread, spirals seemed to be NF & Coiltek answer to the Z, they brought the GPXs up in reach. Those X coil spirals on the Z also were quieter than Dod as I concur with Phase Tech the 12Evo round is quieter on hot rocks than the Sadie on the E1500.

  10. GC. Nah all found with MLs 14 DoD, found pre X coil days, the center 'Klingon D7 Battle Cruiser' will buy a couple of Zs now, I`ll look for a better photo of it and as a Trekkie you`ll see the D7 albeit 'golden one'. No doubt the X coil spirals were a big jump for the Z, they opened many new patches, with their superior depth and sensitivity to sub grammers at amazing depths. That is the reason I went for a 12"Evolution round Spiral for the E1500, although I think it is a wee behind the 12" round spiral X coil on the Z, the E1500 impresses me big time driving that coil especially at its massive weight advantage. Tis old fella friendly😉

  11. Sure shows how good that Sadie although bundle wound is up against the Evo 14x9 Spiral wound, my use I believe the 12EVO round would hit target even better and at more depth, I only have the Sadie and the 12EVO Round for the E1500 plus am going by field use, gold undug and no side x side comparison thus nothing concrete just my judgement call in the field.

Great test vid, that 11' ML Mono was my choice of small coil back in those GP on right through to the GPX (not 6K) days. Yes it was then a small coil, mostly swung the 18" ML then along came the Z and WOW.

  12. I`m chaffing at the bit, the wets back but the 8 days I got out there were a bonus. About Guinea Pigs..... 😉 no great breeder here, by far in my years being an early adopter has been very profitable, so it`s been a case of the early bird gets the worm. Manufacturers have field testers, and I`ve not experienced any problem with a detectors performance yet, thus I take my hat off to those field testers, tis a no-brainer to be an early adopter for me.

  13. You got me Taz, like Steve my review wasn`t a reply to anyone's particular post was rather simply my current review of the E1500. I always jump in and get a new gold detector, some times it works out and they pay for themselves quickly and other times I sell them 2nd hand at a loss. The E1500 is well on its way to staying with the 6K and Z in my armory it has basically replaced the excellent Axiom.

  15. I initially got the Companion 16000mAh Solar/Wireless phone charger but also got a couple of Kings 10000 to try (2 for $50) that cut the weight even more, 1 runs E1500 all-day (old fella 8 hour bludge day) and doesn`t seem unbalanced with the 12"Evo round on. Spare 1 fits in a shirt pocket so probably are a wee shy of 10000aHr, time will tell, but the Companions in the vehicle always.

Im with you on the rounds any day. Never been a fan of elliptical coils for that same reason, depth.

Yes true rounds for use when you can swing, ellipticals being tops around rocks in creeks or pushing through the long tropical grass after the wet where I prospect, 'linear prospecting' ie. no swinging motion just pushing along the ground through the grass on the ridges, usually following wild horse trails. Just very good to have the E1500 that uses our choice of coils for our ground from a big range made by the aftermarket folks.
