I feel the Axiom is the best price vs performance PI gold detector on the market today.  I feel the E-1500 is going to soon take that spot over unless Garrett has an Ace up their sleeve or how soon Minelab reacts.

With you 100% even in OZ the Axiom was best price vs performance, I`ll stick my neck out now although it is early days and give that crown to the E1500, something different in its ground balancing capabilities that we haven`t had before in a PI, it handles some of my backyards difficult ground like it is not a sensitive detector but it is a very sensitive detector. What a shame it isn`t married to a 6K, its offspring would than be the bees knees for most of us from newchum to oldchum.

  2. Having a ball with the Evo 12 on the E1500, picks up scraps/dinks/flakes at depth and larger. Tis relatively lightweight being mono, easy to swing, am using it with a lightweight Kings 10000mah battery. There is additional ground noise over the bundle wound Sadie as is expected from a spiral and larger diameter coil but the E1500 with the new firmware has fast/precise as GB. We are spoilt with so many coil options out there to suit so many different grounds and user preferences. Back to the old before coil chips, is really Back to the Future and I`m soaking in it😉

  3. Personally we compare detectors, publicly yes we should avoid comparing but we do. ML probably already have a near auto Z out there in the hands of testers, not to counter the E1500 but because that`s what they do and have done since their inception. Knockers of ML haven`t had their fortunes made by ML detectors or they wouldn`t be knockers.  Fortunes not necessarily of monetary value. GC I was generalizing when I posted preconceived, slowly learning not too myself.😉

It's just that I like the robust and foldable design, combined with the MPF timings. The SDC is a tank compared to the rather flimsy 6k, and at times I need something for the rough 🙂 No doubt the Algo is a great machine, and I will get my hands on one for sure. But will it replace the SDC entirely, I doubt it. The 6/7k did neither. Is the Algo as tough as the SDC, that you can throw down the canyon when you need both hands to hike down? Doesn't look like it, but I don't own one yet so I could be wrong. As Gerry said, the right tool for the task.

Hey I don`t knock the SDC, I really think Phrunt should grab JWs and av a go, find out for himself. Blinkers and preconceived ideas are just not the go in this hobby. The biggest asset to have is positivity and you have it in spades with the the SDC and why not. I`m impressed as with the E1500 and look forward to you giving it a swing, I have reservations it`ll replace the SDC for you but that`s because for me the Z and 6K were the go, my modded SDC was only used by visitors, I preferred the Z than the 6K. But as you know I try em all, coz I can, the E1500 is getting a good work out as the Axiom did.

  5. Wow that is quick, going by his reasons for selling, that isn`t that surprising, the Axiom suffered much the same, seems lots of them were returned with supposed faults but on testing they proved to have no problem. Although the E1500 controls are easy to navigate as are the Axioms, it is not for those that like the SDC and the 6K easy casual user use. Minelab hit on the market very well, with those two detectors.

I wonder if you're right, that the E1500 is going to punch the SDC2300 in the face, it looks like it from my hot rock and bad ground testing so far, although I've not used an SDC before it's doing better than other detectors I have used, I'm balancing out crazy hot rocks in its ultra fine gold mode.

JWs got a SDC hasn`t he, give it a go, you`ll probably be pleasantly surprised with its performance (not its ergonomics) and be able to reckon how it performs in comparison with the E1500 on your ground.

  7. GC I`ll send my E1500 over coz I think it`s maybe going to put the SDC to bed in your wild ground, send it over when it`s not busy that is..... and like the Axiom with its fixed GB option and other controls it has the 6K beaten in some circumstances and sneaking up on the Z also with a 12 Evo. Mono coils are so much lighter for old codgers, whilst the E1500 is no slouch, just a caution low price may be too good to be maintained once the cost of CP is factored in.

Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector - One of a Kind in top working condition. | eBay                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Will post to a US DP Member. Time for it to go to someone that will use.

  9.  Yeah GC, is so for all AutoGB detectors, I used the Z mainly in fixed, the early VLFs AutoGB before the first PIs were bad for it 1600/1700, fortunately they had the fixed option too. Obviously the E1500 designers did not see the need for AutoGB or were legally not allowed to use the better GB tech of late, which along with the rest of the E1500 tells me they were not just tech savvy but also were or listened to very savvy user/users. Its features are about gold even the ID which by working in pinpoint mode seems it may be useful for those who hunt in trashy ground. Just a few early observations to whet appetites.

The lack of tracking is what killed the QED to a large degree. From what Ive heard, the E1500 is far less dependent on accurate GB and somewhat self-tolerates moderate ground changes. Id need to handle one myself to see how factual that is though...

Its tracking is like Fixed in a lot of MLs Pis, which was the preferred way to run them for a lot of us, auto tracking is good but can result in faint deep lunkers being missed. For convenience if the E1500 had a better located dedicated button to GB as per those MLs be the go for me.

  11. Yes the Torus has proved themselves, original set I`ve had on the 6K are into their 3rd or is that 4th season??? They are popular here in OZ, Sales to detector user would show that. Perhaps as they have proved themselves Avantree should leave the original Torus as is.... have a go at making a more rugged Torus but just in case that`s not the go, leave the original Torus as is ,,, If it aint broke don`t fix it

  12. Ah firstly Gerry you are no Lone Ranger, why talk about an E1500 or get one? simply coz we can, the real question should be why not talk......... but it`s way too late to ask that question, DP members have a 5 in 100 or better representation already of E1500 owners (if the rumored 100 number`s for real) and a lot on DPs posting about it, you`ll do your thing and try to have one in their hot hands before the years out and that`s no question tis a certainty. You`ll also shake you head when you`ve one in your hot hands and wonder why do such innovations not come from other than a past/present Minelab source? Tis a brilliant detector that wont beat your 6K or Z in most situations, about equal to the Axiom and has an edge on the SDC? But licks em all in ergonomics/weight/price and usability..... heh but that`s my early judgement.😉

  13. Reverted to using electrical insulation tape to hold coil cables, after trying clips, velcro etc. velcro picks up all the FNQ spear grass and other grass seeds and you end up with a 'nest' on shaft especially at the low tie just above the coil. Battery for the E1500 I initially used a small old 2000mah lithium torch that has a USB A power outlet, ordered and received a Companion 16000mah Power bank as per PhaseTech E1500 review thread. Its a beauty, has a wireless phone charger on one side that had no trouble punching through the thick protection case on my phone, other side has a 1.5W solar charger.

  14. As your near harshest critic, top vid I watched it to the end which is unusual for me, a few of us organized that wind from over the ditch here, you should have not told us the E1500 was coming today👺. Tis an impressive detector in all-round usability, stability, sensitivity etc. I know I shake my head and wonder why it took a new Manufacturer to listen to what our Moderator tried to tell the other established manufacturers over and over for years. I`m excited with this Algoforces first, what is next? although I suspect they`ll be head down and a... up keeping up with demand.

My SDC eats my perfect 6K in two scenarios: (1) ground is laden with basaltic tuff (2) small washes with super hot ground. Proof me wrong and all espressos for life will be on me. Sorry, off topic again but could not help the comment. Will shut up now. 😀

Your not wrong I`ve had an early morn Expresso hit now and admit I was definitely a wee mischievous early on, Reg`ll kill me.....😉

  16. Off Topic alright, you guys must have terrible ground because my original 'defective' 6K eats the SDC and everything else with ease on my ground for scraps, but not the Z for Lunkers..... or Regers if that`s ok with you Reg. Put the axe down Lunk/Reg I`m just being a wee mischievous on this lovely downunder morn.

Back to the E1500, as Nenad has illustrated, Ned Kelly has posted and I concur the E1500 is not a 6K killer but it may compete with your SDCs on your ground, definitely will in ease of use, there is only one way to find out but as Steve has posted they maybe a way off before they go 'upover'.
