Thanks for the report Mike.----I have been wondering how the Equinox would do nugget hunting (with the 6" coil).
-
Thanks to Steve & Jeff also.

Thank you gentlemen, I appreciate the responses.-------------Del

Steve-----Let me re-phrase my question.----Barring the cost factor & considering hunting for small nuggets.----Which is the most effective (gives the best performance) in that regard with each of these detectors (GM 1000 & E800) being used in highly mineralized ground & with each operating with their small coil?----It would seem that both of these detectors/coil combos have been out long enough now to have comparison tests along these lines.---------Del

I'm just glad the guys parachute opened!!!!-----And yes, I have an E800.
-
NOW I understand what makes that thing tick!!!!

Steve-------Minelab should have hired you in the first place to design the shaft for the Equinox!----We wouldn't have to be going through all this.------Hope you get it worked out (somehow).

Gotta tell this one! A few yrs. ago my wife & I was detecting a park in NM.----She had gotten tired & was resting in the car for a few minutes.---Meanwhile, a small group of young boys (early teens, nice kids) gathered around me where I was detecting.----I thought I'd have some fun with 'em so I put on a big show finding pull tabs and showing them my "finds".---I told them I was doing pretty good on p.t.'s today but was looking for coins because I was REAL poor!----I said to them---see that woman setting in that car over there--she's my wife & she's really poor to.----We're looking for enough money to pay for our license tags on that vehicle.----One of them asked how much they cost & I said---nah, couple hundred bucks.----He said "well, that ain't too bad".-----I guess they finally got tired of watching this old man trying to find money & left.

That's not training the detector----it's training the detectorist.

Well, first we need to get the 12" x 15" DD out the door. And then I want my 6" x 10" DD coil. Then maybe we can start talking concentrics!
Right!!!!!!!!
-
Any chance either Minelab or Coiltek will make a 5X10" coil for the Equinox?-----That's a coil I would be interested in for both gold & relic hunting.
-
Congrats on a GREAT find Andy!-----Man, don't mess with that coin--leave it just like it is & the way you found it.----------Del

Good to know Tom--thanks for that info.

Hey Tom----You're lookin PLENTY SHARP with that new baby!!! Keep us posted how she's doin for yah!---------Del

Hey, that's cool beans Steve!----These old eyes really like that!

Basically it is a flat plastic screen. The glare will be related more to the screen protector in use than the actual screen. Regardless, as a flat surface it is usually glare free, until you turn it exactly right into the sun and now you get a flash of glare. Just another detector in that regard, no better or worse I guess since it’s something I don’t notice.
Yes, I get that flash/glare at times even with my F-19.-----I probably didn't phrase my question right.-----How is the readability of the Equinox in bright (and certain angles of sunlight)?----Does the #'s etc. become quite dark and hard(r) to read or is there no appreciable change in that regard (I'm talking without a screen protector on).-----I know my Etrac screen graphics gets so dark in certain light that I can hardly see them & am hunting by tone only (which in a way is a good thing)! :)-----My CTX--not so much (darkened screen).
-
Steve------Does the Equinox have a glare on the screen (in sunlight) like Explorers, Etrac & even the CTX?---Is it easier to view the Equinox screen in these conditions?----That's been a problem "forever" that Minelab hasn't addressed with these detectors (IMO).---The Xterras didn't seem to have this "problem".----------Del

Hmm.....I'll say:
1) First EQ to land will be Feb 12th @ 9:39AM.
2) Ridge Runner will not get his until April 1st, because the original one shipped to him will get "lost" in the mail and the ironically the UPS driver has a new hobby
3) I'll get mine.....whenever the darn thing gets here - lol No worries, I have another new toy that I'm playing with....hint, it's not a ML device, but I cannot (yet) talk about it
Dodge Ram?

Steve-----In regards your last paragraph.-----Are you finding gold (nuggies) with the Equinox 800?-----How does it compare with the GM1000?
-
Steve-----What detectors have you hung onto for the "oddball applications" that you speak of?
-
Steve---I just thought of another question. :)------Is there much glare on the screen of the Equinox?-----All the FBS detectors had that problem with the least being the CTX (in that regard).-----Don't remember the Xterras having that problem at all.
-
Thank you for the response to my question Steve---much appreciated.
-
Steve-----This question may have been asked & answered before.---If it has, I apologize for asking again.------Does the Equinox have a "normalization" feature?------That it gives the same TID in any of the frequency modes?-----As in---a silver dime (or any coin) will give the same numeric read out in any of the modes?-----I think I said that right. :)-------------Del

Go for it Daniel!----The wife loves yah, she probably won't beat you up too bad!-----Mine didn't---my wife does keep telling me though that "the beatings will continue till moral improves".-----Not just sure what that means---might mean I'm buyin too many tectors!-----I'm kiddin, I'm kiddin (of course).
