  1. welcome aboard

You hit pay dirt when you came here.

What detector did you choose and how do you think you'll be using it ?

IE: coins , relics , jewelry , gold and looking at beaches , fields , parks  , desert.

That will get some suggestions going.

  2. I hear that Steve! You were one of the lucky ones.

I had my dream job doing the concert circuit too , I still do a freebie on occasion for old friends but usually on a much smaller scale.

BUT when I scored the pirate ship captain gig  I think I found my true self ! That might be why I ended up here ?   skuh kuh kuh kuh kuh

I even wrote a song for the kiddies ( yeah , it was in a theme park ! ) and they loved it !

I normally don't do this but to stay a tiny bit on topic (gold)  just for the gang here it is , hope y'all like it , I think you will.

Row row row yer boat , across the ocean green.

Merrily , merrily , merrily , merrily ,,,,,ALL THE GOLD'S FOR MEEEEEEEEE arrrrrrrrrrrrrr !

(I release my rights on this one if any of you want to use it while prospecting)

It was all the wardrobe lady's fault , she told me to lead the kids in row row row yer boat if I ran out of things to say ( yes there was a script, which I accidentally dropped overboard the first day while walking the gunn'als,,  OOOOPS ! ) "Run out of things to say ! " she had NO idea........

If you can't live your passions , that's gotta suck.

  3.

I like the "solid coil mount " with the ears on the rod end idea .

Minelab could change future coils to that version and only have to replace older design coils in stock that break. Maybe their design engineers could come up with a better idea to improve the coil tabs AND an add-on  strengthener kit for the still in use coils  .

One of my old bosses used to tell me right before showing me an impossible show rider.."If you're half the engineer I think you are you can make it work !" (He probably told all of us that LOL)

Customers that have to deal with this issue several times probably aren't going to be the best advertising for ML !   I'm sure there are a LOT of these coils already made and fixing them all has a cost , but so does bad press .

I'm surprised at how well those here are coping with this problem , kudos guys !

As a new Nox owner I'm not too happy finding all this out after purchase .( my research bad , and I waited 2 years ! ) This and the waterproof issue is bad enough to make me seriously wonder about future ML choices (a 6000???)

Hope they figure out a solution soon. Or at least tell us they're trying........

Until then...I'm not submerging the control unit and not swinging a coil as close to the ground as I want to...arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  4. In bands huh ?

    Hmmmmmmmmmm

Almost like they ran out of ammo and loaded a cannon with whatever they thought would be effective ? Maybe Jed Clampett loading his shotgun shells for those rabbits for the same reason?

    I knowwwwww , I "ain't right" ,,,but sometimes I yam

  5. I just checked mine and it's 8 pin. 7 outer and 1 in the middle.

Be careful to note where the indexing notch is .

We used to call these connectors DIN in my world.

There's probably a 4 or 5 pin on your old CB mic.

If I had a nickel for every time I forgot to put a connector cover or some heat shrink on before starting to solder..........I wouldn't care about gold ! LOL I started my tron life at 12yo !

Liquid tape is "the balls" as one of my friends used to say.

(Use a little around the ends of the heat shrink unless it's the kind that has sealer inside to add a bit more waterproofing , ).

OH and ML not wanting to fix that connector  probably something about waterproofing  ? Or doubts of consumer doing the soldering.

  6. Sorry Steve , none of the choices really defined what I have done so far....so I didn't do the poll , I think I'm in an "all of the above" category for the time being....

I've used the speaker and the ML wireless HPs  ( not bad) , Still need to try out the WM08 with all my other wired HPs and IEMs (lots to choose from) .

I have a pair of Master and Dynamic BT wireless ( i never heard of them either) that don't seem to want to pair to the 800.....arrrrrrrrrr!

They are the best sounding HPs I've ever owned  BY FAR , so maybe have to use the WM08 with them and the wire option... still a lot of experimenting to go until I have a preferred set up.(The M&D were a gift from a friend that reviews HPs for audiophile magazines , He was downsizing to move into an RV,,,and sent me a box full of various models from his endless collection ! )

Totally ruined me for using any other model ,,including my old faves from the road doing shows !  I called to thank him but ended up good naturedly telling him off for ruining all my other HPs as adequate !  skuh kuh kuh kuh kuh  They are around $600 and I'm SO glad he didn't send any of the really high end ones (up to $5K)

    Stay Tuned.............

  7.  GB2 Nice starter rig ! Bet it pays for itself pronto where you plan on using it..

And I was serious about the ghost , IF you see one don't just stand there , remember what to say ! skuh kuh kuh kuh kuh

Good luck to ya , keep the coil to the ground.........
