Trouble is, Simon's ground is largely deathly quiet.
As deathly quiet as it is Simon hasn't inundated us with gold finds. So while this detector has all these cool functions the gold isn't flooding in like it has been with the GPX 6000 & the amounts of small gold it has been rewarding people with. Despite the E1500 being about a third of the price, at the end of the day it is the gold count that matters to a lot of people. It is actually a sad state of affairs that we are now gloating over detectors that find the smallest most tiniest bits of gold.

You could also get your 4500 modified by Woody of Detector Mods. Redz has mentioned Woody's EMI filter.

Hi guys. I came across this on you tube. This could be a game changer for those deeper big slugs.

Yes, sad news to hear of Toby Keith's passing. He had been dealing with stomach cancer for a while. RIP Toby.

And a big Thank you to Phrunt, he probably contributes more consistently good information and ideas than anyone.
Yes, true that. It is interesting following the info he is giving on the E1500 & it is giving me a good handle on it for gold here in NZ. Do I get one, or not? We are both on the same land mass so it is very good info for me. Thank you Phrunt.

I'm going to confirm this today, I only noticed all this yesterday and I got home late at night from a big adventure gold hunt 🙂
I am guessing that you found no gold as you haven't posted about it, & I am sure you would have had you found some. Obviously you had a long day looking but came up empty handed on the gold. If you were hunting old past producing grounds then this detector is no miracle machine despite its cool features.
How was your shotgun pellet count? If getting pellets then there is every possibility that each one of those signals could have been a piece of gold.

Thank you schoolofhardNox. There in lies the truth. Life threatening chemicals & not as much gold on electronics as people may think.

Or just silicon on the velcro straps & they will always be there & wont move & will fit any cable thickness & most people have these as they often come with a detector or coil.

I couldn't agree more Steve but that is the difference between doing this for money or doing it as a hobby. I would have at a guess that most hobbies don't make money but are done because the people doing it see it as an escape from their usual daily grind. Food for the soul. Be it fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing etc. A lot of those activities come at quite a high cost. Fishing involves having a boat with all the expenses that go with owning & running a boat. Would be cheaper just to buy the fish from a shop, but it isn't always about just catching a fish. It is the whole journey with some mates & the places you go to. Same with gold detecting. Depends how you look at it why you are really doing it. Gold detecting involves hiking, gets you out doors, you experience the 4 seasons in all its glory & what nature offers in those 4 seasons. The Autumn colours , the spring time blooming of wild flowers, the critters you see etc. Ok, the gold has a value but so to do the other things out there. Like I said, food for the soul. Not everything is about money for everybody
But I get your point.

One thing I'd recommend, if possible, for people buying second hand coils for the Algoforce and only really if they're unusual coils like the ones demonstrated in Steves post above for the TDI or the probes is to test them on the detector before buying, I've had no trouble with any Coiltek, NF, Minelab or standard spiral X-coils.
Another good reason to test a 2nd hand coil before buying is that it may be getting sold because it has developed issues. I have been down that track.

A new detector is not going to find gold that is gone.
No, but it will with its newer technology find gold missed by other detectors on old patches. Look at the success of the 6000. Most new release gold detectors/coils have that ability to bring old patches back to coughing up a few more bits. Maybe not as big but often lots of smaller stuff. It all adds up.

If using the Sadie coil or something similar, a 10000 mAh would be brilliant, you'd be swinging a light VLF weight detector with PI Power 🙂
With a bigger coil, a 20000 mAh helps a bit balance it out. So one of each is ideal, either way they're going to last longer than a day's detecting so you don't need two very expensive batteries to last a full long day like the competitor.
That's a very good point.
Re the cable ties. I think people are really over thinking this but I will add what I have used. Quick & simple but don't tell my wife. I have used her hair ties, but without the metal bit that is in the photo.

Phrunt, I am very disappointed. You have left out a very important fact in this first outing review. Where is the photo of all the shotgun pellets you found & what was the gold to pellet ratio? Sorry, that makes it two important facts. 😂

That half gram bit of gold is worth about NZ$50. That is less than what I get paid for an hours work. I can see a lot more than an hours work for creating that bit of gold.

Like I said earlier. Silicon, or glue, the velcro on the shaft & it wont move & no hassle changing coils as often as you need to. Maybe that's too simple.

This may be a suitable thread to mention something which may trip up some US users especially new guys - the cheap $10-$20 battery banks you can get at Walmart, Amazon, etc are often vastly overrated. Like they just write whatever rating number they think will sell best. Some are ok, some are absolute garbage.
The ones at the checkout aisles that are rated 10000mAH from Walmart, I disassembled one because I was using it for a different application and it would run out very quickly. The actual batteries inside were only 2500mAH. Later I bought one that was 20000mAH and took it apart and surprise surprise - 5000mAH battery in it. Bought one off Amazon that was 20000mAH to recharge phones with remotely, and it lasted about exactly as long as the Walmart one but I didn't take it apart.
I can see people going to Walmart for a battery and wondering why their detector is only running 90 minutes off a "20000mAH" pack. 🙂 In this case it probably pays to go with the more trusted, name brand ones for an extra $10 or so like the Belkin Simon posted.
Why are companies allowed to get away with that?

MMMMmmmm. Take it easy.
I used to put two of those clips on the lower shaft keeping the coil cable straight & on top as you have done & to the 2nd clip about 4-5 inches before wrapping it around the shaft. Allowing a decent loop of coil cable from the coil to the first clip to get it higher above the coil. Gave more pivot/wiggle room. Not sure how that would improve the cable getting detected. It is the kind of thing that you are now aware of & will know when it happens & mostly just when putting you detector down or picking it up.
