MAY 14 1936 The weather has warmed considerably. The days are getting hotter but the nights are cold. There have so far been no more hooligans to disrupt us. Toaday I once again did the digging to get us a good direction and a descending trench heading along the fault towards the first dig. I have dug down a good eight feet below the second hole and lowering a trench five feet in width from there. That way I can walk a ramp out with the buckets once pay is discovered. We have not run the tom for two days now. The dig is slow with abundance of heavy rock that either gets worked around or moved. I am gambling a bit here but after seeing the gold in the first dig I feel the gamble will pay off. We have also decided for the both of us to stay at camp at night as there is little chance of anyone stealing gravel out of the dig that would be worthwhile at this time. I am going to alternate digging with John tomorrow. We can't leave the camp unmanned so one of us must always be here in case of robbers. TO BE CONTINUED ....................

A phisicist using arial lidar worked at Jed's old site awhile back & we have his results. According to him there is a large gold deposit at the diggings that Jed worked. As good as Jed did & it was very good it appears he only scratched the surface & there is a bigger deposit beside his dig in a small drop zone fault. The amount that could be in there is big but deeper than Jed's workings. Jed probably would have called it a kettle - a very deep one. It will require some tipe of verticle or sloping drift. He is working on some ideas for a hand digging operation. He told us it won't be easy.

I will eventually be posting a drawing or map of the layout of Jed's site. We also now have very good reason to believe that Jed only scratched the surface of a massive gold deposit at this area. I am talking $20 - $40 Million in gold still sitting there in the ground about 50 ft below the surface,

Well i got messaged and our younger crew was staked out when the high graders (2 of them) came back. They had their truck and plates spotted previously. The fur flew. I am hearing it got ugly and they won't be back. Wish I had been there.

It's boring but I can't stop watching LOL. Tonight they're going to dig another hole. My wife says the entire island is like swiss cheese and will collapse into the sea one day.

What the hell, here's what the site looks like today. A huge trench they dug and a timbered glory hole. So much gold out of one spot it makes you crazy and it's just a pin prick in that spot.

Thanks for reading. As I stated earlier in the posts, we found the eatern drift mine mentioned and we opened it with an excavator. Thhere was an old 2 man tuttle tooth hand saw in there. Pretty cool. When we read the old report when doing research it was quite a thrill when we found Jed's site. I had no idea it was up there on the mountain. This story is really just getting started and there is a lot of things coming, some good, some not so good. We will dig that site again for sure. Jed only got part of the treasure. The cabin pre dates Jed for sure. I will eventually post what his site looks like today and you will be amazed at the digging these guys did. Oops, did I say guys? More to come. When we do a project up there I'll post before I go. Maybe come up and hang out with us at camp for awhile. You can bring the beer & whiskey.

I had a chance to work with Fred Dodge a yr ago on one of our claims. They were on our mining website and called me. I didn't do it.

Does anyone out there watch the cable show Oak Island? If so, I am always fascinated by their metal detecting guy Gary Drayton. It's probably the only reason I still watch the show as he is the only one finding anything. I know nothing about detecting but what would you experts here have to say about him and his techniques? Is he as good as they make him out to be?

Thanks Clay. I guess that I misused the term as many do but you clarified it. High Grading would be the appropriate term for me to use on what was happening. We have people taking turns watching the claim for now. We also may have identified the suspect. He will get a good talking to.

Very interesting. We have a number of dumps where the old long toms deposited all the rejects. The old timers lost a lot of gold with the wooden boxes. Might be interesting to have a 2 day event. Maybe i'd catch the detecting bug.

It's the yellow bellied mountain frog in northern Cal. If you have them in a creek you have a problem. They must be protected. The BLM will accept any filing. However, it has to go through adjudication which can take a year or more. That's where a top filing should be caught.

I know nothing about detecting for gold LOL. It would be great to get a group of experienced people out there and see what they find. How deep can you detect a picker? I've got many tons of hand stacked rock that are probably full of them.

Come to our claims. I have 520 acres of them. It's mostly leased but I retain prospector rights on the leases. Bring your crew & just give me 25% of what you find.

Where we are at they won't let us do anything involving heavy equipment without a POO. They coctantly invent their own rules as well.
