Be careful with the toothpick vs putting some super glue on a metal piece. Did you try the super glue with the paper clip end first?

I don't normally look at YouTube videos but when I looked at this one I liked it. I subscribed. And then a list of similar videos came up and I liked a couple of those. Some of them have gotten so much better than the old videos I watched which didn't have any tone when finding a target.
Do we have an area on the forum that rates videos? I can see that rating the raters and YouTubers would be a free-for-all!

The Costco system uses the outer ear and not just the ear tunnel which these other two have used. I'll be ordering the Costco's and wearing them and I'll return them if they don't fit.
The Miracle ear offered a custom mold for each ear so that fit would not be a problem. It only costs $80 per ear but it was not offered by the last company. They could make a mold but then they would imbed the entire hearing aid and they discouraged me from doing it. I've seen some of the other ear cups that have layers and are built to prevent pull out or fall out but this was not available with my last company it seems. I tried small, medium and large and they all dropped loose needing constant reinsertion which changed the program and volume.
Thanks for the Happy New Year.

Now, here is an OTC hearing aid company out of Las Vegas. I spoke with them and they do not have programmable hearing aids. They do have hearing aids with programs! I guess we know what that is all about after using preset metal detecting programs for so many years.
The reviews are interesting, and I got online support for my sales questions in just a matter of minutes. They have 5 hearing aids under $600. Some of the reviewers say they have bought more than one time ... they lose one! Maybe that is why the other companies charge so much as they allow replacements for a period of time.
I'm still concerned about the seating in my ear which is more important to me than the price. If they don't stay in my ear then no price is too great or small.

They did tell me that they negotiate a price and get manager reductions. It says it is a foundation associated with it and they provide discount and free hearing aids to some in need from the earnings they get.
Truthfully I didn't get a full price list but they have levels it seems of 1-5? The price they gave me was for top of the line and I don't know what the difference would be for lesser models in quality or price.

Mike,
Nice to chat with you briefly today. When I was at Miracle Ear and the tech said she was from Connecticut I thought of you and called.
She was a replacement at this office location because the normal person was out. It was not a smooth event for her and in the middle of my hearing test the computer froze. We've had to reschedule.
Before I left I did ask some numbers and they are more than a 6000 for a level 5 hearing aid. I'll say it is a bit of a shock. They do have a custom molding option for an extra of couple of hundred that I'd do if I went back.
I'm going to return my other aids tomorrow. I can't justify keeping them when they keep coming loose. I've chatted with a couple of my other friends and they say they put theirs on the shelf because they don't stay in their ears.
I don't have any room to have hearing aids sitting around unused. All of that space has used detectors and headphones!
To be continued ...

With the great SMF machines available today, there's very little need for a PI in the water IMO. Extreme depth in black sand is the only thing I can think of.
Which one of these SMFs would you consider waterproof? I've heard of a mod for the Equinoxes that makes them waterproof and used by divers.

My buddy wants me to now find the 1773 silver Virginia Shilling, that sucker is worth $50k.
Would you keep a $50k coin? 😁

I probably won't beat that old coin!
You know history is there. Do you really think you have found the oldest piece of it?
Prove it. haha

I've been working an old school yard but it can't yield a coin before 1980s! I come here and see what a really old coin is about.
That would keep me out in that field several times a week while it is open.
Congratulations.

rules of wind and solar leases on federal land.
They put a fence around everything before they erect their panels and turbines. I've seen them building numerous installations around Mojave, California. Some of that land I hunted relics and some I hunted nuggets.
I can't hunt it now.

Today I got a new profile from Costco. It was similar to the one I got 6 years ago. My word recognition is good. I mostly have high end sound loss.
After the profile this time they gave me some programmed hearing aids and they are different than the ear tunnel aids I have now. These have a bit of a swirled feature that keeps them in place I think better. As it turns out for me, when I eat or talk my jaw moves and dislodges the hearing aids. This additional feature plus the price difference may make me not buy these complete in the ear aids.
The Costco tech knew I had other hearing aids in my pocket and I mentioned to him that I do metal detecting. I was able to wear the aids out to my car and use my 800 with headphones. They sounded pretty good. This one also has an outdoor app so I could use the Avantrees or maybe even other speakers that come with the detectors.
I have one other test scheduled next week at Miracle Ear and then I'll make my next decision. Right now I'd go with the Costco set. It has adjustable frequencies. I told the tech I wanted nuggets to sound real loud! haha

I came back to this thread just to post what you just said! There are actually two different headphones that make individual profiles. I will consider them as I am finding the hearing aids to have a 'seating' problem in my ears. They keep slipping back out and after a bit of jamming back in I get a 'plugged up' sound which is annoying. I was researching headphone with a profile and found what you found. It is quite good you can make your custom hearing to each ear and look at the price difference! Under $100 vs thousands ...

I belong to a few clubs in Southern California. It is the strategy of some of those clubs to use members to claim open claims in the area near the club claims to protect the entire area for miners against environmentalists, solar interests, wind interests and other huge interests that will just sit on the claims and keep us off. They might even have to buy us out in order to get what they want. Some won't sell the dream!

I tried to rain on that party going on out there many years ago but it has now become a storm and I don't comment on it any more. It is like a bad puppy mill.
There are 'open' sections that can be detected without needing a claim.

Just good old-fashioned fluke!
You are a good writer. You could win lots of those contests. They need to send you some coils to test.

It looks like the rings for the lobes we find here but looking at the link I see that it is just a big, fat uncomfortable gold ring that I'm sure the wearer was glad to lose and collect the insurance money!
-
Lead is selling for a big price these days if you can find a yard that will take it. Just drop in the gold so they give you a little better price.
-
That ring does look like it came from a hole. A hole in the ear?

You have put it together Doc. Hearing aids are reading glasses for the ears!

Yes, even a blind squirrel can find a patch!
It might depend upon how much of a 'turn on and go' detector you have like a Monster.
Santa Cruz Storm Surge

I didn't get out until a couple of hours after the low tide last night and it was apparent that what you were talking about also happened in the Santa Monica Bay. Most of the energy blew up over the top and sent water higher. The slope sand was softer than normal.
One of the reasons I believe this to be the case here is that this 'storm' with minimal wind and rain so far had big waves with very long intervals between them. We look for storms with waves that have intervals of 7-8 seconds and these waves were in intervals of 15 seconds plus.
I did manage to find one silver earring, a cheap ring and an old bus token with the other junk after 4 hours and 3 different beaches.
